Discusting
by Tillmon
I went to a Chinese restaurant--about two weeks ago-- in Renton (Hongs Garden). The waitress, and a few others obviously had colds. Our waitress was blowing her nose, and wiping it into a cloth. We watched her go about the restaurant without washing her hands. We had a seat near the kitchen--where we witness her further wiping her nose--while touching our plates. The restaurant is the most sick, foul, non-respecting place I've ever been. To top it off, one girl sneezed on the silverware (Note: They have dinner plates, and silverware on the tables) while leaving work for the day.
- Pros: Location

have enjoyed Hong's Garden for many years. The food is well prepared and very pleasing. The staff are helpful and courteous. Their Dim Sum is a great way to sample a variety of dishes and enjoy favorites. The dinner menu has a wide selection that will please and tempt any palate. Give them a try, your tummy will be happy
Absolute rudest service ever

We have been to Hongs Garden quite a few times over the past few years. Only because it is the only one in the area that we know of. One night we ate there, ordered combo number 2. They took forever to even bring the food out. Then they brought one plate out. 20 minutes later they brought the next plate out, and so on. I don't know about you, but I prefer that it all shows up at the same time. When we asked the waitress why it was taking so long, she was completely rude and just said it was the kitchens fault not hers. I talked to the grumpy old lady at the front desk about it. She offered no apology, no discount, acted like I was the one in the wrong. Well, we made the mistake of going there again tonight. Same terrible service, but now the food isn't even good. The chicken is absolutely full of fat chunks, and the beef had a very very strange texture, slimy. This time most of the food showed up, then we waited ten minutes for the rest. I do need to mention that the times the food took the longest to arrive, the restaraunt was basically empty, so it is not like they were slammed. Oh, and tonight the grumpy old lady walked by our table and passed the LOUDEST gas!! Disgusting. I don't even want to eat my leftovers. I will NEVER go back. Why should I pay $70 to be treated horribly and eat terrible food. I would rather just spend $7 and get Chinese over at Safeway, it tastes the same!
- Pros: No wait for table
- Cons: Terrible Service, mediocre food
Terrible service!

Wow ! what rude service, font desk acted like I was a pain in the @$#% for just being there, wont go back. If your Chinese your experience will most likely be different as I noticed. sad...

RUDE service

The food at best in this place is inconsistent, BUT the service is ALWAYS bad, so at least there is some consistency in that. As I bite into my combo C's almond fried chicken the old grease sprays into my mouth, very gross!! and then to add insult to injury the sweet and sour pork is really sweet and sour BLUBBER!!
There is a extremely PORTLY dare I say "lady " who is always behind the front desk when I go there, and she is so rude, you walk away like with your food with a nasty feeling of being insulted, I for one will never go back, not just because of one bad experience, but way too many of them.
I'm not impressed at all, being a small business owner myself (15 years going strong) I'm astounded by the nerve and gall of this businesses sorry LACK of customer service.
Think I'm to harsh?
Look at the grime around the front door area just inside when you walk in, it is filthy, piles of dirt and filth swept and built up all around.
GEEZ!? couldn't they clean the front of the place, makes me think "Whats the kitchen Like"
I'm grossed out remembering this dump, sorry the truth hurts...
What could they be thinking???? ZERO STARS!!!!!!!!! SHAME!
- Pros: If you dont eat there, you cant get sick from there food or insulted by the hostess
- Cons: everything
Food good, serve bad

In general I think the food is Ok. They serve traditional Cantonese style Chinese food plus Dim Sum at lunch. They are one of the few in the area that has Dim Sum.
I have actually gone there a number of times because my brother in-law likes the place and we live close by but the one thing that leaves the biggest impression with me is the poor and sometimes rude service at the front desk. In the past I have been ignore, accidently hung up on (ordering take out) treated rudely. Not always,

Great Dim Sum
by cutebirdie
Thank goodness there is ONE restaurant around Renton that offers Dim Sum. This place is sandwiched between other businesses in a very busy strip mall right off of Rainier. My wish is they move it towards Bellevue more or the highlands of Renton. I don't care to patronize any business so close to cars and other people that feel the need to telegraph their beep bopping, loud thumping music. Well, you get the picture. I like this place; I like the owners.
- Pros: Prices, Quality of Dim Sum
- Cons: Location

All food that I've tried so far is really good. The only thing I don't like is the decor is kinda drabby but it's still clean.
- Pros: great food, great dim sum
- Cons: old decor
Best Dim Sum in Renton, terrific front door staff
by smitlings
Great Dim Sum, best in Renton. Lots of choices, all done tasty and delicious. Decor and interior is getting worn out, but still clean and old looking. Front door receiver is the best grandmother type with excellent people skills. Great for takeout orders, too. Glad I found good dim sum in Renton so I don't have to go to Bellevue or downtown Seattle.
I liked it

Hong's Garden has pretty good food. We have gone a few times for dim sum...I especially love their bbq pork buns. I thought their service was ok...we haven't had any problems with getting a seat or poor service. Overall, I think that it is a good restaurant.
- Pros: Good dim sum, good prices
