Krispy Kreme Kant Kompete or Kompare !!!! by J H. at InsiderPages

I was introduced to Chuck's Doughnuts in 1991 by a previous employer. Needless to say, I have been going to Chuck's whenever I get the chance - I live in Orting !!!! That's 35 Miles for Chuck's Famous Maple Bars. I have let relatives from out of state sample them, as well as family friends. Everytime I talk with one of them, they ask me to send some maple bars !!!! What's that tell ya? Krispy Kreme - I'd rather have Hostess from the Gas Station !!!!
Even though ownership has changed a few times throughout the years, the recipies are still the same - Best in the Northwest !!!! J. Hintz

I have gone to Chuck's for 17 years! I now take my kids and they actually beg me to go. We have not found a donut we don't like there although the maple bars are by far our favorite. The ingredients are fresh and simple and oh so good! Read the ingredients of a Krispy Kreme glazed donut it's very scary!
- Pros: Good food, good price
- Cons: Not open on Sundays
great donuts....

Ok I read that it's not such a hot place to go, plain and boring... but I was having a sweet tooth craving one day... so I tried it.
I went and got my favorite, the apple fritter. I wanted to see if they made it too sweet or what.
I was really shocked it wasn't as sweet and it was full of flavor. I hate those bland tasting custards and fruits in donuts or tarts.
Will go back again....

I can see by the reviews that Chuck's is an old favorite. My friends and I went and bought a dozen of Chuck's donuts about 10 yrs ago because locals raved about it. The taste was average for us; nothing notable; nothing worth writing home about. What was the rave? And is it still as popular? Whenever I drive by Chuck's, there are only 1-2 cars in front....hmmm....there's a "sign" for you. When I went in recently to update my opinion, their donuts were still average in taste and quite sugary in fact. Just goes to show you, sometimes the "power of suggestion" can influence the vulnerable. And actually, Krispy Kreme's donuts don't seem as sweet as Chuck's......which in my opinion, are ladened with sucrose.
- Pros: Parking
- Cons: Priced too high; Too sugary

The best donuts around! Just get there early for the best selection. They usually run out by the afternoon on weekends! Personal favorite: Maple Bar.

Best Maple Bars Around

This is where I went on my first date with my husband when we were 12. That was 25 years ago. The maple bars are the best around. The buttermilk Donuts are my second favorite. Great variety.
When a co-worker brought in a certain competitors donut, she asked me and another co-worker what we thought of them. Coincidentely, We both said Chucks were better.
- Pros: inexpensive, tasty, maple bars
- Cons: none

Try the raspberry filled buttermilk bars. Can't be good for you, but WOW the flavor and texture are great!
Great atmosphere (lots of regulars beat me to the seats everytime...I don't think they go home)

I have been going to Chuck's Donuts for as long as I can remember, at least 15 years. They are, by far, the best donut shop...in the world as far as I'm concerned. They have the best donuts anywhere....and they're a hell of a lot better than Krispy CRAP!!!!
- Pros: Taste, Nice People, Inexpensive
- Cons: NONE, NONE, NONE

The maple bar at Chuck's donut was famous when I was in high school years ago. Family run and hot from the oven, worth a drive or getting up early for a quick treat.
- Pros: inexpensive, good parking, great variety
- Cons: not open sundays
