De Medici Ming derives its name from the two great originators of paper: Italy and China. And like both cultures, the closet-sized fine paper store has weathered major upheavals. The 17-year-old nook has survived the scaffolding and havoc of such mammoth construction projects as the nearby Seattle Art Museum and the bus tunnel, because their stock of handmade and mold-made paper is so utterly cool and universally appealing that customers stayed loyal and passersby stayed captivated.
