We got there at 11 am and counter was open. Able to talk to workers...very nice and casual. Lots of recommendations. I had a simple grilled cheese and their veggie black bean soup with a hard roll. Wonderful. Friend had BLT and Chowder..also good. Wish we had paid as soon as we got the food because the place filled up FAST!!! Lots of regulars which is a good sign. I am a food snob and will go again.
Pros: Service, food
Cons: dingy but nice character

On a recent visit to Seattle, my wife & I stopped here several times. The pastrami & corned-beef sandwiches are some of the best you'll get outside of NYC, plus -they don't raise an eyebrow if you want cheese (including Tilamook Cheddar) on it . The meatloaf sandwich was great-- like something grandma would put together for a picnic. All served on tasty fresh baked bread. My wife said the chocolate covered coconut cookie, was the best cookie ever. All the baked goods were top quality, and we tried quite a few. Early on a weekday morning this is one of the few places open at Pike Place Market, and we had a good cup o'joe & a fresh baked bagel, served by a gentleman, who was one of the frendliest, service-oriented people we've encountered in many years of travel. In tourist mobbed Pike Market, it was very refreshing to find staff so helpful and cheerful.

I was introduced to Three Girls Bakery a couple of years ago by a friend of mine, who was in love with their chocolate drop cookies. Now crazy about it myself--although my main addiction are their amazing pretzels--Three Girls is the one place I invariably go to on my infrequent trips into Seattle. Their pretzels are phenomenal, nothing at all like the cheap, microwave kind you're going to get at a mall or movie theater. These are true German-style bakery pretzels, made from fresh bread and cooked in an oven. Also worth noting are the Snickerdoodle and Oatmeal Raisin cookies, their scones, and the Russian Wedding Cookies, which I usually can't resist buying either. But really, you can't go wrong with anything you see there!!
Pros: Everything is good, everything is fresh, prices are great
Cons: Can be long lines

The bakery is great, the atmosphere is very typical Seattle: friendly, crowded at times, fast paced, and delightful. Everything is fresh and sometimes you have to go early because they do run out of certian highly coveted breads and treats. The sandwich was a surprise to us but it was listed as #3 in the top 10 best sandwiches in Seattle. Honestly, it beats Subway and Quiznos any day, I had a Reuben sandwich and my wife had a Turkey with Swiss both on Sourdough, and it was pretty darn good. What makes it good is their quality/choice of meats, the fresh bread, and the condiments of course. As simple as a sandwich is, it comes down to the choice of ingredients. Combine that with the nice atmosphere of Pike Place Market (flying fishes, crowds and events) and you'll know why 3 girls bakery is known by many.
Pros: Fresh baked goods, Choice of ingredients, Pike Place atmosphere
Cons: Pike Place crowd, No bathrooms

While you do have to fight through the market crowd, this is the perfect lunch spot for a egg salad sandwich on black rye with lettuce tomato (a little onion), havarti, some dijon and horse. the meatloaf and cornbeef are pretty tasty too. Basically a more wholesome alternative to the sub-places all over town and you can pick up some of the best bakery, sweets in town. If you dont want to wait at the window, pop into the bar area, grab a stool, and get it to go...
Pros: fresh, variety, friendly staff
Cons: market crowd, kinda pricey

At the best sandwich stop in town. Forget all those other trendy joints. This is the real sandwich deal! By far, the best tuna salad, corned beef, halibut chowder, and other soups we've tried. The employees are great, and know how to make ya happy! Go for some sweets too. The raspberry mazurkas, and macaroons are to die for! The breads are fresh, crusty and warm. These folks know how to bake and have been doing for years. Keep up the tasty goodness!
Pros: nice area, inexpensive, great selection
Cons: no delivery!

One of the few places I've found in Seattle where you can get a good, old-fashioned sandwich! They also have yummy bakery items.

I'd pass on this touristy crowded hole in a wall. Hardly a place to relax from the mornings tribulations...no tables, no chairs, no great food. It's a walk through rather than a drive through window setup.

It's nice being in the market on a hungover Saturday, in the sun or rain, munching on good hot soup or a custom sandwich from Three Girls. It's always a place to meet interesting people, too.
