Great Brunch Spot
by poundpuplove
My husband and I have been hearing about this place so we decided to give it a try, and we were not disappointed. The brunch was amazing! We have sense been back several times and have taken out of town guests who shared our sentiments. The wait staff is always friendly. We have been for dinner as well and wasn’t as thrilled, we enjoy the brunch menu a lot more. The price is a little high for 2 people if you get a Mimosa or Bloody Mary, but it’s worth the splurge!
- Pros: Food
- Cons: Price
Pretty decent Sunday lunch.

I was not blown away, but it was a nice meal.
I had a crab cake with some roasted potatoes which was very nice. My wife had the cheese burger and tells me that "the meat was very juicy and the veg was perfect. The fries were nicely seasoned".
I will go out again to try the full menu. I really hope to be blown away! Please don't let me down again Seattle!
- Pros: Nice server, good atmosphere.
- Cons: Long wait to get our food.
Good Northwest fusion food

I have been to the Dahlia Lounge many times and on every occasion, I have absolutely loved the appetizers. They are always impeccably crafted and delicious food pairings.
I always enjoy the main courses but not always as much as the first course. Their beverages are good and my friends liked the wine chosen by the waiter.
Dessert is also a good choice, with many tempting offerings. The creme carmel is quite nice and one friend of mine loves the coconut creme pie. The donuts are my least favorite, but hey, someone probably loves them.
The service has always been very friendly and tasteful, and they have offered to take back choices if I didn't like them. The prices are just what I would expect for an upscale, elegant restaurant, but obviously they're not cheap.
- Pros: Great appetizers, friendly service
- Cons: None
Very "good" but not "GREAT"
by pdxJaxon
We came to Seattle on a weekend visit from Portland. We decided to have dinner at the Dahlia Lounge based on it's reputation.
We each had the "Special" of the evening which was a New York Steak.
The meal was "Good" to be sure, but I wasnt at all "Amazed".
I had Oysters as an appetizer and I was a little unimpressed. The Steaks were Good to be sure, but not any better than other restaurants that serve New Yorks.
My wife didnt like the mashed potatoes that came with the steak. They were green due to being whipped with herbs of some sort. Almost like they were trying a little too hard to be creative (I thought they were ok).
I would recommend this restaurant, but I think the expectations should be lowered a bit. For a celebrity Chef, this is NOT what I'd expect.....I was expecting to be blown away.
In short, this is a very good restaurant but not "GREAT".....
- Pros: Very good restaurant with Good food and good service
- Cons: doenst live up to the expectations of a restaurant owned by a celebrity chef
The definition of mediocrity
by rdthomps
My girlfriend and I live a few blocks away from the restaurant and decided to try it out. We had avoided it in the past because of the expensive prices but decided to treat ourselves. Don't make the same mistake we did! Save yourself some money and get a decent meal. There was nothing special about this place. Neither the food nor the service warrant the outrageous prices. We will not be dining there again.
- Pros: None
- Cons: Poor food and service
Okay food, cool service
by sandrabyrd
Our family of four came for lunch, and while the food was good, it wasn't outstanding or memorable. The salads were salads with nothing special to mark them from other restaurants, the tomato soup was good but truly not anything that stood out. What was memorable was the decidedly cool attitude of our server. She was servicable but not helpful nor warm in anyway, she was much more responsive to the businessmen lunching behind us. The lunch menu is very short, by the way. Be forewarned. If I were going to spend $20 a head on lunch, I wouldn't do it here.
- Pros: Seated promptly, food delivered quickly
- Cons: Cool service dampened everyone's good time
Oldie but a goodie

Took a big group of out-of-towners here a few weeks back and the food was exceptionally good. The service was very good, but the waiter seemed like he was new and still getting his footing. It's easy to get jaded about Tom Douglas and his "empire", but this place still has it.
I [heart] Tom Douglas
by seattlenativeconcierge
If you are a Seattleite, a transplant, or a visitor, you MUST eat at any of Tom Douglas's restaurants while you're here. I'm only doing one review but I'll cover all my bases. Tom Douglas creates masterpieces for the palate that you cannot create at home. . . even with his cookbooks. All of his restaurants have great ambiance and a unique flare in the decor. Their bakery also offers mighty fine bites.
Dahlia Lounge: hearty meals and you have to stay for dessert. I recommend the doughnuts.
Etta's: In the market, great seafood.
Lola's: Go for breakfast, lunch, or brunch. Fantastic.
Serious Pie: If the name included "yum" it would say it all.
Palace Kitchen: Go here for cocktails and light appetizers. You may make a habit of it.
Make reservations and enjoy. There's no way not to enjoy what Tom Douglas has created.
- Pros: All
- Cons: Leave the kids at home.
Great service, average food, overprized
by k_eat
The high expectations we had due to the great reviews were somewhat disappointed. While the service was great and the restaurant offers a a nice ambience the food was average at best . The seafood sampler tasted as it was prepared much earlier and was sitting a fridge for quite a while. The menu leaves the impression it is created to get the maximum throughput for the restaurant . The wine list does not seem to be paired to the menu at all.
Very Memorable
by girl_friend
I ate here with my daughter (age 15) at the end of a weekend spent in Seattle. The menu seemed rather limited, but we both took the plunge and ordered things we normally wouldn't order. The braised short ribs that I ordered were fabulous. She stills talks about the meal and especially the donut dessert. This is a great place for a memorable meal.
