AVOID THIS PLACE !! It's a rip-off.

by brianbbb at Citysearch

Rude staff. Very, very noisy rooms. My wife and I could hear every word in the adjoining room. Overpriced. Tiny room. Tiny bathroom. Antiquated.... have to share the very slow elevators with cleaning and catering staff. The two adjoining restaurants are overpriced and mediocre. We got the feeling all they want in this this hotel is your $$$. Many examples of this.... here's one: they charge $10 to make a long distance call, no matter what the length. They advertise "free internet".... there's one computer to use for the entire hotel in a TINY office with NO PRIVACY, hotel staff sit about one foot in back of you facing the computer you're using!! I'd rather stay at a budget hotel next time in Seattle, rather than return to this overpriced and pretentious place.

  • Pros: Lobby is nice. That's about it.
  • Cons: Very noisy room. Tiny room. Tiny bathroom. Rude staff. Slow elevators. Antiquated. Very overpriced for what you get.

going downhill, try out some of its newer competition.

by mike206 at Citysearch

Oliver's is completely over-rated for many reasons. With its age and the increasing competition it is not the same it used to be. The only thing it has going for it is the free happy hour snacks. The food is terrible unless Andaluca happens to be open while you are there you can order off of that menu (pretty good, but overpriced). The specialty drinks are extremely outdated and I have seen other customers complain about them becasuse they are gross and the classics are made incorrectly. The bartenders are very inexperienced as I don't believe any of them have any prior experience judging from their technique and product knowledge. They claim to make the best martini in Seattle, when a martini is more than just overly shaken gin or vodka served in a big warm glass. One of the bartenders I believe his name was Patrick is extremely annoying and irritating, when I met him it was the last time I will go. Go to Zig Zag or one of the many other bars that cares obout your business.

  • Pros: good happy hour
  • Cons: bartenders, drinks

Great hotel with a great bar.

I live locally but when I want a quick getaway in the city, my husband and I stay here. I love the cozy feeling of the hotel and the bar.

Best martinis in town

by whynoteatout at Citysearch

By far, the bartenders here are some of the best mixers in Seattle. They also make good conversation and never let you sit for long without a drink. The wait staff is very experienced and everyone seems to work well together. But the martini's are OUTSTANDING! If you like watered down mixed drinks, you might have to ask for guidance. But if you like a martini the way it's supposed to be made, this is your place. The paradigm shift is the best drink downtown. Great happy hour after work and again, not enough good can be said about the bartenders!

  • Pros: Martinis, the bartenders
  • Cons: some of the bar food is bad, but the andaluca menu is close, so do that instead!

Classy place to grab a leisurely bite.

by seattlenativeconcierge at Citysearch

Was in a hurry and decided to grab lunch there with my partner. Oliver's is a beautiful, leisurely atmosphere with great bartenders. Highly recommend the Blueberry Tea. The food service was slow but the manager personally apologized without word one form me or my party. A+ for cocktails and class. . . I love it when your server knows what you want before you do. When the food arrived, it was a fresh and tasty assortment from Salumi - you know the place - and for the short wait, the manager even comp-ed our meal. I will be a patron of Oliver's forever.

  • Pros: Food is good and the service feels like you're a movie star
  • Cons: See review

Cocktails with Class

by tlc_critique at Citysearch

Oliver's is the perfect spot to take a break from shopping and enjoy a drink. The martinis, as touted, are top notch- I also enjoy their champagne cocktails. Prices are not cheap. The decor is classy - thick curtains, cozy lighting, rich colors. Take time to enjoy the atmosphere. Be aware: the place is so enjoyable that guests are reluctant to leave -- prepare for a wait if you don't get there early.

  • Pros: Ambience, martinis
  • Cons: Popular!

This classic hotel bar will make you feel like a star of the silver screen--without the paparazzi.

by Contributor at Citysearch

The Scene
The grand room maintains a relaxed, friendly atmosphere despite its luxe elegance. Tuxedoed gentlemen take their jobs seriously serving martini mavens during afternoon shopping excursions. Oliver's represents old-school cool with gold leaf-framed mirrors, wicker chairs, cafe tables and colossal chandeliers. Drinkers will feel like they've been transported to early 20th-century Europe while meeting with friends for a sedate get-together.

The Draw
A classic menu serves up civilized bar fare such as crab cakes, Stilton salad, lamb dip, soups, salads and burgers. This is the corner bar in Seattle for surveying the rush and roar of the bustling city and feeling oh-so-composed while sipping a martini. Specialty martinis are also available; try the Royal Wedding or the French Kiss.

Ahhhh...My Happy Place :)

by dyricci23 at Citysearch

Now this is what I'M talkin' about! THE BEST martini! REAL Martinis...by those that know how to make them. Sit at the bar to watch the bustle outside thru immense paned glass windows. Or, gather your friends together on the east wall tables for cozy comfort. Happy Hour freebie hot finger-food, or country pate w/toast points, the staff are always friendly & professional...no matter if you're carrying a Louis Vuitton handbag, or a knapsack from REI. Clean ashtrays ALWAYS.

  • Pros: Perfect Drinks Always, Tasty Vittles, Atmosphere!

Hidden martini paradise.

by ctac at Citysearch

Stumbled upon this place back in I guess 1998. Have been their regular ever since. Nowdays I go there at least 3-4 times a month. It is nice, upscale and cozy place. Martinies are their specialty and they know how to make them. That is why they win Martini challenge almost every year. If you are into martinies, jazz and having a great time with your friends than that place is for you. Just don't occupy the last table on the left hand side in northeastern corner of Oliver's - I like to sit there!
