Fantastic Space! Huge, never a wait

by jooz at Citysearch

I just started working out at this location (used to go to the 5th ave location near my work); but I love this place. Humongous facility, and it only costs me about $45/month.... I can still work out at the other location with that too.

  • Pros: Every ammenity you could imagine; not expensive
  • Cons: none

Great Club! Nice to finally see a change for the better

by defender90 at Citysearch

I joined Allstar Fitness a couple of years ago. I was at the club during the remodel and have been mostly happy ever since. The club was expanded and is absolutely beautiful. The classes are great, especially those with George.

I enjoy coming in and having the staff greet me, not the usual grunt I used to get at other clubs where I was a member and over the last couple of months I've met the new management who have been nothing but helpful when I've had a question, which I can't say of the previous staff. I had a problem with my bill back in December and the manager at the time (who was busy laughing with another staff member) told me when I asked him if he had time to go over my account told me no and that I could call the corporate office and speak with someone there. He said he didn't handle those types of things. Yeah, he sure seemed really busy. Recently I lost my job and was going to have to cancel my membership. I asked for the manager and thought I'd get the run around again but the gentleman that came out smiled, shook my hand and asked me what he could do to help. I was really in shock at first. Since I had lost my job he offered to cut my dues in half for 3 months which considering the rate wasn't that high it really made it easy to keep the membership until I found another job. The manager filled out the paperwork for me on the spot and let me know that if I had any other problems that I should always ask for the manager I would be helped in the club. Wow, what a change in attitude. I was expecting to get pushed off to another person but was treated as though my issue was important.

I guess the most important thing I want to put on this review is that no health club is perfect. The trainers aren't always friendly, the hours aren't the best but overall I LOVE the club. I'll recommend Allstar to anyone who asks and especially over the last few months, the new manager and great staff have made my visits even more enjoyable. Keep it up Allstar!

  • Pros: Cleanliness, classes, staff
  • Cons: Hours

Nothing but liars, dont care for customers and only want your $$$

by llorcan at Citysearch

It may look nice on the outside... but what you don?t realize is that this place is run by slimy, low class, liars. Oh, and don?t ever try to leave because they will hold onto your account kicking and screaming!

When I first joined in Jan 2006, it was a sh*t hole, but they sold me by saying a new remodel would be done by that spring. Even the posters said June 2006. The remodel wasn?t done for another year after that. And in the mean time, there was constant construction, the locker rooms were horrible with homeless people showering in them, and you could never get a straight answer out of anyone.

Now that the remodel is done, it?s still mostly the same old machines and the new ones are always breaking. No one cleans anything.

About 6 months ago, I asked to upgrade so I could go to all the gyms they had and swim at the Key location. Shawn stood there and looked me right in the eye and said I would not have to sign another year agreement just for upgrading. Now I am moving, and I find out I actually was put into another year agreement, and the club has continued to deduct my monthly dues from my account, even though to your face they will tell you everything is ok.

Do not believe a single word the people at this club say! They do nothing but lie so they can get more money to support the huge remodel they did. Jason, Shawn and the accounting department are all sleazy liars and they should be fired. They do not care about customers and only care about your $$$.

Jason, the manager, told me over the phone every customer should have an attorney review their contracts before hand and he is not responsible for his lying employees.

Go someplace with integrity and don?t waste your money or time with liars.

  • Pros: New remodel
  • Cons: Dishonest staff, want nothing but your $$$ to pay for new remodel, dont care about customers, lie right to your face, have your attorney review the contracts (per Jason the manager)

LOOOOVING IT

by grizzelda at Citysearch

I was a member at 24 hour fitness and quit because it was crowded and not that clean (in the north end.) My company has just signed up for a corporate membership here and I am loving it. It's clean, lots of equipment, lots of classes, and a fair price. Also, I love the towel service--no more having to worry about wet towels mildewing in my gym bag! I go early morning and never have to fight for the equipment I want. The staff have all been super as well. Oh and there are steamers and irons if your clothes get wrinkled, there are hair dryers, big lockers, etc... There's no pool, but they have a rock climbing wall and boxing. If you really want to swim, you are allowed to go to any of the Allstars.

  • Pros: Rock Climbing, boxing, lots of classes, plenty of equipment, towel service
  • Cons: No Pool.

Worth a look!!! Everything here is new!

by bafox at Citysearch

What a great club! They are almost done with renovations. The club is modern, spacious, and clean with options for a separate women's work out room and a climbing wall. Equipment is new and the staff is helpful and friendly. Management is hands on and takes the time to listen to member needs. Parking is provided.

  • Pros: Staff is excellent, equipment is new, rock climbing wall, General Manager
  • Cons: Class times are currently geared toward croud working downtown rather then for those living downtown

Great Downtown Gym

by jbobby25 at Citysearch

I have been a member since December and I am very happy with the gym. It has been undergoing renovations for the entire length of my membership, but things are coming together and I am very impressed. Most of the space is now open (including the new women's locker room - with sauna), personal trainers are available, and new equipment is beginning to arrive. The staff has been very attentive and helpful, and I look forward to the future!

  • Pros: Personal Trainers, Future
  • Cons: Construction

Comfortable, cozy, and convienient

by jdbrown0878 at Citysearch

The club is home to many people who work in the area and choose to use the club during their lunch break or even after work. The club is always clean and the staff is eager to assist. The club had been lacking size and renovation for quite some time, but relief is here a new state of the art facility of 45,000 sq. ft. just around the corner with rock wall, tanning salon, boxing studio and much more. Can't wait.

  • Pros: Price, Staff, Future
  • Cons: Current remodel, Locker rooms

good experiences

by haleycentoni at Citysearch

I've had nothing but good experiences at Allstar Fitness. The staff is friendly. The facilities are clean. The equipment is nice and there is plenty of it.

I'm looking forward to the expansion.

Bad experience & not even a member

by lproper at Citysearch

I recently moved to Seattle & have called at least 6 or 7 clubs today and every single one of them was very nice & helpful and very willing to give me specific pricing information over the phone...except for All Star Fitness (new name for this gym). The manager I was transferred to would only give me a very large dollar range and tell me that I needed to "come by for 5 minutes" to get specific pricing.

I explained to him that every other club gave me pricing & that I wasn't going to waste my time coming by unless it was a gym I was fairly interested in and he still would not. Based on this experience, I am definitely going elsewhere.

  • Cons: , No phone pric'g given
