What's not to love?!
by listentomywords
This tiny little breakfast joint is incredible! I am something of a eggs benedict connoisseur, and these are by far the BEST. The hollandaise is absolute perfection! You may have to wait a bit because this place is pretty popular, but you'll have a delicious cup of coffee in the meantime. A word to the wise...call ahead and place your name on the list...you won't wait as long. What you will do is enjoy a DELICOUS breakfast in a small and quant restaurant. Enjoy!
- Pros: GREAT food, great atmosphere, good stuff
- Cons: none...unless you hate deliciousness.
I had to give it 1 star because there was no 0 star rating

Ridicuosly long wait for dirty tables, chairs, menus - and how long has that jam been in the jar on the table? The service was HORRIBLE by everyone, our food was cold and bland when we FINALLY received it. Had to beg for our check so we could get out of there!
I have no idea why anyone would give them their service - I know I never will again. I am assuming that this was a great dive breakfast joint in the past, but no longer.
- Pros: I never have to go there again
- Cons: Horrible service, cold and bland food, dirty
Sigh

I have signed up solely to give this place a bad review. Let me preface: I used to love Glo's. On a lovely summer day, this place is great. The hour wait isn't so bad when you can bask in the sun. And the food here really is fantastic. I would also like to say that I have worked in restaurants for five years, instilling in me a great empathy and patience with servers, cooks, and restaurant staff. I understand how stressful and awful it can be. I totally get it.
Having said that, the servers at Glo's have absolutely no idea what they are doing. I'm throwing in the towel on this restaurant. I give up. So Glo's, if someone comes up to put their name on the list and asks how long of a wait, here's a tip: look at the list, look at the room of full of tables, and tell them the truth. If there is at least two turns worth of people on the list before them, TELL THEM THE TRUTH. I was told 30 minutes to 40 minutes. I waited patiently. Then, after fifty minutes, I asked how much longer. They told me there was one table before me. I asked them how much longer they think that would be and the server, irritably and condescendingly, explains to me, "Well that all depends on how long people take to eat." YES, I KNOW THIS. However it also depends on how long YOU take to take their order, make their food and give them their check. I guess that's hard to gauge when you are standing outside talking to friends. YOU work here so YOU know how long it will be. I am trying not to presume, so I am asking you. I ask again. She says twenty minutes. Oh, okay, so the first time, when you said 35 minutes, you meant an hour and ten minutes. Thank you, so much, for that clarification. Thank you for stringing me along. If you had told me the truth the first time, I wouldn't have even bothered waiting. But if you just slowly add on more time every twenty minutes or so, I'll keep waiting, won't I?
Glo's, screw you. You aren't worth it.
- Pros: good breakfast
- Cons: everything else
Warning

Wow, I heard this was a great place to have a good breakfast...Hmmm. Well lets see you wait out in the rain for over 20 minutes then you are seated by the (not happy) waitress o here menus thrown down on the table. Then 20 minutes later the water arives waitress off again another 20 minutes your order is taken hoping for a coffee refill, NOT 20 minutes after that your order dropped and you better ask for anything you aare going to need then including the check unless you have alot of time on your hand. I order the california eggs beny, the cook lost one yok in the water and the other was hard boiled. To sum it up save yourself some time well alot of time and pass on this GLO' experience.
- Cons: Parking and seating right next to the restroom
Great service?for those with low self-esteem

Gone are the days when Glo herself sashayed past your table to refill your coffee and make a tart remark, when it was worth waiting outside, even in bad weather, for an hour or more for a table in this tiny restaurant that has a well-deserved reputation for pretty good food.
Nowadays, you wait an hour in bad weather to be called in to seat yourself at an available table and promptly and consistently ignored.
If you get a coffee refill within half an hour, count yourself lucky. If the waitress (a bored, distracted slacker looking the worse for wear from the night before, who spends most of her time making inane small talk with her coworkers) takes your order within the next half hour, give yourself a pat on the back. If you get your food within the next half hour to forty-five minutes, eat quickly, because that will signal to someone?anyone??that you might actually need something: a refill on your coffee or water, the check, or maybe even something else to eat or drink. Who knows? They don't, because they don't care.
What a dreadful place Glo's has become. The help is deplorable, even if the food has remained acceptable (that is, if you ever even get it; there have been tales of patrons never receiving their orders). Whoever owns this place should take notice, especially as it's far from the only breakfast on the Hill, to say nothing of town.
What I say to the ownership is: Fire your staff and replace them with people who care. Otherwise, I and my discerning friends, whose self-esteem is intact, won't eat there ever again.
- Pros: Decent food
- Cons: Awful service
You want them to polish your boots, too?

Glo's is one of the best places for breakfast/brunch in town. They freshly squeeze the orange juice. They do take the time to make your meal the right way. The short, brunette waitress is awesome, and remembers you. My boyfriend and I have been going here for over 2 years, when we moved about 2 blocks away. They NEVER had an issue with to-go orders, even happily chopping up my boyfriend's side of sausage. I took my mom and my aunt here for a late breakfast one day, and they LOVED it, asking every time they're in town if we can go to Glo's. Mom and Dad have gone there with me and my boyfriend on a few occasions, and have always been treated very well. I always have the eggs blackstone, which is amazing, and I've tried to replicate it at other places when I can't have Glo's. If you arrive before 1pm, yeah, you're going to wait, because it's that good. But if you can't understand that, and get all butt hurt that the waitress doesn't immediately pounce on you because, heaven forbid, she might actually think you'd like a few minutes with the menu and to relax and chitchat with your companions, or, even more unheard of, that she might actually be BUSY, then move along. More coffee and o.j. for me, and others like me who love Glo's!
- Pros: Coffee and a constant supply of cream and sugar while you wait, fresh o.j., delicious food, great staff
- Cons: No parking, long wait before 1pm, self-serving hipsters that take up tables ahead of you.
What is all the hype about ? ?

A trendy dive?
A cool "in the know" spot?
Because it?s not a chain?
There?s something that brings diners to Glo's. Is it the coffee that you can sip while you?re waiting for your table? Is it the fresh made daily hollandaise sauce? For us, it was because we have read in every Seattle rag and online review about how great Glo?s is. . . . What have we been missing? Well as it turns out, not much.
If you go, bring a book or an entertaining companion and a lot of time on your hands.
Sipping our coffee with others out front, we waited over 40 minutes for our table (a very popular place) though we could see that they were slow to clean/turn the tables. There were only 2 servers, but come on, there are only 13 tables.
Once sat, our server came by our table a few times - water pitcher, coffee pitcher - but wouldn?t take our order (?. . . I?ll be back to take your order?). The ladies were doing a lot of hanging out behind the counter though, talking, enjoying the morning, taking names for the wait list, but definitely not rushed.
20 minutes at the table and our order was finally taken after we had to ask, again. Apparently, there was some confusion over which tables were sat before the others (the server told me the order that you are sat is the order that they take your food order) so we sat some more.
The menu is expansive and there is something for everyone. We had the California Benedict (of course) and the simple one egg breakfast and began another waiting game. Again , bring a book or share The Stranger.
Food took another 25 minutes (2 cooks, but again, only 13 tables).
We had invested over 2 ? hours into this experience.
I would?ve tipped more, but they just didn?t deserve it.
The results:
Coffee: good, then again, it?s coffee and this is Seattle.
Hollandaise: overrated, way too lemony.
Service: very slow but with a smile.
Time: Efficiency would improve wait times outside and at the table.
Would I go back: not a chance.
- Pros: local, friendly
- Cons: service, hollandaise
Always happy!

Not worth the wait
by mandag
I had seen the lines outside of Glo's and decided it must be worth the wait, so I went for Sunday brunch. In reality, it wasn't worth the wait at all. There was a 30 minute wait for a table (which wasn't so bad), but once we sat down, it took the waitress 15 minutes to take our order, then another 45 minutes for the food to arrive. The couple sitting next to us had a similar wait, and I couldn't help but notice that as soon as their food was on the table, they inhaled their food as quickly as they could to prevent from starving. The food was okay, nothing to write home about. Not what I would consider good diner food (compared to San Francisco & NYC diners). Considering that our total wait time was over an hour and we ate for 10 minutes (albeit the coffee was flowing constantly), I will never eat here again.
our food NEVER came, zombie waitress did not care
by kwoolford
Our food never came and the waitress kept blowing us off. We asked about our order and she just said "Ok". Eventually, everyone who had been waiting in line behind us was inside and had their food. We finally left. On our way out, we told the waitress that our food NEVER came (which she knew) and we were giving up and leaving. She said "Ok - whatever". She probably never placed our order. Strange experience. One I don't plan to repeat !
- Cons: uncaring zombie staff, you can order but may not ever get your food
