Best Brunch in Seattle by Tess T. at InsiderPages

My boyfriend and I are avid brunch people (we go every weekend). Shortly after we moved to Seattle, some friends of ours recommended we try the Rusty Pelican. Wow! This place is amazing. Not only do they serve excellent coffee, with the thickest cream you've ever seen, but their breakfast is out of this world. I absolutely love their strawberry waffles and crepes and my boyfriend always orders the corned beef hash. I've tried various other menu items and never been disappointed. You must check this place out!
Happy Hour

A friend and I dined at the rusty pelican for a late lunch and loved it! As soon as we walked through the door we were greeted with friendly and cheerful service. Once we sat down I was caught off guard by the happy hour menu. With the purchase of a draft beer, wine, or mixed drink any selected entree, and appetizers on the happy hour menu is $ 2.50. Some of the highlights from the menu include Fish Taco and fries, Buffalo wings, and chicken quesadilla. Besides the happy hour the Rusty Pelican offers an immense selection on their regular menu that is sure to have something that you would like. I ordered a draft beer and the fish taco from the happy hour menu. The fish taco was made with grilled cod, served with lettuce, diced tomatoes, mango salsa, and a side of fries. The fish taco was delicious, the mango salsa added good flavor however the entree was a little small for a full meal. For 5 dollars it is a bargain, If you are looking for a quick relaxed cheap eat I recommend Rusty Pelican?s happy hour from 3:00-6:00 P.M.
- Pros: Solid happy hour
- Cons: Could be overwhelmed by the ambiance

My extended family met here on a whim one Sunday. We couldn't have been happier with the experience. The food was delicious, the staff was friendly and efficient, and the atmosphere was relaxed and not too quiet (we had 4 kids with us). A pleasant experience all the way around.
- Pros: prompts seating and service, friendly atmosphere, very good food
Best everything, I've NEVER had a bad meal any time of the day.

The service is excellent. The servers are polite and prompt, and just attentive enough to not make you feel pestered. Their food all tastes fresh and home cooked...and don't even get me started on the desserts...heavenly! I always take out of town guests here...they all wish they had a place like this back home. LOVE IT! :)
- Pros: Great food, service, environment
- Cons: Wish there were more parking

I love this place! I live in the Wallingford neighborhood and am always up for a trip to the Rusty Pelican. Great selection, yummy biscuits and fresh bread, good coffee, and amazing atmosphere. There is a ton of room in the restaurant so there is hardly ever a long wait and the parking in the back makes it an ideal place to go in Seattle. My only complaint is that sometimes the waitstaff is a little slow or forgetful...but always friendly! Definitely my top recommendation for brunch hands down!
- Pros: Great food, Great selection, Good Parking
- Cons: Sometimes slow service
There is nothing good to say about Rusty Pelican

We already knew the food is bad and the atmosphere is tacky but the coupon got us! Buy-one-get-one-free can be irresistible.
We should have resisted! The food was truly awful. There is nothing worth ordering on the menu. Picture the menu at IHOP, then triple the prices and you have the Rusty Pelican menu. As for the food, picture something you would get at IHOP, then take out all the years of market research and product development, leaving behind only cheap food and amateur cooks. The chicken was dry; the salads were bitter; the overcooked veggies were tasteless; the lasagna was a gooey mess.
We didn't complain its low to complain when you plan to pay half price. Then the check came and the waitress informed us that they weren't taking coupons that day. Great. For the same 40 bucks we could have gone to a much nicer place.
- Pros: Free Parking
- Cons: Overpriced, Bad food, Tacky Atmosphere
We love it!

My husband and I love the Rusty Pelican for breakfast. True, we have to wait sometimes because we can be lazy and go when churches are letting out or just when it is peak time, but it is worth the wait. My husbands favorite item is the Wallingford Omlett. He gets it almost every time. The service can be a little off, but if you are not in a hurry, it's ok.
- Pros: Yummy Toast, Coffee w/ heavy cream, Deco like mom's house
- Cons: Slow service, Sometimes loud kids
Best Breakfast in town

Over the past year I've been to this restaurant for breakfast and lunch several times with my friends , and has not once been disappointed. Food are excellent. Staff are friendly and professional. Although it can get crowded in the morning on weekend, amazingly there seems to be space for everyone. We never had to wait long.
This is a place which will easily remind you of your grand mother and her delicious home made pie! So, if you are looking for good food, you come to the right place!! Although I can symphatize with people who prefer 'hip'/ modern atmostphere, you also have an option to walk out as soon as you see that you do not like the decoration. However, in that case, you'll miss the real treat!!!
You might want to plan to skip lunch if you will come for breakfast.
- Pros: value, services, cleanliness
- Cons: crowded, kids
Smelled like baby food

A friend and I decided to try breakfast here.
The first thing that hit us when I walked in was an overpowering smell, like babyfood.
We were seated at a table that was dirty, with food on the seats.
The waitress kept putting other people's dirty dishes on our table as she passed by and when she took our order.
The cinnamon roll was OK, but my skillet breakfast was blah. It was edible, but not good.
The table next to us, a church group, was engaged in a very loud and offensive conversation of a political nature, which only made the mediocre food that much harder to swallow.
My companion couldn't finish his meal, either, (crab benedict) he said it was gross.
To top it all off, the waitress vacuumed under our table while we were still sitting at it.
Don't waste your money. This place isn't worth it.
- Pros: seating
- Cons: stinky, bad service, bad food
Forgettable

And it takes up such great Wallingford real estate! Alas, very forgettable. I love diners and I love the idea of a affordable diner in Wallingford. But the space is almost too big, I have always felt kind of drafty and floating around in the enormous dining room. I haven't had breakfast there, but the dinners I have tried have been very sort of...blah. I would love it if it improved.
- Pros: Location, friendly staff, good prices
