Not my favorite Thai

by Paidneff

After reading the positive reviews, I was so excited to try out Sea-Thai. I got my order and was highly disappointed. Not only was my Phad Thai not spicy, it was also room temperature. It should have been hot because I ordered it on the spot . The noodles where also undercooked, stuck together, and had a very bland flavor. The peanut sauce had a good texture but the taste was strange and leaves a bad after taste. The veggies were fresh and I did enjoy the salad that came with the meal. The service was very good even though the food wasn't my favorite. My server was attentive and helpful with reviewing the menu. I am going to avoid this Thai spot because of the bad taste and I would suggest you do the same.

Average Food, but fresh taste

by ceci9916

On Labor day, After I throw away the horrible thai Food I got from Lotus Thai Restaurant at Walliford, I was still hungry and want thai food so bad. So I spend 20 minutes to for a search, and I choose Sea-Thai(buz others don't open on Labor day!) I ordered the exactly same thing: Shrimp phad thai, green beans with oyster sauce. Thank god they didn't disappointed me. The noodle is a tasty and the carrots is RED! (NOT BLACK OR BROWN CARROTS LIKE what I got from Lotus). The green bean is Fresh! Average taste. Take a little points off because the phad thai is a little bit too sweet for me, a little bit too wet(Good Phad thai should be tasty but dry- at least not too wet, means not too much sauce but can still taste the sauce, like crispy hot wing with not hot sauce at KFC), and the green beans is not crispy, too soft. But over all, average taste and most important, fresh!

  • Pros: Fresh ingredients, average taste
  • Cons: have hard time to understand the owner's English.

Extreme Disappointment

by ChefBell

Heard the ads on the radio, Read lots of reviews, finally went on 8/18/2008.

Ordered two lunch dishes, L1 combo chicken & #5 Phad Thai chicken.

Went to wash up, Bathroom walkway not clean or easy to navigate.

soup came luke warm, plate came curry was barely warm and curdled, chicken sparse & hard.

never had Phad Thai covered with browning iceberg lettus, gross...

Phad thai was overly sweet and mushy also cold. And where's the chicken?

Thai spring rolls way over cooked as if twice cooked

they were dark brown not golden as you would expect. FOOD WAS THE WORST THAI EVER!!

Paid the bill & walked out.

  • Pros: none that I could see
  • Cons: Food,, cleanliness, parking

Best Thai in Seattle!!

by ReebsInSeattle

I LOVE this place! The avocado green curry and the red curry with the owner's special spice blend are my favorites, but the old stand-bys like the green papaya salad and the tom kum soup are great as well. For those who like it hot, this place delivers. I am one of those people who can't ever get enough spices, but I can get a 4 on their scale (1-5), and be more than happy. For some crazy reason, this place isn't mobbed during the dinner rush, so you won't even have to wait in line.

  • Pros: Great food, no waiting, easy parking, really nice servers
  • Cons: No real ambiance, but just right for a comfortable neighborhood place

Great Thai food and restaurant experience in Seattle

by utilisateur052008

My son and future daughter-in-law took me to this little gem for

mother's day dinner and we thoroughly enjoyed the dishes that we

ordered. The yellow curry was flavorful with lots of chicken pieces

and the right amount of spices, the green papaya salad was fresh, the

pad see iew had just the right amount of toppings and

seasoning and the phad thai tasted just like the ones we had tried

during our various stops in Thailand a couple of years ago. We shared

the mango in sticky sweet rice which was excellent. If the indication

of a good restaurant is by the number of return customers, then

Sea-Thai would definitely fit the description as some of the folks who

were eating there that night were regulars. The owners are very friendly and helpful.

Best Authentic Thai food in Seattle!

by jjrosey

I am a huge Thai food critic and SeaThai is hands down my very favorite Thai restaurant in Seattle!

Being that I lived in Thailand for 2 years I consider myself a pretty good judge of authentic Thai food.

The owners are very friendly, and aim to please all who come to their cozy, authentic restaurant.

I have had almost every one of their dishes that they offer on the menu and all of them are amazingly delicious!

The past reviewer obviously has no knowledge of "real" Thai food, sounds like he is more of an Americanized Thai food critic. The sum tum salad is a traditional dish in Thailand and SeaThai is the only restaurant that is able to serve it perfectly, spice and all. Their Thai desserts are to die for, hats off to SeaThai for making me feel like I am right back eating in Thailand. Thank you for your delicious, spicy, Thai cooking!

  • Pros: Food, service, and desserts!
  • Cons: none

Very disappointed for a number 1 rated restaurant!

by sledbaby

I tried Sea Thai for the first time last night. Craving Thai, I thought I'd try a new place and took the #1 rating and most the good reviews at their word. Seriously? I called for take-out (they delivery also). When I picked it up, I saw there was only one couple eating (a bad sign at any good restaurant on a Friday night!). The pork in the Phad Thai was terribly overdone and dry, not much flavor on the noodles, and many of the noodles were overcooked and dry as well. I also ordered garlic prawns, which is my go-to dish and one that I judge at every restaurant. It was more like a garlic prawn salad, simply sauteed prawns, which were tasty, but over iceberg lettuce and onions versus the broccoli, carrots that most restaurants use. Overall, not a great experience and I won't be back. Who is judging and reviewing these places??

My Favorite Thai Restaurant in Seattle

by leverious

For food with lots of flavor and care put into it - Sea Thai is the place to go... Also the delivery area is wide and comes to us in Phinney Ridge so it's extremely convenient. They make the best Tom Kha Gai and Tom Yum Gai I've ever had, and the Tom Yum Gai is particularly good if you're feeling under the weather - with it's spicy chicken broth filled with lots of good herbs and spicdes, it will perk you right up. Also love the Mieng Kahm - leaves that you roll up with a variety of fillings, including peanuts, toasted coconut, chilis, ginger, lime segments, and a sweet sauce - it's pungent good stuff... even my 8-year-old loves it. Also highly recommend their green papaya salad, the crab/cream cheese wontons, and the Moo Tod (ground pork patties.... I believe this is run by a family, all of whom are very friendly and helpful... SeaThai is truly a little gem.

Disgusting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

by zazesmom

I have been to many restaurants in the Seattle area and always try to find new places to eat. I got two bites into my Spinach Delight and when to take a bite of my Pad Thai when I discovered a non-food item in my food. Absolutely disgusting.

  • Pros: Unsanitary
  • Cons: Looked good

Very Good Food and Delivery!

by minnesotan_1981

I love that they deliver! I agree with the user below, a 2 is plenty. My boyfriend loves heat and the 3 was even just a tad too much for him! (Although that didn't detur him at all...it was still very good). The cream cheese wontons are fabulous! The pad-thai is very good, but I did find myself wanting more bean sprouts and lime. But still very worth your money! My boyfriend always gets the peppered beef, super good. The dipping sauce that comes with the appetizers is super sweet but great! I've also had the red curry chicken and it was good.
