Poor quality food, fine service
by JohnOfWallingford at Citysearch
The food at Chutney's has been a great disappointment on the last three occasions I ate there. I love Indian food and live right around the corner so I keep going, each time hoping that the last time was just a bad night. In my experience, every night is a bad night at Chutney's. We had the chicken appetizer, which was almost too dry to swallow and had a mild cardboard-like flavor. Chicken Biryani was rice colored with a coarse sauce flavored with pepper and little else. It was embedded with the same dry, orange-tinted chicken breast served as the appetizer. We ate only a few bites of the dish and discarded the remainder. The mint lamb kebabs were tough, dry strips and were the best meat dish of the evening. "Saag" Kofta was pleasant and the rice served with it was cooked perfectly. We had an order of plain Naan which was excellent. The last two times I ate at here were similar: one or two adequate dishes surrounded by an almost inedible mass of other dishes. If you are forced to eat here, you may do better sticking to vegetarian meals and you can't go wrong if you just stick to Naan. The service was quick, friendly and professional.
- Pros: The naan was good
- Cons: Most of the rest of our meal was dry and/or flavorless
Great lunch buffet - amazing outdoor seating

Great patio, excellent place to relax, and the food is delicious (although can't vouch for authenticity), it's not cheap, but well worth it
- Pros: Excellent food, great patio
- Cons: not cheap
Ehhh
by BritDolan at Citysearch
OK, when i go out for Indian I am really looking for authentic Indian food. I understand that anything we get here in America isn't totally traditional, but some places do it much better than Chutneys. I mean, they honestly served caesar salad as part of the lunch buffet! If I wanted salad I could have walked across the street to the QFC and bought something for much cheaper. The food overall isn't bad, its just not that good considering how many good Indian restaurants we have in this town. Well, I guess they can't all be good.
- Pros: Affordable Lunch Buffet, Easy to Park
- Cons: To Americanized
Bland food, poor service, small portions
by CupCake at Citysearch
It appears that the people who have given this restaurant good reviews are not familiar with good Indian food. This is the worst I have ever eaten.
The food arrived cold and very quickly so it seems it was frozen and heated in a microwave. The portions are very small (for food and drinks). The quality of the food is inferior.
The stand-offish owner only talks to diners he thinks will spend big. The wait staff hover around which is uncomfortable. It was like a Gordon Ramsey Kitchen Nightmare episode.
I am intrigued to know what other diners liked but I won't be returning to find out.
- Pros: Parking convenience
- Cons: Poor quality dining experience
Rude Owner
by Tmama at Citysearch
I love good Indian food. I would have loved for this to be my local restaurant. However, the owner who obviously works very hands on, is very rude and snooty. Especially for the mediocre food and an over-priced lunch buffet. All of the flavors were very dull and disappointing. That was my last time.
RASMALAI-out of this world!
by jennygarth at Citysearch
I feel like it's my duty to tell everyone out there to please try Chutneys BIstro's Rasmalaii next time you go there or if this is the first time you're planning on going there. It's so good that my husband and i always get it to go even after having a serving each there. Please try it. I'm not sure if it's on the menu or not but ask for it. I promise you will love it.
- Pros: Rasmalai, tikka masala, parking, service
- Cons: wait on weekends once in a while
Great customer service and great food!
by Ashlymin at Citysearch
I've been going to Chutney's for several years now. They recently moved to the SW corner of their building. The new place looks amazing and they did a great job with the interior. I usually go there on Friday nights with my buds to hang out at the bar and enjoy some cold beer from their huge selection. Recently i took my fiance for the first time and she fell in love with the place too. We both are now hooked on Chutney's lamb kebabs and their seafood curry. So much so that we're in talks with the owner to cater for our wedding. We are so extremely excited to have our families taste this amazing food. I highly recommend this place. The food and customer service are amazing.
- Pros: Ambience, Bar, Parking, Food
- Cons: Some times there's a wait on Friday nights
Truly one of the worst Indian restaurants in Seattle
by usdesi at Citysearch
So, recently I started cooking my own Indian food and thought I'd start a little review of all the Indian Restaurants around the Seattle area. UNLIKE the Chutneys' in Bellevue, this place is horrible, despite a nie comfortable atmosphere and locale to Wallingford. The food was terrible, the buffet is priced incorrectly and in typical Indian style (I'm born and raised here so I know when I see a greedy uncle lying to get customers), he gave me something about the price being incorrect and sorry for not honoring it. ... interestingly enough the price is still improperly marked.
Stay away from this place, if you are craving Indian food, try Taste of India.. the food is much more authentic and the atmosphere resembles that of a dhabba style but great people and amazing food!
Nice restaurant with elegant decoration
by shinidapooh at Citysearch
First of all, don't be fool by their price. It is now $8.95 for lunch buffet instead of what they say on the internet. We questioned the owner, and he said it was an old price and did not honor the price (but he should have change it regardless of how old the website is). Also, their restroom is outside of the restaurant, since the restaurant is part of the center; the restroom is actually located inside the center. You have to walk out the restaurant and push in the code for the door in order to get in. Another thing that kind of bothers us was the owner were trying to sell you drinks, which did not make us very comfortable. Overall, the food was nice, ordinary and usual Indian food. There are four desserts (three cold, one hot), two salad, chicken coconut, rice, spinaches, pea tofu, roasted potato, fried onion, tandori chicken, lentils, and fried rice. The upsides are the parking. Conveniently located right next to the restaurant, and you can enjoy a nice walk around the town after your meal.
couldnt think of anything else

after so long i had some free time from work to spend for myself and my family. city search helped me find the perfect place. chuneys bistro is the best amongst other indian resturants i have been to. my family loves spices and we couldn't find a better combination of spice and fresh healthy food anywhere else. i loved the brunch they had. the buffet was awesome and the deserts and pastries...uuuuuhmmmmmm its still mouth watering to me.
there were really nice booths so i completely relaxed with my family and had a perfect day.
thanks for making my day !!!!!!
