Great Local Bar
by SeaGal20
Come here on summer afternoons to get a spot on the patio where you can enjoy a tasty beer from the ever-changing tap list. Great inexpensive bar food with a neighborhood atmosphere.
- Pros: Local Beers on Tap, Patio with a Bar
- Cons: Frat boy central on Friday and Saturday nights
General Manager should be fired! - wait staff evaluated, our not so great
by dubya2008
We went there before a show. We were all excited to have some Mac n Jack's and sliders (a burger appetizer). The waitress, which took FOREVER to come to our table, informed us they were out of both. My girlfriend jokingly said "why didn't you hang a sign out front," and I jokingly said, "Why is your front door open, without Mac you guys should just shut down shop." Our waitress said on Sundays they always run out of popular stuff. I work in the restaurant industry and if my restaurant went out of something on any day we would be mortified because of the bad planning and management.
So anyways, we ordered their beer of the month. I gave the order and said, "but we need the beer (a pitcher) right away. Our waitress said ok, but very irritated.
Our beer came 10 min later. She plunked down 3 pint glasses, stacked on themselves, with the pitcher, rolled her eyes, and said "Here you go." We separated our glasses and poured our beer.
When the food came, she brought us our fries and chicken wings, with no individual plates. No napkins. To her credit she said she forgot napkins. 10 minutes later, after her taking orders and delivering food, my girlfriend asked if we could get napkins. 5 min later we got them.
After we ate, our napkins were on the plates of carnage, while she walked around to other tables. She walked to our table and walked away. My brother jokingly said to us, "Uh,NO, We're ok, everything is good here." We all laughed.
Another 5 min of our napkins on our plate, pitcher empty, she came by and asked if we were done. We said yes and asked for our bill.
2 min later we got our bill. We paid it and left. Through a window as we were leaving we saw that she re-entered the patio and the first thing she went to was her $2 tip. My brother and girlfriend encouraged me to stiff her, but I didn't. Without attitiude I would have tipped her like $7-8 dollars. But she sucked!!!
- Pros: Central to Fremont
- Cons: Food OK, wait staff jerky
Simply put: Walked in, walked back out

Best Steak Salad and value!
by desireedralle
I often frequent the Red Door at night, but have just recently ventured there for lunch. We both order the steak salad. It is only $8.95. Now most steak salads run around $15-$16. And this is the best we've both had. It has gorgonzola, fried tortilla strips, yummy rib-eye steak, tomatoes, red onions, and more. This is such a great value and it's enough for me to have 2 meals! We've already gone back to get the salad and I'm sure we'll be going many more times.
The WORST service ever!
by Jasminett
We stopped in for lunch after walking the Fremont Sunday street market. The outside seating was nice and the food was passable. However, the service was the worst I have EVER experienced. Our waitress stood and talked to a table of people, obviously her friends, across from ours almost the whole time we were there. She brought food that was cold with no plates or silverware. I had to walk over to the bar and ask a bartender to get them for us. We were eating our food off of napkins while our waitress was too busy talking to her friends to notice. I could go on since there is more I could complain about that, but I won't. It was obvious to us that our waitress could have cared less. It was beyond bad service. We won't be back. I gave our rude server's tip to the gal next door at the smoothie place. The service there was great! My suggestion, skip lunch and have a smoothie next door. It will be a much nicer experience.
- Pros: cheap happy hour menu
- Cons: horrible service

Went to Red Door for a work related function. Our group rented a private room. Service was poor but with such a big party we were tolerant. I ordered food but decided not to eat it because of the crush of people and lack of space. I boxed it myself and took it home. Once home I realized that in my salad there were pieces of greasy foul smelling fried fish that did not at all belong. Disgusting! The kitchen staff totally scraped someone else's plate and served it to me. I called and was left on hold for twenty minutes. I just wanted to return the food and get my money back but no one was willing to talk to me. I'll never go back. I am also sorry that our company spent so much reserving a room. What a total waste.
- Pros: None
- Cons: Terrible food handling
Horrible Service
by lt7
I used to go to Red Door all the time on weekend nights with friends but I will not be returning. The past few times I have had horrible service. Bartenders/waitresses are rude and inconsiderate. You have to wait in line forever to get a drink. This place is usually pretty busy but I've noticed in the past few months it's not the usual, trendy crowd, but a bunch of out of towners who must have heard this place was cool. I would not recommend going to Red Door; there are many other bars in Fremont that are far superior, where you can find more respect.
Best bar in Fremont!

I love the Red Door! It's chill on the weeknights and packed Friday and Saturday nights. The bartenders are friendly, and the food is good if you're looking for dinner. The inside is dark with wood all over the floors and walls. It's a good place to bring a date during the week- but go on the weekend if you are looking to meet people.
- Pros: Food, crowd, service
- Cons: can be too crowded on weekend nights
good singles scene and beers on tap
by binman69
kinda reminds me of a place sorority girls would go....good tap beer....the location works and is a good place to meet friends or hang with the locals. it gets crowded and is good for singles and people watching.
You must be joking...

For your information, johndarksinned (nice Freudian slip, pal), we DO discriminate against one type of people: jerks with no social skills. Where do you get off thinking that you can belligerently hound our staff, call them "white trash" to their faces, and then have the gall to accuse us of being bigots? I've done some checking up on you with some friends I know in the service industry, and all of them say that you're just the kind of classless, annoying, petulant creep that would pull a stunt like that. In the future, you'd better have a leg to stand on when you go accusing people of something as pernicious as racism, be it personal or institutional. Too bad you're not welcome here; otherwise you could come in and see just how many great folks of every stripe and walk of life we have working here. And to those valued, loyal customers who are kind enough to come see us when they can, thanks a million for your continued support and generosity.
