A Fremont art treasure! Fun, eclectic, interesting ... amazing place to find local and interesting art
by confwriter
This Fremont store, Frank and Dunya, is one of the great art outposts in Seattle! Funky, eclectic, bizarre without being kitchy -- you should go just to LOOK! But... don't just look. There is ART there. And talk to the people who run the place about what the store holds. They really know their stuff, art-wise, and a conversation with them is as much a treasure to your mind as a visit to the store is a gift to your eyes! It's a great place to go when you need that gift that is REALLY unique!
- Pros: unique, eclectic, innovative, interesting, good service, knowledgeable
- Cons: too much stuff to see at once! It's a sensory overload (which means you'll have to come back!)
Fun, functional and colorful creations by Northwest artists.

In Short
For more than a decade, this store has helped foster the whimsical nature of the Fremont neighborhood. Sculpted likenesses of Frank and Dunya, the owners' former dogs, invite customers into this shop where 95 percent of the artwork is created by Washington artists. Pieces range from ceramic toothbrush holders to mugwort-filled silk dream pillows--slip one under the mattress to recall your nightly visions.
