A great dining experience!

by koriander

My husband and I, tourists from Florida, were wandering Chinatown looking for "the right restaurant" for dinner. We stopped at Ho Ho to browse the menu, and the hostess encouraged us to join them. My husband had a good feeling about the restaurant, and when they said they had Shrimp and Honeyed Walnuts, the deal was sealed. After reading the numerous good reviews in the dining room, I settled on the Oysters in Garlic and Scallions, a specialty. We also ordered fried rice and an appetizer of squab. Everything was served family style, with large portions. The squab and oysters had a nice spice, and the Shrimp dish rivaled the Hawaiin version. This ended up being my husband's favorite restaurant during our 10 day trip. If we are ever back in Seattle, we will definately return to this restaurant!

  • Pros: Friendly staff, great food
  • Cons: We don't live in Seattle

Chinese seafood specialists

by Gary in Oly

A friend and I came up from Olympia to enjoy an afternoon at with the Seattle Symphony. Afterwards we headed down to the traditional Asian district to sample some not too typical cuisine. I had eaten at Ho Ho about 5 years ago and decided to try it again.

After some suggestions by the wonderful hostess/server and some other patrons, we had enjoyed a wonderful dinner in a very relaxing and friendly atmosphere.

Try the #27 in the Seafood section - Walnut/honey/shrimp. A place I would come again.

  • Pros: Service and menu were a pleasant surprise
  • Cons: Restaurant is not in the heart of the International District

Cheater

by Kane W

I went to this Chinese restaurant in Seattle Chinatown for dinner after my Alaska cruise on August 29th,2009. I would like to share my bad story that I had in this restaurant. First of all, the lady came to our table to hard sell the most expensive items on the menu, although the name of this restaurant is called "Seafood" restaurant but it does not mean that I really need a "seafood" for my dinner. The lady (she might be the owner of the restaurant) always hard sell the live fish, live lobster to me and my family, and after we ordered some Set dinner for my 5 people, she did not come back to social anymore.

And, the waiter gave us a bucket of steamed rice but they did not ask if we want it or not, finally we had to pay $5 for the steamed rice separately.

Also, the terrible thing was that they charged me $6 dollar for a glassof soda. $6 can buy a glass of beer in most of the restaurant in Seattle already.

I knew that it's my fault too because I did not check the price carefully before ordering the soda but I found that they were still cheating us.

  • Pros: Better than nothing
  • Cons: Hidding price

Historic Location - Bruce Lee's Kwon

by OldGuySLC

This building was used by Martial Artist Sifu Bruce Lee. It was his school location called a Kwon, where the famous Bruce Lee taught his earthshaking martial arts style.

Perfect for two! Get two different $20ish dinners and order beers. The manager throws in her wonderfull spicy green bean dish which complements the Spicy Garlic Crab and/or the wonderful Halibut plate. What a taste treat!

From Hal the "Guy from Salt Lake" and appreciator of Bruce Lee style martial arts, who stopped in with friend Christian who is also an appreciator of Wing Chun/Jaetkundo. Why isn't the Seattle Historical Society all over this location. What a legacy we have here!

  • Pros: The spicy green bean dish - Free!
  • Cons: NO Posting of historical location Bruce Lee's Kwon!

Authentic Chinese Cuisine

by YYFR

Besides great seafood dishes, all their fried rice dishes are great. We are from San Francisco, but this Restaurant is as good as any top Chinese restaurants in SF. If you need help in selecting dishes, ask for Pauline.

  • Pros: All seafood dishes are 5-star

Amazing Chinese food

by MTMT

This place has amazing Chinese food. I realize there are other places in the vicinity but none come close in my opinion. Their salt & pepper squid, as well as salt & pepper pork chops are amazing. For a little extra coin, order the crispy rock cod. Can't miss with house special chow mein too.

  • Pros: Salt & pepper squid and pork chops to die for
  • Cons: Nothing

Great Food - Great Price!

by Scouter

I have been going to HoHo Seafood since 1986. It has been the same great food and friendly service since day one. My favorites are the General Tso's chicken (order it spicy), the Crispy Halibut, the Beef with Oyster sauce and the Spicy Garlic Sauteed String Beans. Now even my kids love it. We dine-in and take out it makes no difference. Eat at HoHo Seafood then go see the Sounders or the Seahawks or the Mariners. Everything is right there close by. Enjoy - Two Thumbs Up. Scott

  • Pros: Fast friendly service
  • Cons: Parking

Yummy Chinese Food for Anyday, Anytime!

by lilihunnybun06

What more can you ask for? This place has got to be one of the BEST Chinese resaurants in Seattle! Everytime I've been here, I've had a good experience with the wait staff and the food is always delicious. You can tell the owner really cares about her customers and makes sure you will be satisfied with your meal! This is actually quite a surprise and something I really appreciate, since I've noticed that many Chinese restaurants dont exactly put customer service at the top of their priority list (take Purple Dot, for example...the hostess looked peeved and stared at my family with an unwelcoming look). Their decor and fairly new remodel is even much more comfortable than your average Chinese restaurant.

Eating seafood here is a must. They are most famous for their crab! But even if your just looking for a simple, cheap meal, their staples like chow mein/foon, stir fry dishes, and fried rice are great too! You know, I also have to say this restaurant is underated as a late night restuarant. When club goers and late night eaters have the Chinese munchies, they flock to places such as Honey Court and Purple Dot. I guess a lot of people don't know that HoHo is also open until 3am on Fridays and Saturdays! This place (and atmosphere) sure beats crowded restaurants filled with drunk people. It also helps that the waiters are nice and patient with you while you are drunk and oblivious/belligerent/sick/whatever =).

Give this place a try. You won't be dissapointed!

  • Pros: great food, great service
  • Cons: ??

my china town fav!

by mawwam2001

Ok as a seattle native I am no stranger to authentic cuisine and have long fancied the international district as a fast getaway to the exotic. Several years ago a well travelled friend of mine took me to this restaurant for some of what he acclaimed to be the best variety of authentic hong kong cuisine seattle has to offer. I was hooked. I can honestly say i have walked through the streets of seattles international district in search of some competition and have yet to find a place as consistant, friendly and casual as this resurant. No matter what night you drop in and at what hour you will likely be greeted by the friendly staff and encoureaged to bring your friends to share some food and comradery....open 24 hours 7 days a week and even 365 days a year your can get a bowl of the best seafood won-ton soup north of sanfrancisco's own international distict. so as chinese new year comes to an end i welcome the year of the ox ( a little tid bit of info the friendly hostess shared this evening) and kudo's to you, ...it's been 5 hours since i left you and i still could not eat another bite!

One more friendly tip, try the almond chicken. it's to die for.

  • Pros: food is awesome.
  • Cons: parking can be troublesome at some times of the day.

Best Chinese food

by sunnyinAZ

The food here was exceptional - from the green beans to the fried tofu (outstanding!) and the hot & sour soup. The owner was very welcoming. I was in town on business and was brought to Ho-Ho by my associates - everything was yummy. The hot tea was a nice plus... I will be back whenever I am in town!
