Mission-inspired burritos that inspire a loyal local following.
by Contributor
In Short
The wrap-ups are reminiscent of burritos from the Mission District: Everything's wrapped in huge, handmade tortillas, and spice lovers can add jalapenos or hot sauce. Dig in to a jumbo (with rice and beans, choice of chicken, beef, pork or fish, plus salsa that's made fresh daily) or a super (add sour cream, guacamole, cheese and extra napkins). Vegetarians can order a meatless version, with a choice of whole or refried beans.
This food is horrible!
by GarbageFood
I've gone to this restaurant twice in the past 2 months, mostly due to the fact that the location was convenient. I was sorely disappointed both times! The quality of their ingredients are on the extreme LOW end. The rice, especially, is by far the most depressing. My second visit I bought a burrito and the corn/bean side they threw in the burrito was expired, pure sickening taste in my mouth! It was disgusting. I think management was trying to cut back on variable costs and decided to keep the food around a little too long. Long story short....avoid this dump of a place.
friendly staff

i agree that taco del mar is not the most authentic, tastiest mexican food around, but it's great for a quick meal. i am not calling their food bad by any means, but there are definitely more authentic places to go (maybe not in seattle). i go there every once in a while for lunch while I am working downtown and have never had a bad experience. they are so friendly and polite, which can be slightly hard to come across during the busy lunch hour in downtown seattle. i am eating my baja bowl right now and i am very happy. thanks taco del mar!
- Pros: friendly service, quick meal
- Cons: not authentic
Unsanitary, Poor Food
by jlkramer
This restaurant is unsanitary and has low quality food. I felt sick after eating here. I was SHOCKED to see it listed on Best of Citysearch. I'm not sure what the appeal is.
On the plus side, it is cheap.
- Pros: Cheap, Convenient
- Cons: Unsanitary, Poor Food

Great Psuedo Baja Mexican Food
by noff72
I have lots of experience with Taco Del Mar AND "Real Mexican Food." (I lived 5 years in San Diego) I first would like to note that Taco Del Mar attempts to produce Baja style mexican food which is a bit different from traditional mexican food. Nonetheless, while Taco Del Mars version is not perfect, it is a great lunch place, tastes better than most fast food type places and I go there all the time. Your not going to get any great mexican food (for the most part) in Seattle so Taco Del Mar is a great alternative.
NO BUENO!
by hufflepuffer
Won't be going there again. I asked the burrito guy what kind of fish is used in the fish tacos. He made a face, lifted the cover off the bin, picked up a fish chunk while flopping it around saying, "some frozen whitefish". Maybe he was trying to be funny. I decided to pass on all burritos. My friend had a meat burrito and said it was alright.
- Cons: unprofessional staff
As real as I need for $1.99
by commentator
What do you expect for $1.99??? This place is perfect for a fast lunch. Order a side of rice - ditch the beans - with a dollop of salsa, add a fish taco (yes, I know it's a fish stick!)and you have a nice little lunch. Do NOT go here if you want great Mexican food. In fact, don't go anyplace in Seattle. There isn't any good Mex here unless you are at my table!
- Pros: speedy service, prices, nice folks
- Cons: fish sticks, runny beans, stale cookies
Hungry for a fish burrito...
by sports_nut
go to your local supermarket get a box of frozen Van Da Kamp's Fish Fillets, grap a cheap bag of a dozen flour tortillas from the store's shelf (myself prefer the inexpensive Riquisimas brand flour tortillas). At home toss in that jar of saurkraut from your fridge. You know, the one from the last Okterberfest party you hosted...years back. The older the jar the crispier the cabbage. Add any white sauce you can get your hands on. Put the fish and cabbage into the tortilla, add the sauce, fold tortilla in half, put on plate. Add scoops of beans and rice to the plate. Enjoy! You just made a Taco Del Mar Fish Burrito. Wasn't that MmmmMMmmm good!
- Pros: quick
- Cons: you call this FISH!, where's the POLLO, PORK in mole
Taco Del DEATH
by BigVulture
After trying to eat this "food" I expected to see Dr.
Kevorkian to come along and end my suffering but no such luck. The Burritos are ok if you like rice since that is the primary filling in them, very little meat. I refused to try the fish taco that a friend had offered after tossing my uneaten meal in the trash.
- Cons: Terrible food
