Cold icky dim sum

by glittergalaxie at Citysearch

I went here after not wanting to wait at Jade Garden (which is very good). They have a sign hanging out front that says "$8.95 all you can eat dim sum", or something to that effect. So it sounded good, but it wasn't. The food was all cold, and I swear to god some of it must have been made the day before where it then sat around and was put back on the cart for Sunday. The bau was very gross, and they only had the baked version. Even all the fried shrimp balls were cold =( and the carts were all dirty and covered with old food pieces. The tea was good but that's about it asides from the daikon/taro cakes because they had the little hot plate on the cart to fry them.

There were a lot of white people eating in here, which is a bad sign for dim sum (I am white so don't take offense).

  • Pros: cheap, all you can eat dim sum
  • Cons: you don't want to eat that much

Worst service and bad food

by Susan Y at Citysearch

We knew and ate at the restaurant for years once for a while. At the first two years, the service were good, the food was OK, the price was good. But now the service is bad, the food is not fresh, the price is high.

In April we went Ocean City Restaurant. The manager led us to set the table with opened(may be broken) window. It's too cold. So we changed the table and let him know. But he was not happy with it. We ordered the food. One of the dishes was cold. The manager agreed to warm up. Another dish taste was bad. The manger denied to change it or credit the charge for the bad dish. The manager is terrible persinality. When you come to their door, he smiles to lead you to the table. But if you have any complains, his face changes and no negotiate.

If anyone like Dim Sun, I refer you go to Kings Chinese Restaurant at 13200 NE 20th ST, Bellevue, WA 98005. The phone number is 425-378-8009. At Kings Restaurant, the food is good, either the price. Also you will get better service.

Compare, you will know which one is good, which one is bad.

  • Pros: The worst service

Very bad foods

by JRo at Citysearch

We really love to have our wedding banquet at this restaurant, it's a nice place. One night I asked my girlfriend and my family to go there and tried some dishes, but the foods are so bad after we tried them out. We did not want to pay the bill in full amount but they have a good service. So we decided not to have our wedding banquet at this restaurant unless the foods are very delicious.

Meh...icky

by fuhd_eater at Citysearch

=( Our dim sum was cold. My bao tasted like wonder bread and was cold and hard. I really can't say that anything I ate here was good or that I would ever go back. Maybe I'm just spoiled by Jade Garden and Joy Palace, but this place really pales in comparison Its a good deal I suppose if you want to eat a lot of food and aren't that picky.

Actually if there were no where else to get dim sum and I really wanted some...I guess I'd go back.

Adequate food, questionable attitude.

by Seekheater at Citysearch

Summary: Food was good, but the customer experience was lacking. We went for the $8.95 "all you can eat" dim sum buffet. We were surprised by a fairly aggressive insistence that we pay first (I'm fine with paying first, but the request was very brusque), and that we had to be given a ticket to hand to the waitress who seated us (3 feet from where we'd just paid). The food was tasty, with nothing obvious to complain about, but above the buffet line was a sign informing us (roughly), "Do not waste food. $5.00 per plate charge." The table service (tea, water) was prompt and courteous. Our overall impression was that of decent food and hostile customer relations. Given the apparently stingy mindset of the management, I'm forced to wonder what corners get cut in the kitchen? For my money, Duk Li (across the street) is better value, better customer experience.

YUCK YUCK YUCK

by littlefawnl at Citysearch

I went here recently with some coworkers. The service was horrible the food was worse. The "Vegie" meals had bits of meat mixed in with them. The only good thing was the walnut shrimp. I will never go there again. I still have a MSG headache.

As good as I remember

by mmiragee at Citysearch

On a recent trip to Seattle, decided to come here again as I remember the food was pretty good. I was not disappointed. The food was really good, the servers were friendly and a big improvement on the decor with a recent(?) remodel. I would definately come back again on my next trip.

Don't go!

by DesertKoala at Citysearch

I have been to plenty of dim sum style restaurants throughout this state and this is the worst. The food and service were terrible. The selection of food was minimal and they ran out of some dishes. As for the service, the carts took TOO LONG to make it to our table and the other guests.

Do Not Try!!

by atsugari at Citysearch

Went in there on a recommendation and we were the only three people there during dim sum time. It felt like twlight zone because I'm chinese and my friends were non-chinese the staff began talking to each other about us in chinese like we were some type of exhibition that they are forced to serve. When we ordered some dim sum it was the worse dim sum I've ever tasted we order 3 dishes for 5 people and then left. A rule of thumb for chinese people: if you tried the shrimp dumpling and shu mai the basic food of all dim sum if it tastes good it means it's a good place, bad it means you should hightail it outta there. A Lesson Learned: don't go to a dim sum place if there is no one there.

  • Pros: In Chinatown
  • Cons: Bad food, discriminate against non-chinese speaking people
