Great place all around
by red_nina
My boyfriend and I LOVE this place, especially if the owner is there. He treats us like we're famous. Cozy atmosphere, and we never wait, even if it's busy. Great staff, the food is good, and I could drink their chai for the rest of my life, it's soooo good!!
- Pros: Best chai you've ever had
Best food and service (unless the evil sister is running the show)
by Pamelaxx65
I have been frequenting this restaurant for close to 12 years now and the quality of food and wait staff has always been first rate!!, The food is incredible, the wait staff attention is first class!! I have taken every family member and date to this restaurant. Every dish made is quality-I have yet to taste chai tea that even comes close to theirs -oh and the spinach nan -heavenly. My favorite dish is mutter paneer, and a must try is the butter chicken! My far my favorite restaurant!
Great food, INSANE servers!

So the food here is really good, I have no beef with that at all. I love the nan, mango lassi, chai (SO good), and tikka masala. BUT...the waitstaff is RIDICULOUS. You can hardly have a private meal without someone bugging you every two seconds, like someone else wrote "I dare you to finish your water"--it's impossible! And annoying to always have someone hovering, waiting for you to leave your glass less than 2/3 full. Then, at the end of a meal they come and bring a SPONGE (hello, germs?!?!) and they clean the table in front of you. Any idea how many germs are in sponges?!? Completely disgusting, I never touch the table after that...sponges as so unhygienic.
In short, go for the food, but be ready to shoo away servers after each sip of a drink!
- Pros: Mango lassi, chai, tikka masala.
- Cons: Intrusive servers---NOT a good place for a quiet dinner.
Awful Food
by delhirocks
They might aswell start serving pastas, 'coz the food they have is closer to Italian than it is to Indian. I mean c'mon, in a place like Seattle with such a cosmopolitan crowd, Indian food gotta be more authentic than it is in rural alabama.
- Pros: Nice ambience
- Cons: food
Great food, amazing service, reasonable prices
by aryuw
This is one of my favorite inexpensive restaurants. The food is consistenly tasty. The service is amazing. They are friendly with the regulars like myself and most everyone soon becomes a regular. I'm especially fond of the mango curry chicken or prawns and mullgitawny soup. There is a tiny parking lot, but parking on side streets is free and not too hard to find. It can get rather busy on weekend nights, but I've never had to wait more than 15 minutes to be seated.
- Pros: good food, great service, reasonable price
- Cons: okay, so the floor is kinda slanted...who cares?
Avoid weekend evenings
by kiwicharles
walking in you know there is going to be a wait as when we went on a saturday night there were people lined out the door. After getting our seat I was suprised people came here with the lack of service. We waited a long time for anything we asked for. The food was ok but not worth the hordes of people and the price would not be something I would come back for either. It is an ok Indian food place but like many other Indian food places around the sound.
- Pros: Large menu
- Cons: No parking, lack of service
Excellent food and service!
by wwb
Taste of India has excellent food, but the friendly and efficient service provided by Mohammad and his staff makes it an outstanding favorite of ours! We love the Tandoori Chicken Tikka and the Chicken Tikka Masala...always accompanied by the Paneer Naan and bottomless Chai Tea. There's always a crowd, which should make this an obvious choice!
- Pros: Excellent Food and Service
What's the deal with this place?
by cenobite
Every time we drive past this restaurant it is bursting at the seams with people waiting to be seated. My girlfriend and I, who eat Indian food regularly, decided to try it... It was AWFUL. The food is bland and very Americanized. No flavor. If you love this place, I strongly suggest trying a different place to see what you are missing.
- Pros: None that I am aware of
- Cons: Awful food
Hordes of customers, lightning-quick service and dependably good fare at this beloved Roosevelt Indian restaurant.

The Scene
Crowds spill out onto the sidewalk on most nights, clamoring for what many locals claim is the best Indian in town. The two dining rooms of this converted house are cozy with low ceilings, packed-in tables and Indian tapestries on the walls. Service is a speedy, finely tuned machine with an emphasis on table turnover--this isn't the place for a long, lingering meal.
The Food
The tasty curries, masalas and tandoori dishes keep crowds coming back. Appetizer samplers are reasonably priced, offer a wide range of fried treats and come in meat and vegetarian options. There's a long list of naan varieties--the version stuffed with creamy spinach is a savory winner. For entrees, the saag paneer and butter chicken are the stuff of local legend, but there's not a faulty dish on the menu. Soothing kulfi--Indian ice cream made with sweetened condensed milk--makes a nice finish.
