Tried all in the menu and like all except sweet and sour chicken . Highlight is chef jungles around his 5-6 pans non-stop with super speed and he never forget to taste before he finished up and passed the used pan into his prep cook hand just right speed. This is really incredible . Customer beside me call him George . He is tiny but really fast and very concentrated on his work . I keep comming back when I get in town . But George has very spicy hand his 5 stars ooh hell hot dont try problably he make most spicy food in town .The service is not really good but you must not care if you really like good -fresh food right in front

I don't like waiting, but I was not disappointed that I did. It was the best Thai food I've ever had! I wish I didn't have to get cash out beforehand and I wish the rice didn't cost so much, but whatever. I liked watching my food being cooked in front of me and I loved leaving there smelling like Thai food. The leftovers were amazing the next day.

The rave reviews are accurate, the food here is great. The resturant itself however, is extremly small. The chairs are really wierd and feel like they are ready to break. Deffinetly not the place to take a big group or if you want to be comfortable while eating. This should be on your short list of top take out Thai for sure. Try the Garlic and Peper chicken, it is really fresh and well flavored, with a great mixture of vegatables to accomidate the grilled chicken pieces (technical stir fried, but no battered like some garlic thai chickens, really great).
Pros: Great Food
Cons: Service isn't great, Resturant is really small, hot and crowded. Really cheap and uncomfortable Seating.

I had heard about this place (as being the best and cheapest Thai in the U-District) and decided to check it out last night with a friend. We went around 630pm and were seated immediately at the bar. The chef was friendly and asked us exactly how we wanted our food prepared, making it perfectly spicy. Although the place was packed, our food was ready within 10-15 minutes and brought steaming to the table. The staff was very nice and helped us with the menu, since it was our first time being there. The food was absolutely delicous, with fresh veggies and meat. And after all of that, my bill was around $8. I will definitely be going back there--don't listen to the bad reviews! This place is worth any wait.
Pros: friendly atmosphere, great food, cheap eats
Cons: small place, but worth the wait

After reading all of the terrible comments on city search I almost didn't go to Thai Tom. I'm so happy that I did! It is a super small place but it has so much charm. It had amazing food and was such a fun atmosphere. We had both the red and the yellow curry and they were both awesome. The music was good and the server was friendly. They were busy so she wasn't the most talkative server I have had, but it was great. I would recommend this place to any friends and I will be going back!

was horrid like really, really bad chinese food even smelled like that. Nasty oil taste on everything. Worst Thai in Seattle! This was nasty, I don't see how it could get worse. Usually bad Thai food is just not great, but edible, this was horrid. Nasty re-used oil for months maybe? AVOID this hole!
Pros: none
Cons: nasty old oily food. no Thai flavor at all.

I've been to Thai Tom 5-6 times in the past, and always liked their food. But I am not going there ever again due to the service I received tonight. This is what happened: I ordered a dish that turned out to be really salty, but thought that I'll just let it go this time and ask for more rice. When we got the receipt, the total was wrong by $2 more dollars. We figured that the servant prolly charged us for the rice (which costs $1 as stated on the menu), but take that into consideration, the total is still wrong by $1. This is our conversation with the servant thereafter: Me: Sorry sir, I'm just wondering if you charged us for the rice? Servant: Yeah I did Me: Well, I don't think we should be charged for the rice, my dish was really really salty (pointed to the dish, it was very black...), I just wanted some more rice to go along with it Servant: What?! it's like that..blah blah blah...(turned to the chef and spoke in Thai language very loudly) Chef: You know what??? you don't like it?! 99% of the people like it!!! [some arguement here, I was very mad at this point] Me: OK fine, even if you charge us for the rice, it's $1 as listed on the menu, but the total is off by $2 Servant: No!! It's $2!! Me: The menu says $1! Servant: We changed the price long time ago!! The price on the menu is wrong!!! Me: What?! shouldn't we expect to pay as according to what's on the menu?! We argued for the next 5 minutes, with the sevant pointing his fingers 3 inches in front of my face and cursing at me. I certainly did not pay that extra $1. I'm the type of person who cannot stand rstaurants delivering this type of service and still make money. If you are like me, please do me a favor and stop letting Thai Tom earn our money. If you really want Thai food on the Ave, try Little Thai, Thaiger Room, or Thai 65. Their food is just as nice as Thai Tom.

I have only eaten at this restaurant once or twice. When I first came to seattle I asked some of the locals what the best place for Thai food was. Almost every person said it was Thai Tom. Wanting to see what the fuss was about, I got a friend and came for dinner. The wait is always horrible (I know because I see the line just driving by). They really need a new location with more seating. The portions are tiny. The noodles are always burnt. The chairs have NO BACK. It is so uncomfortable to be crammed in to this dive and sit on what feels like an overturned bucket. There are so many thai places better than this one for around the same price where you don't feel like a sardine. If you are looking for a place on the ave I recomment Thai 65.
Pros: cheap, good location
Cons: almost everything else: uncomfortable, not very good food, long wait

The food was alright, but that mostly came from the strong spices and sauces they used, which is too much after a while. The service however is horrible, not only did we get none, but while waiting about 45 minutes for a food, the heating system was wholly in adequate while we shivered on our seats. The place was also dirty. The waitress was rude and gave us mean looks for no reason.
Pros: hot food, good location
Cons: awful service, dirty, mean spirited staff

I have been going to this restaurant since it was with the original owner. The restaurant recently sold and the new "owner" is running the business very poorly. Tonight, we got there, the food was not prepared fresh. The food was taken from a counter and looked like it had been microwaved. Service is EXTREMELY BAD, the waiter who calls himself "the owner" (without anyone asking) will take napkins away from your table if he thinks you have too many. The quality of ingredients, service, food preparation, and restaurant conditions have taken a nose dive. Even by Asia street vendor standards, this place is not clean. The group behind us waited 20 minutes, while others were seated before them until they got into a fight with "the owner". In Short, the new owner has destroyed a great thai restaurant and I will not go back.
