Spent a lot and left hungry.
by WastingMyTime
I heard that the Sand Point Grill is under new management, and had some special deal for kids, so I thought I'd go and check it out. I ordered the risotto because I'm a fan of Gordon Ramsay's Hell's Kitchen and I wanted to try it out. What I got was what seemed an appetizer sized plate of rice, peas, and bacon (no sides with risotto).
It tasted very good, but that was $20.00 including tax and tip, and when I got home I had to put a bunch of chicken nuggets in the toaster oven to finish dinner for the night.
Hey, it's rice and peas and bacon bits! Any idea how much of this dish I could have made myself with $20.00? There would be plenty of profit margin left if the portion was twice as much, and this would be a four star review instead of two.
So, if you really crave the expience of spending a lot of money for a little tasty food, this is the place for you.
- Pros: Tasted good
- Cons: Not much of it.

The first time I went to this restaurant, I loved it, and I was sure that it would become one of my regulars. The decor is very chic and modern, and the servers are friendly. However, as I continued to come here, I began to notice that every time I sat down for a quiet meal, some family would walk in with a young baby or a toddler who would inevitably start screaming half way through my meal. It's hard to take a restaurant with a large bar and a mature design scheme seriously when they offer mac n' cheese, and allow two-year-olds to run around their dining room at 7 PM hitting their patrons with balloons. I've since started to think of this place as a Chuck E Cheese in nice clothing.

The Sandpoint Grill is one of the best neighborhood grills in the area. The staff is extremely friendly. Kyle the weeknight bartender is a young hunk, who knows how to pour a good head and mix a great martini.
The food is always excellent. Seating is flexible. If you are without the rugrats be sure to sit at the bar.
Order Spanish coffee.
Great location, a CHEERS bar if ever there was one in Seattle.
- Pros: Friendly, neighborhood eatery
- Cons: None

Beloved bistro on Sand Point Way delivers well-executed seasonal standards (fried chicken, grilled salmon) to neighborhood families and couples.
Great place to have a drink and get a bite

- Pros: Food, Kid friendly, Service
Nothing spectacular

I must agree with the A bit overrated comment. The food was basic bar & grill fare. Preparation and presentation were lackluster. The place was very kid friendly, but not particularly cozy or homey. The fish was overcooked, and the portions kind of small. The bar did look ok, and they had Mac & Jack (our new favorite beer). Overall, not inspiring.
- Pros: Good for kids, Ok bar
- Cons: Overcooked Fish, Small portions, Uninspired food
A bit overrated

While I liked the Sand Point Grill, I don't consider it among Seattle's top restaurants. We were seated right away, but placed at a table in the bar. It was so strange to be the only people to be seated there. After spending a minute perusing the menu, we asked to be re-seated in the restaurant rather than isolated in the bar. The menu was small. The albacore tuna was cooked too much (should have been seared raw), both the fish burrito and the tuna were SPICY, and the creme brulee was ice cold (top should have been warm). If a meal is spicy, it should say that on the menu, or our waiter should have informed us. The spinach salad was GREAT, as was the tenderloin special. Our server was very attentive, and upon overhearing it was my MIL's birthday he added a candle to her dessert.
- Pros: ample offstreet parki, pretty artwork
- Cons: small menu, too many spicey foods
Always great!!!!

I always am surprised by how great this place is! I travel about 200,000 air miles a year and have dinned in almost every major city in the world and the Sand Point Grill is still the best. The food is always just the right amount. The pork chops are the best. The mixed drink sellection is great. The people who run it are very friendly and the waiting time for seating is reasonable.
- Pros: Good Parking
Great food, great service

We love the food and the great service, although our favorite dessert in the world was taken away! (Warm chocolate bundt cake a la mode) Also miss the hushpuppies but other things on the menu make up for this loss.
My husband's new love

He tells everyone about this place. My daughter and son are also caught up by his feeling that this is the best eatery in Seattle. I guess he is right. I love it too!
