Great bookstore

The university book store is one of my favorite seattle books stores. Not only do they have good prices and wide selection of textbooks, their selection of other books is hugely extensive. It's a really nice, relaxing atmosphere (except during the beginning and end of UW quarters). The staff is very friendly and helpful. Also, they have really good special events. The husky shop is pretty cool and the people in the media center are helpful. Overall, it's a really great bookstore.

• Pros: Great selection, great staff
• Cons: parking is a little annoying

It doesn't take a scholar, or even a student, to appreciate this book collection.

The University Book Store doesn't attempt to beguile customers with cozy charm; it aims to provide the most comprehensive book selection in town. Mission accomplished. Ferret out obscure titles in the general selection, where notably strong collections include travel, professional/technical, education, and a celebrated science fiction section. Stock up on art supplies downstairs, pick up purple-and-gold boxers in the gift shop or grab a latte at the coffee shop.

Very comfortable atmosphere and interesting events. Friendly staff will walk you to your book and make recommendations on similar books.

Not just for students . . .

I became familiar with the bookstore as a student at UW but I find myself going back there almost every time I visit Seattle. They certainly have a fine collection of Husky gear, but they also have an amazing selection of books and are willing to order almost any title not in stock. Their music section is great for classical and world music. If you're looking for top forty hits pop across the street to Tower Records.
