Due to the recent cold June Seattle weather, I felt like some good soup! After seeing that Nana's was relatively close, and had gotten excellent reviews on City Search, I decided to give it a try. Very excited by a nice hot bowl of soup, I went by on Saturday June 7th at about 1:00. To my dismay, Nana's was closed! I checked and rechecked their hours of operation confirming that they are supposedly open from 7:30am-9:00pm on Saturdays. Not even a sign to explain why they weren't open! Next time I'll call before I make the drive!

Pros: Good reviews from other people

Cons: Not open during regular hours

I had the good fortune of stumbling upon Nana's a few years back. Since then it has become my favorite place for comfort food in the city. The baked potato soup is fabulous, and the home made cornbread muffins can't be beat. I have yet to find a soup I don't like, and their sandwiches are incredible. I can't think of a better place to eat on a cold, rainy Seattle night. They cater to Vegan, Vegetarians, and meat eaters; and they serve beer and wine. What more could one want?

Pros: Everything!

Cons: Street parking...though not too tough. Good for groups under 8.

Nana's baked potato soup has had me coming back to this small mom & pop restaurant for the last 4 years. True, the prices are a smidge high but the soups are some of the best in town and the atmosphere is tough to beat.

Pros: awesome soup

Cons: easily crowded on busy nights

Nana's Soup House has the most delicious soups in Seattle. I like their sandwiches, too and their tasty cornbread (the day-old stuff is tasty and cheap). They have lots of little booths to sit in. Food comes pretty fast. They have cold soups in the summer and music on certain days. Thursdays, maybe?

Pros: tasty soup, fair parking, live music

Cons: sort of spendy

If you are looking for a soup, salad, and sandwich joint, this is the place. The ambience is hip but cozy. Service was great and the food is unbelievable. We've been talking about how good the corn chowder was for days now! The sandwiches and salads are fantastic too. Even the music was great! They have live music thrusday through saturday nights which I have not experienced but I bet it's good. (If it isn't I am sure the food will make up for it!)

Pros: Food, Music , on the 74 bus route

Cons: none

It is exactly as the sign suggests: "A place where friends meet." The soups are excellent. Vegan, vegetarian, and meaty soups are available. The sandwiches are wonderful (my favorite is the Caprese). My only beef is that it's a trifle expensive, but it's a neighborhood joint that makes their food from scratch so I'm not complaining. I've never had a bad meal there. Neither will you. Try the lentil & brown rice if you're vegan, baked potato if you're ovo-lacto vegetarian, or the chili if you go the meat route.
