The Chai House on Leary is a roosting home to transients who park out in front ...sell narcotics, and mark up our memorial to our Scandinavian Heritage.
- Pros: Worst Cafe Spot in Ballard
- Cons: Vagrants, Narcotics, Hipsters
worst open mic i have ever been to
by cornbreadearl
i went with my friend to mr. spots open mic on thursday, feb. 5 the atmosphere started off good, but the stoned DJ, desperatley groomed to look like Kurt Cobain, was so self impressed that he felt confident enough to disentertain the audience, and slow the performances with his pointless drivel.
not thinking taht the night could get any lower, i was unpleasantly surprised when a transient (im assuming), pulled out a childs doll, the kind that little girls put make up on and wipe off, and proceeded to scream about how since the doll was fake, it was unfuckable, and how he had pink eye.
he really did have pink eye, and was scratching his disgusting conjunctivitus contaminated eyes and then holding the microphone. the DJ was unphased and allowed the ranter, who had no poetry or music to share, a few extra minutes to complain about his pink eye, and then wiped the microphone with a rag.
this was the most disgusting thing that i have seen at an open mic, particularly one where food and drink are served. mr. spots is a vile place that is frequented only by the lowlife degenerates who can at best, barely pose at being unique. if originality is a lack of hygeine, than im a square.
- Pros: none
- Cons: disgusting
Good alternative to bars (Although they do serve beer)

Mr. Spot's defies classification. It is part chai house, part neighborhood tavern, and part live music venue. It is quite enough to during the day or early evening to bring a laptop and crank out work, but becomes a live music spot at night. It hosts an open mike and local djs. Nice ballard hangout.

Ballard standby brews fresh Morning Glory chai on-site and offers assorted vegan munchies; live music and comedy most weekend nights.
