disgusting

by prettynpink3323

i went here with my dad tonight because it was right down the street and neither of us had tried it. walking in we stood there at the front podium for about ten minutes before anyone aknowledged we were even there. when we were taken back she asked if we wanted a booth or table and i said booth and she sat us at a table anyway. i ordered the egg flower soup and #2 combo. the soup was digusting and didn't even come with crackers. The egg roll was not good at all either. just tasted like a mini omelete deep fried, there was maybe 2 pieces of lettuce in it. The almond chicken gravey was probably the grossest i've ever had, it tasted microwaved. the pork fried rice tasted old and crunchy. i guess the chicken chow main was ok. it was the only thing i ate. the chairs were odd, and all the other customers were def over 80. The whole time I kept commenting how I wouldn't come back here. I didn't even take my leftovers home.

  • Pros: the waitress refilled my water every time i took a sip
  • Cons: food,atmosphere

Great priced lunches

by roxy3

We stopped in at Louie's the other day to try their lunch menu. A friend had just gone and recommended it. The menu has quite a few items and they are all resonably priced. Service was fast and friendly. Food was outstanding. Great atmosphere.

The only negative thing I would say is it is dark on the outside so it doesn't look open. Trust me stop by because they are open from 11am until 12:30am.

Great Happy Hour

by jenners1

A group of my friends came into Louie's to celebrate our buddies birthday. It was to be our first stop of many planned. When we got there we saw the happy hour menu and special drinks of the day. We ended up staying there in the lounge for the entire night. The bartender and waitress were awesome. They went out of their way to make sure we had everything we wanted. That is not something you find in restaurants and bars any more. The kicker for the evening is they had a psychic doing readings for who ever wanted one. It was a blast. If your looking for a place with a great staff and great food Louie's is the place for you.

Awesome food and staff

by JParker2

I took my family for dinner the other night. It was my sons birthday. I was impressed with the pleasant staff and the size of the restaurant. Our waitress was wonderful. The food was fabulous. At the end of diiner our waitress went out of her way and presented my son with a happy birthday sundae. I happened to find the lounge on my way to the rest room. It looks so inviting. There is a fireplace for those cold days and I saw their happy hour is half price appetizers. It had at least 10 items to chose from. Over all it was a great experience. We will be coming back for that happy hour for sure.

  • Pros: Friendly staff and great happy hour
  • Cons: Bathroom is downstairs

Avoid unless you have had your taste buds removed

by gretchenjane

This is one of the worst chinese restaurants I have ever been to. The food was completely bland and flavorless, and no insult to the older set, but that's who was being seen there and perhaps they like their dishes that way. The gyozas were the only redeeming feature, and only because of the nicely balanced and spicy sauce provided. The 1970s decor has not been updated since then and the low lighting (probably designed to keep you from seeing the state of the decor) is depressing. There is much better to be had, although not in that area.

  • Pros: Parking, service
  • Cons: ambience, food, value

the worst food i have ever had in seattle, you have been warned

by funkthehouse

I knew from the minute i walked into this rathole that i was in for it, the carpet was extremely dirty and actually everything was dirty from the chairs to the table and even the overhead. Back to the food, i could make better chinese food at 3am after a long night of drinking + blind folded and i don't even cook chinese food. Everything tasted like it was microwaved with tons of nasty sauce to mask the horrible taste, nothing was fresh the vegtables tasted like frozen ones that you reheat in the microwave and the egg roles looked and tasted like they had been frozen for 10 years and then heavily deep fried the night before and then microwaved to give it that added nasty soggy effect. Not only was the place dirty, the food disgusting and service was terrible too!!! the server didn't ask our group one time if we liked our food, the golden rule is 2 minutes aftery you are served, i left holding my stomach!! i hope i don't get worms or some kind of parasite from eating here :( oh yeah everyone there was at least 80 years old, i have nothing against old people but as you age you loose your sense of tatse, vission, and smell and i guess if you lack all of those then maybe this is the place for you

  • Pros: leaving and never comming back
  • Cons: everything

I paid full price for tainted food...

by fuhd_eater

Nastiest meal consumed in a restaurant. This place is down the street from my house, so we thought we'd give it a try for lunch. There was a sign posted in the entry way of the restaurant stating it had received points as a 'neighborhood favorite' or something of the like. The worst thing about this place was that I found garbage in my food! An old and obviously very cooked twisty tie (the paper covered metal type) was in my chow mein. When the wait staff was notified he actually didn't say anything, but took the twist tie away, and still charged me for the dish. The rice was cold in the middle, it tasted like it was microwaved leftovers from the night before. The chow mein was very clearly made from over cooked top ramen noodles and lacked any type of flavor. The rest of the items were okay at best, and only because they did not appear to have been reheated and did not contain garbage. The ambiance was terrible as they had 'Jingle Bells' playing repeatedly. Not different versions of the song, but the same track looped over and over again. I would never ever in a million years recommend anyone to eat at this restaurant. EVER.

  • Pros: None at all
  • Cons: Nastiest meal I've eaten in a decade. Tainted food.

Kids love Orange Chicken

by irisphnx

We have been here a few times with our kids (10 &12) they love to look at all the nic nacs and the tall booths keep the noise level down. The staff are always pleasant and the food is reliably good. We're not super adventurous, my son is downright predictable in his choices. Our favorites are the hum bow, bbq pork, egg flower soup, orange chicken, pot-stickers, and chow mein dishes. Sometimes food can be a little slow, but on a busy night with lots of families in the place that's what I would expect. They also have a small banquet room for parties.

  • Pros: free parking
  • Cons: bathroom could be updated

Good Hot & Sour Soup, that's about it....

by seattlegal34

Well, the service was very good, and the tea was hot and strong. I work 3 blocks from this place and always avoided it. Any place without windows is extremely suspicious to me! But I have a cold and only hot and sour soup would do. I ordered the prix fix lunch which was the soup, some weird bland dish with under cooked seafood (the prawns were RAW) and over salted green beans. Honestly, I couldn't even eat it. The atmosphere is drab, downright depressing, right down to the alcoholics sitting at the bar having martinis at 11:30 in the AM. With all the outstanding restaurants in this town, this is one you'll never have to go to.

  • Pros: Good Hot & Sour Soup, excellent service
  • Cons: Lousy food, odd patrons, bad ambience, no windows, too salty

If you want great chinese food look somewhere else!

by mirthra

For some reason, my review below was marked with an "average" after I saw it was already submitted and posted with a "Not Recommended." I'm simply reposting with the "Not Recommended" and if they had a "Avoid like plutonium laced bear-poop" rating, I would give it that..

A friend and I went to Louie's based on the rating and recomedations found here and I have to say it was, without a doubt, one of the worst meals I've had anywhere, chinese or otherwise.

The potstickers tasted like they'd been sitting in the fridge next to a bowl of rotted cabbage for two days. The chowmein was steamed/boiled to well past an inch of it's life and the General Tsoa's chicken was some breaded chicken chunks in a completely generic (read canned) sauce.

The place had a funky (perhaps interesting enough to take your mind off the horror occuring in your mouth) decor, the waitstaff was very friendly and attentive. Parking wasn't a problem.

If you like bad chinese food however, this is definately the place to go in Seattle!

  • Pros: Funky decor, pleasant waitstaff, easy access
  • Cons: Horrible food.
