i have only lived in seattle a couple of years, so maybee the place was bland and disapointing before, but itsgreat now. i was recomended by a friend and thought the idea of a changing menu and decore sounded unique and fun. and i was not disapointed. the place is lively and full of energy and color. the service was amazing and our waitress was very knowledgeable about beers, and ingredients in the food. i eat there regularly now. and one morning i went out to breakfast at another place closer to where i live. and its easy to forget how incrediable hashbrowns eggs and bacon can be, until i eat some that aren't. further making me appreciate how awsome the food at the 5 spot is! meat and potates hooray! ! !

Pros: atmosephere, service, wall art, tasty tasty

Cons: kid friendly

My brother, father and I went to breakfast at 5 Spot, my brother and I both are in the service, I was in civilian attire and he in his uniform were refused service. As a member of the services, it is very sad when you are ignored and repeatedly told to wait another 20 min at a restaurant that obviously has openings (seating 5 families of equal size who also walked in after you) and repeating "For YOU it will be another 20 min" after almost an hour we left. This restaurant has had decent food in the past but will never have us as customers again.

Pros: decent food

Cons: bad service and high prices

I have been to "5 Spot" twice and enjoyed the cinnamon swirl French toast with caramel sauce on both visits. Although $9.00 seems rather expensive for French toast, it is worth it. You will be served two thick slices of cinnamon swirl bread, with a dollop of butter, and covered in a most delicious caramel sauce. This dish is definitely for those that enjoy something sweet for breakfast.

Pros: Friendly, prompt, and attentive service.

I usually go to the 5 Spot for late night happy hour ($5 dinners, $1 dollar PBR). I just went there today (Sunday breakfast) and it SUCKED. Eggshells in eggs, all 5 plates had wrong egg orders, undercooked potatoes, disgusting pork chop (usually tastes better during happy hour), crappy cook, incompetent wait staff. We informed the waitress of all these problems and she didn't even comp us a single plate. Only go late night after 10pm. Food is cheaper, wait staff is friendlier, not as busy, and $1 PBR.

Pros: After 10PM cheap and good

Cons: Crappy all day until 10PM

These guys do a great job of providing "diner" food without all the grease in a casual atmosphere. A great place to go in the morning for brunch on a rainy day. The place warms me up.

Before going I checked out reviews on citysearch and was warned of the bad service. I should have known I would get much the same. Walking in it was very busy place and that usually means its good or its the only place around (learned later the latter is probably it). However, right after walking in everything went down hill. My partner and I walk in and see there are a few people waiting for seats so we do what anyone would do and look for a host to put us on a list. However, almost 5 minutes pass before anyone even cares to come by. We get to sit down (after a hurried host rushes us to our table as if we are a major distraction to him walking around) and then our waitress comes by very quickly and I get some hope back. We order honey stung chicken and I am very excited as it sounds great. While sitting and eating a medicore cobb salad starter our waitress comes by (at least ten minutes later) and says "opps, your order didn't get and were out of chicken, do you want to order something else?," all with a hollow appolgy. By now I can't belive that our waitress came out and just told us that she was to lazy to get our order in (also, who doesn't have a popular menu item an hour later after it started being served [the honey chicken does not start being made until 5pm and we ordered at 6]) and I was close to leaving but ordered something else. Another 15 min later we get our food. I ordered pork loin with a fig sauce and masted potatoes. I was quickly disappointed at the fatty meat and dry masted pototoes, while my partner liked his fish that was about it. By this time I just wanted to leave and asked for the check. Our waitress gave another quick hollow apology and gave us a bill for almost 50 bucks with no discount for the horrible service. We quickly paid vowing to never return again and came home to eat a sandwhich. All in all I really wanted to like the place but see our experience coupled with all the bad reviews and I don't see any reason to go to this place.

Pros: Nice Decor

Cons: No service, poor planning, HORRIBLE SERVICE

My husband & I live in Sammamish and drive to the 5 spot several times a month for breakfast. We usually go around noon to beat the rush. I've had several dishes and all were good except the biscuits and gravy. Their french toast is super yummy and so are their omelets, pancakes, and their 5 spot breakfast is the best - complete w/ hashbrowns, eggs, toast and bacon - it is a lot of food! Their hashbrowns have spices that make them so much better than anywhere else. Their dinner menu rotates to a new theme every 3 months so it's neat to see what new decorations they put up. I've had some really good food and some "okay" food on it. Their honey stung fried chicken, which is always available for dinner, is one of my favorites. One thing I will say is that their staff can have major attitudes and aren't always friendly. Sometimes they don't take names and just rely on those in line to be honest about who was there first but sometimes people will walk in front of everyone and get seated right away. One time I said something and the host thought that I was the one who was cutting in front of everyone and was rude to me saying that I needed to get to the back and wait like everyone else. When I told him I was there before the last 2 groups he sat then he lost the attitude. This isn't the only time it's happened though, but it isn't enough to make me not go back.

I love this place. Sure there is a bit of a wait on weekends (20-30 minutes), but it's well worth it. The theme changes every month making for a different experience almost every time I go. There is always a great variety of yummy plates that have yet to disappoint. I highly recommend the 5 spot.

I recentally moved to Seattle and when I heard that a comfort food spot was in my hood I was happy. The service was lacking seemed to be fake and after the dish that I ordered already took 45 minutes without aknowledgement our server didn't seem to concerned. As far as the food the pumpkin pasta was great in theory but lacked in execution. I dont want to give up I have a hunch that maybe this is a great breakfast place but hailing from the comfort food capital of the midwest .... I didn't have such a comfortable meal at the 5 spoyt

Pros: they seem to be on to something

Cons: lack of comunication by service staff/ poorly execuited food

I had heard good things, so I went here with my parents last weekend for breakfast. We were very impressed and pleased. My dad ordered a basic breakfast: bacon, and pancakes. They were nothing special. When you go here ask the server for their recommendation or order something a little less ordinary.
