Best Frames in Town, but...
by UA at Citysearch
I wouldn't go anywhere else, despite their higher prices! I would have, if I had more time or wasn't too lazy, at least to price shop.
- Pros: Best Frames, Professional Staff, Friendly Doctor
- Cons: EXPENSIVE!
Awesome Doctor & Professional Service
by 8notime at Citysearch
I was resistant in trying this doctor based on several of the prior reviews regarding bad customer service. However this doctor is listed as a preferred provider under VSP & is convenient to where I live. My first appointment went extremely well. The doctor was professional, the exam was thorough, his staff friendly, and they didn't debate me when I told them I wanted to buy my contacts at Costco. For those that have complained about the cost this doctor charges for contacts, I'm pretty certain that most doctors charge a lot more than online outlets & Costco. That is how they make money. They are small businesses and cannot afford the deep discounts that the large retailers can. It is more important to me that they don't pressure you into buying from them, which they did not. Also the doctor wrote a prescription right there on the spot, so I'm not sure why the previous reviewer said he/she had a hard time getting the prescription sent over to the online store.
- Pros: Personalized service, no pressure to buy glasses/contacts from them, flexible appointment schedule
Great Customer Service!

I had a great experience at City Eye Care. I walked in without an appointment on a Saturday to look at frames and the office was very busy. The staff was very efficient and helpful. I had a lot of questions that they answered happily. Dr. Dubicki and his staff provide a stress free experience. Contacts and some frames can be a little pricy but I never once felt as though they were trying to preassure me into a sale. Very friendly Doctor and staff. All in all this is a great office that I have recommended to family and friends.
- Pros: Very friendly staff.
- Cons: tight parking spaces!
Great doctor, horrible customer service
by imeldajane at Citysearch
I have been seeing Dr. Dubicki for six or seven years now. I used to live in Queen Anne but even kept seeing him after I moved because I really like his professionalism and his personality. His office staff leaves SO much to be desired, though. I used to receive friendly reminder cards about when my eye appointments were due but they started forgetting to send those out. They seriously overcharge for contacts, at least by $10 or more per box, then charge you $5 for shipping. And they REALLY aren't helpful when you order online instead of through them. When I ordered contacts at an online place, they ignored the order and never responded to the online place, so the online place couldn't send me my contacts. A year later I'm trying the same thing and a different online place is having problems getting them to respond. And, this last box I ordered directly from them (since they've pretty much hijacked my ability to order online), they forgot to mail it, even after I paid their huge shipping cost for MAILING it. I am fed up with this severely poor customer service, especially since this is not a down market place. Even though I love the doctor, I plan on finding a new eye doctor for my next visit.
- Pros: The doctor is great to work with
- Cons: The office staff make the rest of the experience frustrating and infuriating
Friendly, efficient service / great neighborhood business

I've been going to Dr. Dubiki for years and have always had a great experience with him and his staff. I've even gone in a couple times for out-of-the-ordinary eye concerns : he took me on a walk-in basis and didn't even charge me. Some of the frames are a little pricey, but I've found that you get what you pay for so it's usually worth it.
Terrible Customer Service
by honestengine at Citysearch
This was my first time in and I needed a prescription for both contacts and glasses. My insurance will cover one or the other and I used it to pay for my contacts. I took the prescription that I was given for glasses to Sam's Club to make new lenses for two pairs of frames that I already owned and loved. It took months and 4 trips back to Sam's Club to finally figure out what was wrong with my glasses. It turns out that my prescription was too strong, making my glasses impossible to wear for more than an hour. Sam's Club felt really bad for me and offered to remake both pairs, yet again, for FREE if my dr. would revise his prescription. I called City Eye Care to ask them to fix the prescription that they gave me or at the very least confirm that it was correct. If it was found to be incorrect, I asked if they would still bill me for the exam. They said that they would bill because their lab didn't make the lenses. They refused to acknowledg that it wasn't the LAB it was the BAD PRESCRIPTION. I now have to pay for a brand new prescription and if Sam's Club hadn't offered to replace both sets of lenses for free, I'd be out over $500 because of a bad presciption. It would have taken City Eye Care 20 minutes to review the prescription they gave me and fix it. The customer service is terrible here. Also-Be prepared to be scrutinized if you come in off the street to try on their frames. They'll be sure to make you feel like just walked into Tiffany's wearing Birkenstocks!
Best Eye Doctor experience
by littlemissdana at Citysearch
I went to four different eye doctors until Dr Dubicki finally correctly diagnosed my crappy eyesight. What a relief, it is nice to be able to trust your eye doctor and Dr. Dubicki earned my trust for sure!
I chose the cutest glasses ever but my kids stretch them out - good thing I can go in whenever to get them put back in place. They clean them and tighten them up so quickly for free, it is great! (I have done this about 7 times, now the kids have a no-touching-my-glasses rule but still, they are little)
The parking spaces are small but in Queen Anne it is nice to rely on there being a spot for my car where I don't have to walk in the rain.
CAREFUL
by jumz1999 at Citysearch
CAREFUL....contacts might be overpriced. I purchased six months of contacts here following an initial evaluation. Shortly thereafter, I visited two friends who are optometrists in Portland. They politely informed me that, in their opinion, I paid WAY too much. Conservatively, they estimated that I had paid nearly twice the average retail price for the specific contacts ordered. I left slightly embarrassed but am certainly a wiser consumer following that painful conversation. In short, do your homework and order your contacts online, as recommended by my friends, for the best deal.
- Pros: Nice facilities/equipment
- Cons: Cost
Mixing high-end glasses and contacts with the latest fashion trends--even for Halloween.

In Short
Husband-and-wife optometrists, Dr. John Dubicki and Dr. Kerri Svanda, wanted a neighborhood place that wasn't your run-of-the-mill eye care chain. And it isn't. Here, you'll find personal attention, an array of fancy frames, and a surprising decorative touch--frames popping out of treasure chests, paired with dolphins, or mixed in with magicians and marionettes. Most are in traditional colors--brown, silver, and gold--but you'll find bright fashion hues as well
Best For Years
by linle at Citysearch
I've been going to City Eye Care for years, and I can't imagine going anywhere else. Dr. Dubicki and his staff has always done everything to ensure my visit was pleasurable. Their selection of frames is the best in the city! I highly recommend them.
- Pros: Great Location
- Cons: Small parking spaces
