friendly and great food. love the atmosphere at this diner. Great food and service. Get their early if you are planning on Sunday brunch!
delish!. I've been here twice and loved everything I've tried. I had their french toast w/orange marmalade and it was the best french toast i've had in seattle! They also have great bloody marys and other rum concoctions. I also had their lobster scramble and have tried their salmon scramble - both great. in fact, my friend gets the salmon scramble every time. one time i had good service, the other time i had slow, not-so-great service. Looking forward to going back again.…
This tour missed Chile.
We dined at this establishment tonight due to the fact
that it was promoting " A tour of Chile"
The pisco sours were good and my wife had a
Ceviche Mixto (note to menu person at C.K., it's ceviche
not cebiche) that she enjoyed.
I ordered the empanada filled with braised pork.
In Chile you typically have an empanada de horno which
is baked and filled with meat/hard boiled egg/olive and maybe onions, or the empanada de queso, which is filled with cheese and deep-fried.
This item was neither. The pastry tasted like it was semi-cooked cornmeal. Not good.
Ambience was ok and service was the same.…
Well-financed restaurant.
I frequently eat lunch here during the week. The BLT and the Coastal Burger deliver large portions of high-quality ingredients. Service during the week is fast and professional. The clientele is
well-healed. ...........................................................................................................
Too many restaurants are under-financed family-run holes-in-the-wall. Coastal Kitchen is the relatively rare example of a professionally-run, well-financed restaurant -- large seating capacity (essential to profitability) & managed for the long term. .......................................................................................................
Personally, I avoid the long lines, poor service and chaos of weekend brunches. Also, I avoid the "featured region" menu, because the quantity & recipe are huge unknowns.…
Worst Coq Au Vin- no response to emails.. Awful coq au vin- I felt ripped off. I thought the service was good. I didn't bother my server with details, just emailed them. No response. I guess they don't care.
Reliably good seafood.
I'm picky and I like this one far better than any of the other chow foods restaurants. When I go there, I go for one thing: Seafood. I often stick to the regulars such as "Simply Grilled Fish" (you
have daily choices).
It's pricey, but it's seafood and it's good. Portions are appropriately sized. Never too much. Sometimes leaves you wanting more, but of course that's why they sell desert and more wine.
Seasonings are used appropriately allowing for the subtelties of the meat to come out. Every now and then they have an awesome seasonal offering that makes my year, but usually it's just the grilled fish that I want.
That said: I would avoid Ivars, Anthony's, and The really expensive one in west seattle (forget the name).
This place is better.…
Not worth the time or money. Went here for brunch on Sunday with two friends before going to the theater. None of us had been here before and went based on the reviews on CitySearch. Big disappointment. Went early as advised, but still had to wait (not too long, only 30 min). The service was fine, but the food was less than impressive for the prices. About the only thing I would recommend was the coffeecake. Two of us had Bloody Marys and they were terrable. The three of us had different types of scrambles (smoked Salmon, Skagit Valley with ham and the daily special with cherizo. Very small portions and nothing special. We all agreed we should have gone to the Portage Bay Cafe instead.…
Are they under new management?. I should have walked away as soon as we noticed the mass of flies in the kitchen area. But no I still gave it a shot. After being served in food crusted dishes and having floaters in the ice water, we proceeded to have the worst meal. The pasta was over cooked and the salad was wilted. And on top of that the bill only added insult to injury.…
Too Inconsistent. I live in the neighborhood, but I am usually hesitant to go to the Coastal Kitchen because I find the food so inconsistent. Sometimes they are on the mark and the entree is well-prepared and full of interesting flavors. Other times the food is bland or overcooked. And the wait on weekends for breakfast is not worth it.…
Best Breakfast!. I came here on a trip to Seattle. It had a very good breakfast menu with interesting dishes and great seafood. I ordered crab cakes and eggs, which had real crab in it. I would definitely come back here if I ever visit Seattle again!…
