I should have walked away as soon as we noticed the mass of flies in the kitchen area. But no I still gave it a shot. After being served in food crusted dishes and having floaters in the ice water, we proceeded to have the worst meal. The pasta was over cooked and the salad was wilted. And on top of that the bill only added insult to injury.
Pros: Outside seating, great location
Cons: Dirty Service Wear, Over Priced, Poor Service, flavorless over cooked food

I live in the neighborhood, but I am usually hesitant to go to the Coastal Kitchen because I find the food so inconsistent. Sometimes they are on the mark and the entreé is well-prepared and full of interesting flavors. Other times the food is bland or overcooked. And the wait on weekends for breakfast is not worth it.
Pros: It's in the neighborhood.
Cons: It is inconsistent.

I came here on a trip to Seattle. It had a very good breakfast menu with interesting dishes and great seafood. I ordered crab cakes and eggs, which had real crab in it. I would definitely come back here if I ever visit Seattle again!
Pros: Food
Cons: Parking

I went to Coastal Kitchen with some girlfriends for lunch and thought that their menu was pretty cool. They have special items on their menu that they choose by country to showcase that cuisine and I really liked that idea. When I was there, they did Jamaica, and the restaurant was decorated accordingly. The ambiance was great, we didn't wait long although it was pretty busy, and our server was nice. I wasn't very impressed with the food. I had fish & chips and it was pretty dry or perhaps just quite overcooked. The real problem was that when we tried to pay our bill, it took 20 minutes from the time they took the card until they came back to us. Apparently their machine was having a problem, but we had no way of knowing that- they just disappeared leaving us wondering what was going on. When they finally returned, we voiced our concerns and didn't even really get an apology from the server, who explained the machine's malfunction to us. I thought it was very poor customer service to make us wait so long with no explanation until the end, no apology, and not even a small compensation like taking off the price of our drinks or something along those lines. I don't think I'll be back.
Pros: ambiance, fun menu
Cons: service, problem resolution

Three of us had the pleasure of a Sunday Brunch on the last week of Siciliy. We had the Lobster Scramble special, Mango pancakes, Gingerbread Waffles, and more. Everything was fantastic. Service was great. Seating took about 15 mins. Grab a quick coffee next door while you wait. We will definately be going back.
Pros: Food and Service
Cons: Waiting. No reservation

The service was nothing like their other establishments, it was rude, condescending and short. But still, we understand that some nights are better than others and it could have been a bad night for our server. The food is the main issue here. We ordered the ceviche and the split the two-person meal that included Pork, Marlin, Corn, Jasmine rice, Black beans and a tuna salad. The Ceviche was fantastic, well portioned and all around good. The main issue we had was with the two-person meal we ate. The serving was so small, I thought we accidentally got a 1 person serving. Our marlin steak was roughly one bite each. The tuna salad was so incredibly over-cooked, it was inedible. The pork was good, but again, such a small portion that we barely got any. The meal focused around the beans and rice, which were obliviously there for filler. We left the Coastal Kitchen, very hungry and 80.00 poorer. Our next stop was to go get something to eat.
Pros: Great ambience and has outdoor seating
Cons: Very small portions, rude serivce and so / so food for a lot of money

this is the second time that I have gone to coastal kitchen, and left disappointed by the food quality. i get sucked in by the hype and ambience, but always leave feeling like something is missing. maybe the owners need to spend less time hyping all of their restaurants and more time on delivering a quality product. i ordered the chipolte shrimp salad, which sounded great on the menu. what came to me was five small over-glazed shrimp, mixed greens doused in a very sour dressing, a scoop of canned corn, and two tostada shells stuck in for good measure. i ordered salsa for the shells and even that was tasteless. i snuck a few french fries off a friend’s plate, which were good, as was the service. but still I left there fuming about paying $14+ for such an unfulfilling lunch.
Pros: service and funky ambience
Cons: food and hype

Consistently great food, good local art, informed but not obnoxious service and unimprovable Bloody Maries...totally worth the wait!

Everything I've had here has been very tasty. The only drawback is sometimes you have to wait quite awhile because it is very popular. :)

I have been here many times, and have never been disappointed. My parents, who live out of town, absolutely love this place when they come to visit. I highly recommend it for breakfast or brunch. The selections are always unique and served in generous portions. There is something for everyone, regardless of taste - from the traditional to the exotic. All around helpful and attentive wait staff. The only downside is the long wait if you come for a breakfast/brunch on a weekend morning.
Pros: friendly staff, terrific food
Cons: long waits
