No Reason to Eat Here - Ever
by clickplaysmile
Fifteen years ago, Chutneys may have been a decent place to find Indian food in Seattle. That was a long time ago. With all your other options (especially Jewel of India and Cedars - while it lasts), I cannot even recommend this restaurant to neighbors looking for a quick bite. They are very pricey, the food has no flavor (quite a feat for Indian cuisine), and the last time we ate here, we spent the night queasy. Do yourself a favor, if you must eat on 15th, and go to the TeaPot instead.
- Pros: Local Restaurant
- Cons: You'll regret eating here
Delicious Chicken Tikka Masala
by berniecase
I make it to Chutneys about once a week to meet a friend who lives nearby. Chutneys was the first place I ever tried Indian food and after two trips to South India (Bangalore), I can tell you that their tandoori chicken and chicken tikka masala are superb. One thing to note, though, is that if you want it really spicy, you might need to tell them you want it south Indian spicy. Once they got it right and I had to make a trip to the bathroom to clear my sinuses. That was a good meal. My favorites are the tandoori chicken, chicken tikka masala, vegetable samosas, and the chicken kasturi. Also, the garlic naan is delicious, too. Service at Chutney's has never been bad for me, and the waitstaff has always been attentive and informative.
- Pros: Chicken Tikka Masala, Tandoori chicken
- Cons: A little pricey
A GREAT selection of Wine
by lusie
What wonderful food and great ambiance! The food was to die for and quickly brought to our table. The sever was friendly and on top of everything we wanted. They have a new special on certain nights of the week offering tremendous deals and a half off wine list! They offer outdoor dining which is beautiful and are located in the perfect part of town!
- Pros: Outdoor dining, wine selection, service
Mainstream Indian cuisine offers an appealingly upscale atmosphere.

In Short
Chutney's made its name with standards mixed with "Americanized" variations on Indian flavors. Dishes range from traditional vegetable pakoras (deep fried vegetable dumplings) to chicken tandoori, marinated in yogurt and baked in a round clay oven. The signature tikka masala, with chunks of lamb bathed a blend of butter, cream and curry, is as rich as it sounds.
late night dining and delivery
by fashionista12
Just went there a couple of nights ago for the late night dining. Since it was their first night offering this service it wasn't crowded. The food and wine was half price, service was great and the food was fabulous. I hear they have also started delivery service. I have always liked Chutneys in spite of the fact that their menu is on the more expensive side. With the new half price menu from 9 pm to midnight, I think I will be going there more often.
- Pros: Quality of food, service
- Cons: little expensive
Great place to dine
by mirafone
Food is fabulous! Good selection, and each Chutneys location has a slightly different menu but the tikka masala rules in all. They burn the naan a little bit in multiple visits we've had, but overall the food is top notch, the waiters are friendly and don't be surprised if many clients are repeat customers. Parking is not too tough, and the ambiance is nice. The prices aren't cheap, but the qualtiy is worth it.
- Pros: Tasty food, Good date place, Good staff
- Cons: Burnt naan, $$+
Stay away from chutneys
by metalwiz
Being an Indian, its sad to know that Indian food tastes like this. I have had food in a lot restaurants from california to boston. When compared, chutneys is really the arm pit of Indian restaurants in America. I was surprised to the see the reviews. I was so disappointed with the food(dont even get me started with the service). The food doesnt taste like anything thats made in India. Vegetable Biryani is just hot with a lot of nuts in it(I guess thats how bears like it) and chicken is not even cooked properly. There are some good places in Redmond/Bellevue if you really want some Indian food. Stay away from Chutneys.
- Pros: None, None, None
- Cons: Service, Food, Ambience
Great Indian food, decent service.

Being an Indian, you're always disappointed in the Inidan food you get here in the states. Chutney's however is pretty much the best you can get here. The prices are quiet expensive, but then again what is not expensive in Seattle (the most expensive city in US).
- Pros: Good food, good ambience
- Cons: expensive, average service

Very average overpriced Americanized Indian food. Not romantic, either -- the restaurant is located next to a gas station, and looks like a renovated fast food joint, with glass walls and cheap furniture.
So good, I cross the bridge for it

There are a few Indian places nearby, but I regularly go to Chutney's instead. The pakoras are the best I have tasted and the potato and pea naan is absolutely delicious. The mango margaritas are great, but they could stand a little more alcohol in them. I have never been disappointed by Chutney's.
