Not what I paid for

by wookiemessiah

Just as pricey as the other places but I actually nodded off waiting for my food. Yam fry's are good but the beer is at least a dollar more for a pint than everywhere else. I might be back... if I got a book to read.

OH ME OH MY OH!!!

by crepesuzette

Best burger in town...HANDS DOWN!! I've been going to the maple leaf for 5 years now and I've never eaten a bad meal. The waitstaff is great too...friendly and authentic. If you listen carefully you will often hear bob dylan serenading you while you eat. It doesn't get much better for a small neighborhood grill. I can't recommend it enough.

Great food and great customer service

by enidity

This is a really friendly, neighborhood place. The staff is most helpful for both food service and making their customers feel welcome and cared for. The food is great, the fries fabulous!

Great fries!

by lifeofriley12

I have only been to the Maple Leaf Grill at lunch, but have always had a great experience. There are not many great restaurants in the Northgate area and we are all sick of mall food! So, this is a refreshing change. The service is good, though sometimes a bit slow. The menu is small, but the burgers are great! The hand cut fries are fabulous!

Best Burger in Town

by Todderz

Hands down, best burger in town, and I'm a burger fiend. Not to mention they come with a mountain of tasty fries (my wife loves the yam fries)! While they are a bit pricey, they are worth every penny. Nice selection of local beers on tap and friendly staff. I swear every waiter in the place came over to ask if we were okay or needed anything. If you are craving a good burger, fries and a cold beer, this is the place to come.

  • Pros: live music, outdoor seating, friendly attentive staff
  • Cons: Street parking, a bit pricey

Good cheeseburger

by mapleleafgirl

If you're looking for a good cheeseburger this is the place to go! The whole cheeseburger is tasty, from the toasted roll to the thickly sliced pickles. The fries are hand cut, I like crispy fries and these aren't crispy - but if you like a more rustic soft fry they are fine.

  • Pros: Great location, locally owned
  • Cons: Soft fries

Ruined my evening!

by meatlessinseattle

So dark in there, you wonder what they're hiding. The waitstaff has the personality of moss growing on a tree and moss would taste better than the meal I was served. If you're going to work with the public, you've got to at least act like you enjoy it. I love hummus, their's was very dry, never had that experience in any other restaurant. My sandwich was fried in bad grease, I had 3 bites before I could figure out what was wrong with it but by then it was too late. I was nauseous the rest of the evening, nothing serious but certainly uncomfortable. It was a big dissappointment all around.

Pricey bland food tossed with mediocre service that disappoints. Avoid after 9pm as the staff may be in a rush to leave.

by kennedyp5

I've been visiting the Maple Leaf Bar and Grill since the late 90's. At that time the restaurant was located further down the street that eventually closed due to a fire.

If you are expecting great service, the Maple Leaf Bar and Grill will disapoint. You must ask for everything. Menu, water, fork, drinks, napkin, even the bill. I'll say it again - you must ask for EVERYTHING. The wait staff love to talk to each other, about their plans for the evening and the weather but they hate talking to customers unless you are a celebrated regular. The owner will come out to sit at the bar to watch t.v., changing the channel without asking any of the customers while he ignores you.

I ordered one of the specials, beef stroganoff which was quite bland. The menu still sparks with some of classic dishes from before the restaurant was relocated down the street into a converted house, but it has lost quality of service and consistenacy that made it one of the best local establishments in the 90's. I still have high hopes for the Maple Leaf as the restaurant selection in the area is surprisingly limited. However, I only check back two or three times a year as I am usually dispointed in the service and food quality.

  • Pros: Excellent location. Daily specials.
  • Cons: Service and menu consistancy

Excellent neighborhood find

by refaholic

Always passed by this place on the way to Snappy Dragon and am very glad I had lunch with my family there today. All our dishes were excellent (my flank steak sandwich was particularly good) and I'd definitely go back. All and all a very good looking restaurant.
