Bad Food, Overpriced, Lousy Service

by QEII

Last time we visited this joint, smoking was still legal in bars/restaurants.

We were enticed by the sign proclaiming the "Best Bacon Cheeseburger in town" since we walk by it every trip to the grocery store.

What we got was the worst restaurant experience I've had in awhile. Ordered the Classic Cheeseburger and received a charred hockey puck too small for the size of the bun and with a distinctly off taste. Tried a couple of bites, but it just tasted rotten...think it was overcooked to try and hide the off taste. Service was fairly inattentive and not terribly friendly. Even though it's within walking distance, we won't be back again. Will spend my bucks at other neighborhood joints like Fiddlers Inn or Maple Leaf Grill for better food. Crikey, even the Wedgwood Broiler has a better burger.

great atmosphere

by melrainy

Just found this place about a month ago and have been there at least once a week since. The food is great, I'm a big fan of the turkey sandwich and the philly cheese steak. The only thing I've found that I don't like is the French Onion Soup; only order if you like a LOT of seasoning. Otherwise it has a great casual atmosphere with really nice employees who are always willing to give you a solid recommendation on one of their many great beers on tap. The pool room in back is great too, never very busy so it's a nice chill place to shoot some pool.

Cold food and HORRIBLE service

by hbeans

Three of us went here for lunch one day and we were the only people in the place. You would think that you would get exceptional service, considering that there were two staff to just us, but not the case. Our food took FOREVER to get and it was cold! My husband got a fish sandwich and it was a frozen breaded patty...yuck! The burger had a gross seasoning. There was HORRIBLE music blasting...really depressing soundtrack from the monty python (great movie, but the soundtrack is not the best for relaxing with a beer and burger!). We asked the waiter about it and he said that we just had to wait until the next CD came on...tells us later he has it on ipod and could have easily changed it, but chose not to. When the waiter finally brought us the bill and asked how food was, I told him it was all cold and he laughed and walked away!! WHAT!? Absolutely one of the worst restaurant experiences I've had. Only thing good about the place is the beer, which we only got one of because he never came back to the table.

  • Pros: beer
  • Cons: everything else

Best place to get a beer or have an awesome bowl of soup!

by heygirlie

Wedgwood Ale House has great service, amazing food with generous portions and always has new beers to try. They also make a great margarita on the rocks and have a small, but pretty decent wine list.

If you have Kids and want a great place to go they have a family dining area in the back. My kids love the food and it is definitely better than Red Robin! The family dining room is only open at night for dinner...

They also have a fabulous, new pool hall that is great to reserve for the night and enjoy with a few friends.

I highly recommend the ale house!

  • Pros: seperate family dining at night. great staff. better than cheers!
  • Cons: nachos and salsa don't compare to the rest of the food.

great wings!

by sealib

This place has the best chicken wings I've had on the west coast, and I'm a Buffalo native, so I know my wings! Great beer selection too and very friendly bar staff.

  • Pros: wings, beers, staff

great service, great beer menu, tasty burgers!

by martonosi

We discovered this place in our neighborhood recently and only wish we'd found it sooner. The staff was really helpful in telling us about the food and drink, and even brought over free tastes of a couple beers after we'd asked about them. The menu is not huge, but they do a range of sandwiches and typical bar fare. We'll definitely be back.

friendly, good beer!

by tsw51

the staff here has always been friendly and very knowedgable, which is pretty impressive considering the 20 or so beers on tap. has a very casual, 'neighborhood bar' kind of feel. the food is quite good too - a big step above typical bar food. be sure to try the turkey sandwich...they roast the turkey right there so it is wonderfully fresh.

  • Pros: good beer, good food, nice people
  • Cons: smoky
