The Best Italian food in Seattle,Washington State, and maybe all of the u.s
by ihatejohnnyrockets
Salvatore's has great food, drinks and desserts. They always have great entrees and salads on their menu, great drinks and desserts.I was served a great caesar salad and the special which was ravioli with gorgonzola cheese and roasted walnuts in a gorgonzola cream sauce. For dessert I had this wonderful ice cream sundae with whipped cream and italian cherries and italian cherry sauce. My friends who went with me liked the caesar salad also and a bunch of the pasta entrees and they liked the coconut sorbet and the proffiteroli for dessert. The atmosphere was warm and cozy, and the waiter and his service were very nice as well.
i highly reccomend this place if you are looking for great italian food and a place to hang out
- Pros: food, atmosphere,service,parking,prices
Buono
by bounappetito
Pronto, having lived in Italy for a few years, eating in this restaurant was like returning to Italia. My wife and I appreciate how true to Sud Italia this experience is. If you like the Olive Garden, stay away and keep our waits for a tavola shorter. If you're in a rush, go to Papa Murphy's, please. If you are willing to learn about good food and wine, we'll see you there. Grazie! Ciao, ciao, ciao, ciao.
- Pros: Intimate tables
- Cons: occasional long wait (but for a reason)
Very disappointed
by quena
I'm not one who usually submits a review, however I was so disappointed by my experience I felt compelled to write. I went last night to celebrate my birthday and the service was incredibly slow. We waited an hour between receiving the salad and main entree. Every other table within earshot also complained of the long wait for their food. The food, itself, was not impressive and the presentation, plain. Three in my party ordered from the long list of specials ($17-$19). The meat was over-cooked and tough, the pasta which accompanied it was okay but plain. The ravioli stuffed with portabello mushroom didn't have much taste. The linguine in bianco (linguine with seafood) was pretty good. Sauce was light and flavorful, but the shrimp were baby shrimp--not regular shrimp!
One highlight was the complimentary dessert in acknowledgment of my brithday.
In all, overpriced for the food and service that one receives.
Best Italian in Seattle!
by roosevelt98115
I have lived in the Roosevelt area for about 10 years and am lucky enough to have Salvatore within walking distance of my house. The food here is absolutely amazing from appetizer to dessert! My favorite is the penne puttenesca, but I have never had anything here that wasn't spectacular!
I take out-of-town guests here all the time and Salvatore always ends up being rated as one of the best Italian meals they have ever had. I recently took a business associate to dinner here and he paid a very high compliment to Salvatore saying, "If I was on death row, I would ask for this as my last meal."
Beyond the food, the owner, Salvatore, and the staff are very friendly and fun. I always feel like I am having dinner with family when I am there.
I highly recommend Salvatore for a truly amazing meal and overall experience.
- Pros: Excellent food, friendly service, quaint atmosphere
- Cons: None to speak of
Neighborhood Italian restaurant with affordable fare and a romantic atmosphere.

In Short
Salvatore Anania's romantic old-country restaurant offers southern Italian food and wine. Some house favorites are the pastas; sauces are rounded and well-developed--the puttanesca lives up to its spicy, full-figured reputation. Salvatore is particularly known for its fiery shrimp gamberi.
Ciao Bella!
by bbdoll_stl
Ciao Bella! is what I hear when I walk in the door at Salvatore's. I feel like royalty when there. I bring my friends when visiting from out of town. All of the waiter's have wonderful knowledge of the food, and you can visualize it when they describe in detail. The only problem I have is deciding which item to order. Try one of the wild boar dishes, they're delicious! Top notch and wonderful intimate atmosphere.
- Pros: food, atmosphere, personal attention from owner
- Cons: no reservations so get there early
Yummy food, nice service.
by luckyram
The service was great, the food was yummy! They make the best puttanesca I've ever had, they were able to make it without anchovies since we are vegetarian. The lentil soup was awesome. We will go back for sure.
Salvatore - What Happened ?
by bing1
This was such an outstanding restaurant from when it opened in the late 80's. Our recent visit was sadly disappointing. We hope this can be turned around. We have always loved this restaurant and Salvatore.
- Pros: Waiter was great
- Cons: Mediocre food, Atmosphere lacking
Still haven't adressed poor food quality
by bigjim993
It has been three years since I have last set foot inside of Salvatore. Some friends of mine still love this place and invited us out to join them for dinner. We should have stayed home. A place as good as Salvatore used to be should pay attention to their shrinking customer base. Pushy, arrogant service as well as poorly prepared food result in bad customer experience. I won't come back. I was really trying to love this place again. I hope Salvatore can re-establish what he once had in the early 90's.
Which was a great restaurant that was always consistent. Good luck
- Pros: good wine list, involtini di pollo, Salvatore himself
- Cons: showing it's age, broken tiles in entry, broken windows
