Don't bother
by cecewestseattle
Average indian food, prices just went up because of the remodel in the bar which still isn't that nice, bar and restaurant are very noisy, we were in the restaurant and couldn't help but peak inside the bar to see who was being so loud yelling through the walls. the service was the worst part of it especially if you choose to eat in the lounge, it took forever. If you're not specifically looking for indian food, but rather just something nice at the junction don't bother with this place, go to Jak's next door or Matador two doors down for a better, cleaner atmosphere and dining.
- Pros: decent drink for the price
- Cons: poor service, uncleanliness, noisy
By far the best Indian food around
by mikenscacpt
I eat out at least twice a day at a variety of places, and I have experienced Indian food at a lot of places. Maharaja is by far the best Indian food I've had and the service was awesome. I always leave there very satisfied and would recommend this place to anyone.
- Pros: Great service, awesome food, nice ambiance, and great value
- Cons: I always eat too much
Thebest indian that i've had

What stood out besides the food, was the service. Attentive, polite & welcoming. Thefood was great, the portions were huge. I left stuffed & had a great experience. Would recommend to everyone.
No idea why this place is in business.

I ordered Dal Mahakani and it was surprisingly greasy. I've had this dish at other restaurants and Maharaja's was by far the greasiest. Not sure if it had been sitting for a while, but it tasted like it. I was surprised that rice wasn't served along with it, and rice wasn't offered at any time. My partner said his Lamb Biriyani was "flat". My partner tried to get the waitstaff's attention two different times during our visit and the waiters were too busy. The restaurant was busy but not full.
All in all we were disappointed with the quality of food, price, and service. We won't be returning. If you want good food and service for the same price, go to Taste of India in the U District.
- Pros: Junction location, near everything
- Cons: Mediocre food, inattentive staff
Lamb Korma to Die For!
by 3rdTimesaCharm
All the sauces are superb, but if you are a korma fan, this place is SNAP! Excellent flavor combined with just the right amount of texture make their korma the best I have ever eaten. Also, all their naans are wonderful, clearly baked on the spot in their tandoori oven (which is less than three years old and was specially built for them in India--I asked).
This place has a very sketchy bar and crazy antiquated bathrooms, step-downs, and a strange/fabulous mix of patrons from families with babies and the local ne'er-do-well to the obviously well-to-do young couples and older patrons--making it a GREAT place for people-watching.
This eatery is short on atmosphere and long on the things that matter: huge portions, wonderful food, kind and fast servers and an enormous menu.
- Pros: value, taste, portion size, hours,
- Cons: short on atmosphere
Maharaja : Awesome Completely Remodeled Bar / Lounge, Great Buffet Food, 11 - 2:30 Daily $7.95
by faketreesrule
The staff is very friendly and polite. Fast service and they always check how everything is. The food is great. Resonable prices. I love the newly remodeled sports bar / lounge area. It was completely remodeled in late November 2008. 6 brand new 42" - 50" Vizio LCD tvs on every wall. There are comfortable booths and chairs / tables. Awesome for the sports fans to just come and relax, watch some sports. Its very clean in every part of the restaurant. Parking can be tricky. There is a free parking lot just behind the store but its sometimes full.
DIRTY LOUNGE
by Jessica04
I've been in this joint a few times and the food is great but be warned..... the lounge is NASTY! The seats are torn upholstered with huge holes and foam coming out. most of West Seattle's homely women tend to flock to this place and will not hesitate to jump up on a table and dance!
- Pros: Great food
- Cons: Horrible lounge
West Seattle's Best Indian
by CascadianOne
I'd love to say this place is inexpensive, but my friends and I always order way too much food and end up with a hefty bill. Don't worry, it's worth it, and there are always leftovers for the next day. Check this out:
We always start out with Vegetable Pakoras (the fried offspring of greens and potatoes) and some Papadum crackers (think tortilla chip, but thinner); inhaling them along with the accompanying sauces and pickled carrots.
Drinks are either the sweet Mango Lassi (a mango fruitshake) or the sinfully pungent Chai Tea.
After that I move on to Lamb Korma (tender meat in a flavorful, creamy sauce) ordered extra-spicy. My compatriots jump on the Butter Chicken (don't let the electric-red color fool ya, it's not too hot), Chicken Tikka Masala (better than General Tso's chicken ever could be) or even some succulent Goat Karahi (BBQed goat reimagined via the Kama Sutra). You really can't go wrong with this menu and the dishes are designed to be shared around the table.
Lots of toasty Garlic Naan (friggen garlic bread- really) and fluffy Basmati Rice arrive as side dishes, as well as some cucumber Raita sauce (like Yoplait with veggies) to cool things off.
Strange burrito-like creations are made by folding rice, meat, Raita and various sauces in the Naan. It's a feeding frenzy, but we know we won't finish all this food in one sitting. We finish off with some sweet, delicate Gulab Jamun (something like donut holes sitting in a sweet syrup) for dessert. Perfect!
Now it's your turn...
- Pros: FLAVORFUL, EASY PARKING BEHIND THE BUILDING
- Cons: NOT OPEN 24 HOURS! :D

THE BEST INDIAN FOOD!!! TRY THE LUNCH BUFFET!!
by amandadouglas_martin
This is the best Indian food that I have ever had! My husband and I love to go on the weekends for the $7 and something lunch buffet. The food is so rich and flavorful. If you can't make it out for the lunch buffet, they have an excellent "dinner for 2" option on the menu which comes with 2 appetizers, 2 entrees plus rice and non, and 2 desserts for only $25!!!! They seem pretty family-friendly there too..I see families with kids come in all the time. Next time you're in West Seattle, you should check it out!
- Pros: GREAT FOOD!! Buffet is delicious and affordable, great value.
- Cons: parking (as always), ambiance is not all that great.
