If you do not like Next To Nature for a variety of reasons, as stated by others, Mud Bay is a fantastic place to shop. The employees do field research on some products in their store. They sell high end great quality food. The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. They have many stores if you go to www.mudbay.us to locate them. Most of their stores are very large w/a huge variety of food and products for our furkids. I highly recommend them. I do all of my shopping there.

Pros: none - Shop at Mud Bay (www.mudbay.us)

Cons: staff not friendly - much less of selection than Mud Bay

I went in tonight, to grab some treats, and was wanting to buy a new dog collar. Adam, Next to Natures employee, walked over to my fiance and I and said " we'll be closing up in a minute and I'd like for you to leave as quickly as possible". Wow! He walked right by us when we came in and didn't even greet us. I am in the Pet Industry and have been a good customer for YEARS,. I told Adam, that I'll get my collar elsewhere since I have lots of options. I chose to go there, but that was a mistake.

Pros: high end food, good selection of products

Cons: not appreciative of customers, unfriendly staff

Next To Nature is an appealing place to visit, with quite possibly the best selection of natural dog (and cat) food I've ever seen. They also have a terrific selection of toys, collars, (overpriced) dog beds, and treats. The problem, and it's a big one) is the staff. While I have a tremendous amount of respect for their devotion to adoption they are so rude and unfriendly that I can't imagine I'll shop there again. They act like they are the only natural pet food store in West Seattle (they aren't) and like it's a privilege for customers to shop there. Perhaps I've just caught them on bad days but this has been a recurring theme in my visits. For those who haven't shopped there before, try this experiment: note how many visits you make to this place before the staff so much as offers you a smile. My prediction is that it'll take 5 visits. Again, the store itself really is wonderful, and if the staff could manage to ramp up the friendliness quotient it would be a place I'd gladly visit again regularly. Until then, I have other options in West Seattle, and the bottom line is that I prefer to do business with people who at least act like they appreciate it.

I've shopped at Next to Nature for years and love the product selection and the uber helpful staff. I truly appreciate their support of Friends of the Animals. I adopted a kitten in 2000 to join my adult cat at home and adopted another kitten in 2004 from FAF. Judith Davis (FAF) was a phenomenal help and I whole-heartedly support their mission. Please continue to support NTN and FAF.

Next to Nature is simply one of the best pet products stores in the Northwest. The staff is very helpful and fully versed in the various "food issues" that our pets have over the years. The fact that Next to Nature is a locally owned business adds tremendously value and customer loyalty. Their ongoing support of the Friends of the Animals Foundation is legendary not only in West Seattle, but also in the Edmonds and Tacoma stores. Next to Nature has provided food, medical care, a safe haven and many other less tangible benefits to the all volunteer staff of Friends of the Animals Foundation and their feline friends. Next to Nature is a business that truly gives to each community that they are a part of in many ways.

Everyone in the store is knowledgeable and helpful. All the products are healthy and safe and its a local business that my dog can support too! I dont shop anywhere else for my best friend.

Next to Nature employees are knowledgeable about companion animals and the care that they need. They carry only the best qualitity foods around and have done their research on the products they carry. In addition, Next to Nature provides care, shelter, food, love, toys, and company for the cats and kittens of Friends of the Animals Foundation awaiting adoption in their spaces.

Friendly knowledgeable staff always willing to help. Fair prices. NTN also works with Friends of Animals cat rescue but is not responsible for their policies, so I'm baffled by the negative review by the person who could only adopt one kitten. We used to foster for MEOW Cat Rescue and they insisted on adopting kittens in pairs if there wasn't another cat in the household because the kittens were often returned with biting problems.

Pros: available parking, great selection, support animal rescue

Would only let us adopt a kitten if we took two! How selfish. I was so dissapointed with their policy, I won't shop there anymore. I thought it was about the animals! Luckily the Humane Society knows that one cat being rescued is better than zero!
