Be weary of any Allstar location; they gave customers a one month notification (stated that this is all that they legally need to give) and closed their facility in August, 2008. Customers that paid initiation fees and monthly memberships were offered no proration in return. If you signed up in June, you'd be stuck with paying a whoping $571 for a two month membership. And being told tough luck by Allstar. Bad business practice to me, even if it is legal. Maybe you should ask them when their lease is up before you sign up for membership with them.

Pros: None, facitily wasn't even nice

Cons: Overpriced memberships, bad business practice

These gyms look the glitz and glam with low quality sub par equipment. Weight rooms are very limited as far as no hammer strength equipment and dumbbells max at 100lbs. Over priced for what you actually get from the gym. Company and management are very sleezy do not care about the customer but merely trying to stay open for another year. The only club that gets members is west seattle because they can afford 50bucks a month per person and its the only gym on the island! This place is a joke and i would not recommend it. They shut down monroe facility without telling any employees and took members paid in full memberships and personal training thousands of dollars not reimbersed.

Pros: nice facility

Cons: crappy management, expensive, lack of equipment

The facilites have a basement feel, but are otherwise OK. Management was pretty rude and believes in hard selling tactics. ("If you don't come in by tomorrow, the prices will change. After tomorrow, if I honor the same prices the money will come out of my pocket.") I understand they have a new General Manager, so I am hoping that the attitude will change.

Pros: Location

Cons: Selling style, basement feel

I just joined the All Star Fitness in queen anne. The gym has more amenities than any other gym in the area. They have towel service, a pool, jacuzzi, steam room, sauna, free classes and all of the cardio equipment has personal televisions with cable to get you through your workout. The price was awesome and the manager was very pleasant and easy to work with. I signed up for 1/2 off of the enrollment and 1/2 off the monthly dues. Not bad for $24.50 a month and there was no comittment at all. I am a very satisfied customer!

Pros: Great Price Very Nice Club fRIENDLY sTAFF

Cons: Bigger pool would be nice. Its the only club in QA with a pool though

All Star Fitness rips their customers off! They will take your money and close the business down without any notice and no refunds. Their story is that to fulfill their end of the contract, they only have to provide an alternative to their facility in case they decide to close down. Basically, when I asked for my money back (I paid for a year in advance) they said I must become a member of Thrive and my membership would transfer over. Problem is, Thrive is very small and crowded with little parking. Thrive only charges $22 a month and I paid All Star in advance over $50 a month! BIG DIFFERENCE! they do not return phone calls or emails when asked about the refunds. They were on the news because they have screwed over more than 1000 customers! It's all true and thank goodness consumers can have freedom of speech since they have our money and won't give it back. Do not join any of their clubs, rumor is they are all going bankrupt, not surprising since this is how they run their business.

Pros: Nothing, they closed my facility down.

Cons: Everything, they took over a thousand members pre-paid memberships and ran off!

I joined All Star fitness (Dental Building location) a year ago. At that time they were about to undergo serious rennovations, and I was impressed enough with the plans and nice mock-ups that I pre-paid for 15 months. The project, I was told, would be finished by June. Forward to August, when things were not finished. In fact, they were pretty bad - classes in conference rooms, a temporary men's lockerroom that held about five people at a time, etc. I was told the only way to put my membership on hold was if I was temporarily moving. Flash forward to February 2007, and I just received my renewal notice in the mail. The gym is still not finished, so I called ot ask if I could extend my membership. I was treated incredibly poorly by both the gym manager and the VP of the company. Long story short, don't join this gym.

Pros: promise of a very nice gym

Cons: unresponsive, dishonest management

If you bring your iPod and come ready to workout - you'll be fine. I enjoyed the hot tub the best, which is why I kept my membership. The downstairs weight room can get overcrowded, but overall - a good place to go.

Pros: large cardio room, pool/hot tub/sauna/steamroom are great

Cons: downstairs weight room can get claustrophobic

Overall, All-Star is a great place to work out. The biggest deficiency in their Queen Anne club is the air quality. Poor ventilation and frequently out of service air conditioning units create a stuffy, humid and sometimes stifling atmosphere in the cardio and locker room areas. Ductwork condensation creates puddles and soaks the carpets throughout. If they could fix these things, this gym would be first class.

Pros: Classes, Equipment, Location

Cons: Ventilation, Dampness, Small Pool

I belong to the allstar in west seattle. It is the best fitness club I have ever been a part of. The staff is helpfull, the facilities are clean, the classes are great, and the price is right. Also, I don't feel like I am at a meat market when working out. There is even a separate workout room for women who don't want to hang with the boys. I feel safe to ask questions, and I know that I will get a good answer found. THANKS ALL STAR!!!

Pros: Value, Clean, Great Crew

The good - New place, with a great pool and climbing rock. Some of the front desk people are nice. The bad - Well, hmm....see the ugly part. The ugly - Will run out of hot water in the morning, usually only 1 or the 2 tanning beds is working, takes a long time to get equipment repaired. Some of the front desk people are not so nice. By far, the parking is the ugliest when they have 3 classes running at once.
