the best happy hour and waitstaff. excellent tomato, arugula, pine nut, herb chevre bruschetta. simple, hearty basics with a nice, pleasant backdrop and cute girls.

I went to the sitting room for the first time tonight with a friend. We were looking for a glass of wine and some small plates to share. The house red was fine, but the food was a HUGE disappointment. It just wasn't good. I ordered the chevre roasted red pepper spread and a bowl of tomato basil soup. The spread was mediocre at best. You could barely taste the chevre; the red pepper flavor was overwhelming. The tomato soup was the real disappointment. It looked like they poured a can of tomato sauce into a bowl and added some flakes of dried basil. I only ate about 5 bites. I mean, tomato basil soup?? Seems like that should be pretty hard to mess up. I was annoyed at wasting my money (even though it was cheap) and the calories. Both my friend and I agreed we will never go there again, despite the fact that she only lives one block away.

Elizabeth is a sweet server and we were very impressed. Very well-schooled in mixology and bartending skills.

My husband and I love going to The Sitting Room for happy hour for a couple reasons. First, the drinks are cheap. Second, the happy hour goes from 5-7 and doesn't change depending on "event nights" like so many other lower Queen Anne happy hours do. We love the fact that it goes later than most. Third, we can get really yummy tapenade and rosemary crackers for only $4 and a plate of bread and really great dipping oil for free. It actually makes a great light dinner once in a while! We also love going later at night for drinks. It's a relaxing, fun atmosphere. The only thing I would ever complain about is the slower services. The servers are friendly, but it's a little slow sometimes.

Pros: Happy hour, location, atmophere

Cons: Slower service sometimes

Thank you Sitting Room for a great Birthday! The party was lively and memorable. The service impressive and quick. The server well versed in the details of the drinks and the business. Very grateful and pleased by such a pleasant, generous experience. Delicious asparagus soup and Kir Martini.

Pros: Attentive service and romantic atmosphere.

Cons: Off the beaten path. Do not frequent Queen Anne.

The waitresses are fashionable, not 'uber-trendy' (whoever wrote the bickering review below sounds bitter and just plain lame) and attentive. The service is seems pleasant and natural... and the whole scene is stylish and pleasing to the eye. The beer, prosciutto, bruschetta, and pretty cocktails are my favorite in town (or at least this part of town!) Beautiful drinks and bartenders.

If you’re down about the slipping economy, go to The Sitting Room! The price for appetizers vs. the miniscule amount you get, will take you back to the dot-com boom when people had money to burn! Or maybe you’ve always dreamt of being a starving artist in Paris but can’t afford the trip? Go to The Sitting Room! Ten bucks will give you that pauper feel with three little pieces of cheese and five tiny pieces of bread, (asking for butter or olive oil put our uber-trendy female server over the edge). What about a date going bad? Finish off the night at The Sitting Room – music so tasteless and loud; the sound of your girlfriend whining at you for the umpteenth time will be sweet relief to the Euro-trash techno. (The next time I went to The Sitting Room, the music was so loud even our server had a pained look on his face as he tried to take our order. We asked if he could turn the music down, thankfully he and the bartender obliged - until later, much to my amazement the owner arrived and the first thing he did was turn the music up! When we asked our server about the noise level, he apologized and explained that the owner likes it lively. I can only assume the owner doesn’t need customers?) Being the forgiving masochist that I am, I tried The Sitting Room one more time. The issue was a drunk woman next to us, wailing over having just been dumped and left there. I can only assume her boyfriend knew she’d be loud and was looking for the perfect place to camouflage her noise? I still recommend this place though; to people I can’t stand. I like knowing where my enemies are so I don’t run into them!

Pros: live out starving artist fantasies

Cons: expensive, loud, shrill atmosphere

I've never tasted the food here, we always go for drinks. Service is great - our cups were never dry. The last time we went was a couple of months ago after a Sonics game. Our friends really liked the place. The best thing about it is you can have a conversation, hear every word, but still be able to listen to great music.

nice ambiance. swell service. this place serves a damn fine manhattan and hot toddy. I went a few months back and the girl bartending served my makers w/ a cherry and a twist, just how I like it ( with no request.) She also stuck cloves in my roommate's lemon for her hot toddy, and a sprig of thyme in mine (after the manhattan, that is.) I was very impressed by the attention to detail and the warm, dark environment. thank you. -ROCKY

Pros: good bartending.

Cons: queen anne can be wierd.
