5 Point Cafe/5 Point Laundry First of all the staff at the cafe are so not helpful. Me and a friend waited 20 mins before someonw took our order. The food is ok but has made me and my friend the last time we visited. The fact that they own the laundry mat next door says that they expect you to get sick on yourself and want to use they laundry mat. The laundry mat is crappy. They only have 6 washers and 8 dryers that work. Went I need to wash a load of clothes for work. They only had 4 washers and 3 dryers up and working. The change machine does not take the new bills. The price for the items in the vending machine are way to high. Bums and drugies come in the sleep on the chairs. All the smokers from the cafe stand right in front of the enterance so all their smoke windblows in whenever the door is open. Both places look like they could use a really good cleaning.

Pros: there isnt one I could ever think of

Cons: Very poor service

So...upon reading reviews I wanted to try this place out for breakfast since my husband and I love a good breakfast joint. That being said, I had to take a few to say that our visit to the 5 Point Cafe blew. We came for breakfast our first day visiting Seattle on a Saturday morning. I thought it was cool inside, definitely dive, with the locals on the one side at the bar, and a group of 4 at a table on the restaurant side. Note: besides us, only one other table with people (and they were done eating). We ordered a couple of short stacks, a side of ham an OJ and some water. Got the food, but come to find out...its very difficult to eat pancakes without utensils, and tend to be a lil dry without some butter and syrup, so we requested these "special" items from our waitress, along with the water and OJ that hadn't come yet. I had eaten about half my first pancake by tearing it into pieces before the forks came. :( The food actually was pretty decent, not earth-shaking, but good. We had determined that we'll get something to drink after we leave since our waitress wasn't able to sit at the counter for as long as she did and hand us a couple of glasses of beverages. Taxing, I know! We heard the people at the other table asking for their check and then later questioning the prices saying..."no, we had this...not that" etc. Isn't that what they write the orders down for? LOL. We decided at that point to go directly to the cash register rather than wait for the check. So when we went to pay, my husband asked her to take the OJ off, and the waitress asked why...he stated...well, we never got it. She said, "oh really?". WTF? We were one of two occupied tables! Anyway, I found it pretty laughable. I have never actually had that bad of service. And when I say bad, I mean it. She was a total dingbat. :) But I still loved Seattle!!

Pros: Decent ham slice and pancakes

Cons: Service blew

The 5 point used to be our favorite breakfast stop...we only stopped going because we found somewhere closer to our apt. The food is great and the sercive is what' you expect from a dive bar. It's clean enough and a great place to go after being out at the bars.

Yup - pretty standard faire served just the way you expect standard faire served. More 'food is fuel' than 'food is art,' but you could guess that from the street. Drinks are alright, but nothing that each neighborhoods' dive can't offer. But the service is the greatest deterrent. Our waitress was incapable of either friendliness or multi-tasking. Waited forever to place our order in the non-even-half-full restaurant side of the 5 Point, and then waited for - no kidding - 20 minutes for biscuits and gravy. Isn't that already made and just waiting for assembly?!? Cheesey tater-tots' cheese wasn't melted either. Seems like pretty basic stuff to me. So skip it. Go somewhere you may actually feel welcome...

Good place to stop for food (and last call) if you're heading back to your hotel near the Space Needle from partying at the clubs downtown on 1st and 2nd Avenues. It's an 'in your face' type of bar w/ a greasy spoon type menu. Not a destination but a good place to end the night.

I have to STRONGLY disagree with the "Best Service I Ever Had" comment!! I was absolutely appaled by the horrific service I received there. My two friends and I went in there for lunch, and the waitress was hands down, the RUDEST person I have ever met. When ordering, she would literally stare at us with this "What the hell do you want?" look on her face. When she forgot one of our sodas, we politley asked her for it, and she rolled her eyes and walked away. I was seriously stunned. To top it all off, there was a long dark hair ,literally wrapped around and embedded into my friends roast beef. When we pointed it out...she again...rolled her eyes. She came back and rudely said this "The cook doesn't have dark hair." Then stared at us with this annoyed look on her face, waiting for us to say something. When we asked for something else, she said "Well, the hair is not from anyone that works here, but I guess I can ask for another one." She seriously implied that it came from one of us, when 2 of us had blonde hair, and the other buzzed cut hair. She never aplogized, and when she brought out the new meal, she just dropped it on the table and walked away. It was the most amazing display of poor customer service I had EVER experienced. Not just at restaruants, but anywhere!

Pros: great fried mac and cheese

Cons: horrific service

It's a great little spot to get a nice stiff drink and some excellent "greasy spoon" fare. You can get a chicken fried steak bigger than your hand that's excellent with mashed potatoes and smothered in country gravy. There's an open-faced turkey sandwich which is scrumptious. I've heard many people say that they serve some of the best fish n chips this side of ... Fish n Chips Town. It's not about polite service, it's about getting boozed up and fed.

Pros: Great drinks, great "greasy spoon" cooking

Cons: Not a fancy place to take a date, but a good place to take some dates.

I stumbled into the 5 Point when I was in town on business awhile back and I have been stumbling back in ever since. The service is great, better than I have experienced at much more expensive restaurants. The food is awesome, never had a menu item that I didn't like and the corned beef hash is the best I have ever had in a restaurant. The urinal periscope is a must see, but once seen the bathroom is best avoided. I take my family here about once a month and for a self proclaimed "dive" they are very family friendly. I don't drink so I can't rate the bar, but the restaturant is everything a hungry man could ask for-great service, homemade food, and huge portions. Don't miss it!

Pros: Service is awesome

Cons: Parking can be hard to come by and the bathrooms tend to be a little rough

I expected to like this place with all the great reviews. While this might be fun for drinks when it's dark, don't go for the food and if you value cleanliness. I found this place to be generally dirty, and the food was not good. Honestly, I'd rather eat at Denny's.
