What a great breakfast place here in Belltown! I tried the touted eggs benedict and thought the dish was fair -- a bit too much sauce for my taste -- but the other dishes I viewed others eating looked quite tasty. What I enjoyed the most about CJ's was the great service and attentiveness from the staff. Let's face it, most Seattle restaurants are know stellar in this capacity but CJ's has a great team that made me feel at home as a single diner. I will be coming back for more!
Pros: breakfast choices
Cons: no bar

This place rocks! I mean the food is great and the service is consistently good. You would be hard pressed to find a better breakfast place, and I have looked. Truly a Belltown gem!
Pros: Great food!
Cons: getting fat

i love the blintzes and swedish pancakes. They serve the best warm american breakfast! it was fast and the place was really nice. Our server was great, but the drink server was kinda not pleasant as only one of the 8 of us order a latte besides the water. It was odd that they have different person handle the drinks in my personal opinion. Else than that, i will definately come back for more omelette and pancakes! yummy!

I've been going to CJ's for almost ten years now and it's as comfortable to me as my Mom's kitchen. The service is always friendly, efficient and sometimes even entertaining...I go there when I'm in the mood for a excellent breakfast, or a comforting lunch. My absolute favorite is the chicken fried steak with home made country gravy, unless it's a saturday or sunday, and then the eggs benedict is hands down the best I've ever had. If I need a quick meal to sustain me on the go, they've got me outta there quick. This is a place, if you frequent, will know your name, family members, and order after a few trips. The food is always consistant, and the staff is hopeful to please. Let Cj's become your second home also...
Pros: Quick, fast and friendly service. Consistant food, and small family owned feel..
Cons: wait on weekends, metered parking on from 8-6, except on sundays

Our server recommended the Biscuits and Gravy, so I ordered it. I had no idea at first eggs and grits were included, but they were, so I said fine. To my surprise the Gravy sauce on the biscuits was red (not white) had bay leaves in it, and was EXTREMELY salty -- like ocean water, causing anyone to purse their lips on eating it. I did complain after two bites, and the server promised to investigate, then returned stating that all the chefs agreed that the gravy "s*cks" that day, so she would give me a "comp" meal. Then she cleared some dishes and asked if I wanted to keep the grits and so I said sure. Little did I know that she would charge me BOTH for the replacement meal (Lox bagel) plus *two separate side dishes* -- eggs ($2.50) and grits ($2.50) (the latter I obviously did not touch). I asked "So I'm paying $5 extra for two sides, , one of which I didn't eat, which is more than half the cost of any breakfast, PLUS I'm paying for the 'comp' meal of the lox bagel?" "That's how we added it up." "But I didn't *order* the sides separately, they just came along with the meal that was awful. I thought you weren't charging me for the entire meal." "But you kept the sides and ate your eggs so we have to charge you." "But I thought you said you wouldn't given the kitchen problem?" "Oh, no, that's not what I meant." And there she left it. So, I get a really crappy meal, and then have to go through the embarassment of sending the main course back and waiting for a new dish, and everything else I get charged for as if I ordered it "on the side," without advance notice I'd pay extra for the inconvenience? And when I complain about the charges, I don't get any further consideration? As I told the waitress, "this is my first time here and my last time too." Her only response was: "I'm sorry you feel that way." The right response would have been to get a manager who could strike that nickel-and-diming of sides I didn't order, so I might return again. I won't.

I took my two kids to this place on a Saturday morning. Everything about breakfast was great! It was very busy, but we were seated relatively promptly. Our waitress was efficient and friendly (plus she happened to be adorable). Our meals were delicious and abundant (a little too abundant- I would recommend splitting meals unless you are VERY hungry). I understand now why so many people were patronizing the restaurant! I will be back soon.
Pros: great service; abundant, delicious food
Cons: a little noisy

I'm almost scared to write this review, for fear of spoiling one of Seattle's best kept breakfast secrets. All of the Editor's top picks are fine restaurants - some of them excellent. CJ's wins my vote for "Best in Seattle." Walk in, sit down, and have a hot fresh coffee within seconds. Order your meal, and start your weekend crossword... In an average under 8 minutes your breakfast will arrive HOT and DELICIOUS. (I'm not joking... the first time I thought it was an anomaly, but I've timed it on several visits...) This is not fine dining by any means. This is diner fare - similar to what you can find in other places... What makes the difference is the consistent HIGH quality, the speed, the friendly and VERY attentive wait staff. On second thought... never mind... I don't want to have to wait for a seat anytime soon...
Pros: FAST
