When did the Crocodile, once a Seattle landmark for local hipsters and indie rockers, go from peaceful hip scensters to down right scary. You can't even get into the crocodile now without getting past a VERY angry bulldog of a front door man who searches every inch of your purse - including inside pockets and gum wrappers and lipstick cases -- and he is SUPER rude about it -- its more of a purse check than Seatac or Safeco. When asked why the Croc has turned to such intense searches, the response was "so your f@#$ing a*s doesnt get stabbed in there." When did the Croc get so scary, and stabbings??! -- my advice, remember it how it used to be and STAY AWAY. So so sad, but true.
Pros: the memories
Cons: the intense search check and scary front door men

I've been to the Crocodile a few times for live music, which is fine, but going during the day for the food is a miserable experience. Wait staff has been downright hostile both times. When my friend mentioned to our server that we had been waiting 20 minutes to order, the server barely managed to be civil. She finally took our order, and the food came out another 20 minutes later. This was in a nearly empty restaurant with servers who had enough time to go for frequent smoke breaks. We were both disgusted.

A fun place to see a show. We went for the first time tonight and really enjoyed it! That being said... the smoke was way to much. I could barely breath and it took away from the night. but all and all its a cool funky place with surprisingly nice sound!
Pros: layout, location, sound
Cons: smoke, smoke, smoke

My two friends and I waited 15 minutes for our food to arrive, after waiting 10 minutes for our drinks. When it did show up, it was only 2 of the 3 dishes. I waited ANOTHER 15 minutes for my order while my friends ate. When we had finished, the waitress ignored us for 20 minutes while we waited to pay, yet she went to each of her other tables. Definitely not worth the time spent staring at the clock.
Pros: Cheap food., Guinness!, Atmosphere & Music
Cons: Service, Service, Service

We stopped everyday of our vecation at the crocodile cafe and had delicious food there - cooked from the german cook "Herbie". There were also cool punk bands playing in the night. Thanx Oli & Claudi
Pros: super food, nice people

the Croc is great since they still let local bands play even while hosting big touring bands. this is a very cool spot with interesting decor and a pretty clean floor actually. they've got food usually also. i know my buddies band, The Pale, is playing there Feb 6th, so check that out. they are on 107.7 all the time now.
Pros: bands, weird decor
Cons: rare all ages

Good place to people watch. All types of people hang out here, drinks are of average price. Can sit down or dance. I use this place to sober up before driving home. Cover charge can be pretty high for caliber of bands that play there. Every once in awhile they get someone good in there but you shouldn't pay more that a $2 or $3 cover to get into that place
Pros: Diff. types of people, good service
Cons: can be crowded, cover charge

I like coming here for breakfast on the weekends. Yes, it does have something to do with the fact that I can walk to the place from my flat in Belltown. However, more compelling than just proximity, the food is just as good as what you'd get at the 5 Spot (think good diner food), and mimosas are generously poured. No lines, no waiting. Interesting people-watching both on the street and in the cafe. and now you can say you've been to the Crocodile :) A good start -- now, while you're waiting for breakfast, read the Croc's list of upcoming shows and make plans to come back here for the full experience :)
Pros: good mimosas, good food, no lines,no waiting

This little club is a great alternative to the Showbox. It's more intimate, and if things get crazy you can move to the bar in the back.
Pros: Small, Good acoustics, Back room
Cons: Late shows
