Dishonest . . .
by afjag97
This could be a great place, but they are dishonest. The guy who works the bowling counter on Saturday night is a liar. When I arrived at 6:30 p.m., I specifically asked him about the lane rates. He said, "It's $10 an hour, as long as you want." Of course, when I paid my bill at 7:45 he charged me at the outrageous $25 an hour rate beginning at 7:00 p.m. When I asked him about it, he smiled and said, "Read the sign." Integrity is a must, even in a pool hall.
MY FAVROITE SPOT IN WASHINGTON!

The Garage not only is the best bowling alley/pool hall, it delivers everything you wouldn't expect in terms of food/service/atmosphere. We came here for a large party and thought maybe we should eat somewhere first. (My experience has been don't eat at bowling alleys.) However to my surprise, the food was to die for (the pizza was my favorite!) The drinks were made perfectly and the quick service definitely helped my bowling average! I like that I still feel like I am at the hottest spot on a weekend night.
Thank you Garage!
- Pros: Chic atmosphere, great lanes, excellent service!
- Cons: Did you not read my comments?? Nothing negative about this place!
Great food, great staff, a pleasure to work with.

I arrange events for my company, and it has never been as easy, or as much of a success as it was with the Garage. I had a group of about 250 people, not an easy number of guests to take care of, but the Garage staff handled us with flying colors. We were given the Star Light Lounge (the Garage's newest addition) as our own private party hall. 6 private bowling lanes, pool tables, and a private bar. Each staff member working our function was friendly and acommadating, making a seemingly daunting task of organizing a 250 person function, easy. The food was great, the drinks were strong and never left our hands, and the Garage delivered on everything they promised. They definititely gained themselves 250 more loyal customers.
Thank you, Garage!!
- Pros: Great service, really good drinks, nice staff.
AWESOME SPOT

I LOVE the new space at the bowling alley, GARAGE, on Capitol Hill! It really is a beautiful space with many curious and interesting art pieces to look at. I've attended many events there over the years and think it just continues to get better and better! When exploring which space would be best for our group there where so many options available. The person I spoke to on the phone was very thorough and knowledgeable about which areas he thought would best suit us. At the private birthday party we had, there seemed to just be endless amounts of food! And delicious to boot! I loved the thin crust pizzas and crisp veggies to dip in the garlic hummus! The bartender was so sweet and patient with me when I couldn't make up my mind about what to drink...She suggested a grapefruit press and it was PERFECT!! Refreshing...sweet and tart at the same time! We had a great experience there! They were all very accomodating and professional and we had a BLAST because of it!! I highly recommend this venue for your party or just hanging out w/ a group of friends!
- Pros: parking garage right next to it!
- Cons: little chilly inside, bring a sweater until you start bowling!
Money hungy, bad service, watered down drinks.... terrible management, snide, you name it
by seattleforever
Ok... so we were there last night for a birthday party and we rented the room for the night and they didn't let us know about a minimum drink/food order. We didn't have a contract with them and this minimum was never discussed until it came time to pay. When it came to check out they stuck us with a $600.00 tab on top of what the 40 or so people paid individually. We thought it was unreasonable and their managers said that they have a min and we need to pay it or they will run it on our credit card anyway. Then they said "you can just take home several bottles of wine to make up the difference." So we did trying to be "fair" and "agreeable".
Then, they literally took 1.5 hours to find the bottles of wine, run the credit card, etc. Terrible. The very last thing you want to do as the party thrower, and Bday boy for 1.5 hours after you just drank and bowled for 4 hours. We asked for help to speed it up and their terrible waitress says in a snide way "I don't want to be here either, this wasn't exactly a huge party (looking for tips) and I want to leave too..."
Anyway, they lacked tack in every way... when we asked to speak with the decision maker my brother in law literally got kicked out of the bar for asking even thought it was polite.
We have had fun other times here and have had a good experience in general... until we came with a party. They showed total devotion to themselves over the customers and were just terrible to deal with. Apparently they have new management too... so maybe that is the difference from other experiences here.
I would highly discourage any large group from using the Garage as a venue. They clearly don't care about their customers... and again... the worst way to end a party is to standing there while someone takes an hour and a half checking you out. Terrible...
- Pros: It is the only decent bowling ally in Seattle. Not a pro, but that is all I can think of...
- Cons: Terrible Service, terrible management, awful!
Worst management and staff ever
by Bella123456789
This place is horrible with the new owners/management. This was a regular place for us to go and play pool for the last 5 years, until just recently. On a Saturday night, I was threatened by one of their patrons. She prevented me from playing pool based on where she was sitting. I asked her to move and her boyfriend threatened me. He was screaming and making a scene. When I asked the doorman to help us with these people, it was quite obvious the screaming man was one of doorman's friends. The door man did nothing to help the situation, so we could play the pool game we were paying to play. When the verbal altercation with the patrons next to us continued, I asked to speak to the manager. I was ignored; he couldn't have cared less. The change in the atmosphere and the people who now go here reflects the horrible staff and management. I have never been threatened with a gun before, and it is not something I would ever had expected before. Avoid this place at all costs! It is now dangerous to go there.
- Pros: nothing with the change in managment and/or ownership
- Cons: Thug patrons and horrible staff and management
Rude, crowded and expensive and has watered down vodka......
by kirillgil007
Expensive ? over $300 for a party of 8
Horrible service - Takes for ever to receive service, and really no one cares. Also constantly messing up the orders and refuse to admit it.
Worst bar I have ever seen ? Chilled vodka is mixed with ice ? and allowed to sit making it extremely watered down ( I am Russian trust me I know my vodka, I also bartend). Kamikaze tastes like sugar water and lemon (should be lime and they over do it with triple sec)
Finally ? when asked to see the manager or the owner ? we were cut of the bar by saying ?good night? and then announcing to the whole place over the loud speakers not to ser us (BTW none of us was even close to being drunk). When I go out and we spend over $500 on drinks, pool and food, I expect service and I expect respect. We have respectfully left the place and will never come back I hope anyone who reads it will follow this example. There are plenty of great places around Seattle. Belltown billiards at least doesn?t water their drinks and has better music? (I am not affiliated with them)
- Pros: Ok pool
- Cons: BAD everything else
Watch that liquor!
by eddiedoyle
The food isn't splendid, but it's OK. I'm not a beer drinker and apparently beer is why this place exists. I had no idea that when you order a double here, they charge you for two cocktails, and cocktails here are $8! So two double gimlets and a quesadilla was $53! And by double here I'm not talking enormous drinks. Just something that isn't all ice. That's just plain greed.
If you go, drink beer (if you like beer). I won't go back. Too damn pricey!
Close fun for SU
by katkin
Went here for some friend's 21st parties while attending SU. Fun little place that can get pretty busy at night. Decent prices, good place to sit and chat and meet people. Also, pool and bowling within steps of the university!
- Pros: Close-in fun
- Cons: Crowds of odd folks
