A cool place with a strange name. Hugo House calls itself a "literary arts center," which is a little obscure, but it hosts all sorts of plays, art exhibitions, readings and other events. The really unusual thing is the annual Inquiry, when they have all sorts of panels, performances, readings and other activities focused on one cultural issue -- the one in 2002 is "Surveillance." The cafe is a nice place to sit, too, although you have to check when it's open.
Pros: Hip, Literary, Good Parking
