I've had plenty of good experiences with Borracchini's, and plenty of not-so-good ones. Their bakery and deli stuff is for the most part incredibly cheap, and some of it is really surprisingly good given the low price. The various breads are tasty, the blueberry muffins are yummy, and an eggplant panini or a mozzarella and tomato sandwich will make a great lunch for $3 or less. However, the chocolate ganache cake I once bought there was inedible! It tasted of some sort of chemical, I couldn't tell what it was, but definitely not something that belonged in a chocolate cake! Also, the fruit topping they use for danishes and lattice pies is about 80% starch, 10% sugar, and 10% food coloring. I couldn't find a trace of any kind of fruit or berries. Yuck! I haven't had much luck with their soups either... Eventually, I managed to identify the good stuff at Borracchini's and learned what to avoid. It may take some time, however, and not everyone will be willing to give them a second chance if their first experience is a bad one.

This is the best place to go for lunch!! The cakes are Great!! But the food is not to be missed. Had a great experance with my wedding cake a few years ago. They showed up early and the set up was so nice and wonderful. Great prices on Olive Oil too.

The oil selection at safeway just wasnt doing it for me, so I took a trip down to Borracchini's. I asked for help and recieved a little rundown of their oils. I picked one out and I think for the bottle size it was VERY reasonably priced. What I love about this place is all the small imported things you just cant find at your regular grocery store. I almost bought a tube of tomato paste last night- and waited. I'm glad I did. The imported version I got at Borraccchinis was less than a 1/3rd of the price (3 dollars vs 9 something). I love their frozen pastas and dinners (the lasagna is excellent and most certainly beats stouffers!) And then there is the 20 ft long bakery counter. I was given a peanut butter cookie to sample and ended up buying a dozen, as well as a black forest cake. The cake was VERY reasonably priced at 6.99 (compared to 12.99 at safeway for the same thing). I have been here many times- the staff is friendly, the baked goods are delicious ( try their cobblers or GIANT brownies), and the prices cant be beat. Oh and seriously- can anyone turn down 24 flavors of soft serve?

Pros: Service, Value, Bakery

Cons: Gets busy on the weekends

OKAY...I dont want cake that is oozing thick sugary frosting, and soggy with rum-soaked this, and and wrapped in -by the way - non tasty marzipan and shaped to look like a dog, or cow or cell phone. I want a cake. With basic frosting, cool airspray or hand made designs, that can feed 50 or 10 and some nice fillings. They take the orders online or in person...and deliver, get this....anywhere in Seattle. They just drop off the cake at your office door. Or your condo in Seattle. How much easier and tastier can it get ? If folks want rum soaked, sugar thick frosting over cakes that are works of art: stay away. THis is basic, good old fashioned Old Country cake making. And the rest of the bakery ? YUMYUMYUMYUM

Pros: You name it (frozen fresh pizza dough, sauces, meatballs)

Cons: This is not art. THis is basic old country grocery store. It has corner tables to sip latte and eat strudel or a fresh salami sandwich. Mange !

I hada Remo Borracchini's cake at every birthday when I was younger. The cakes are just average, sometimes dry. I wouldn't recommened them, but I wouldn't talk anyone out of getting one either.

Pros: breadsticks, cold cuts

I ordered two cakes for a baby shower and they were not ready on time. They were not decorated and in their rush to get it done while I waited, they screwed it up. The cakes were very ugly to look at. The staff was rude and unhelpful and never apologized for the screw up. To make matters worse, the cakes tasted terrible! The frosting tasted like lard and sugar - no vanilla flavoring or anything - and the cake was dry. I'd have been better off getting a cake from the grocery store. Twinkies would have been heaven in comparison.

Cons: rude staff, tasted terrible, looked ugly
