Take your chances
by lvgrandma
This is my first written review for a restaurant. I am writing this review because the luncheon meal we had at the Atlas last week was possibly one of the worst meals we have ever had. Both the presentation of the food and the taste were completely unappealing and unappetizing. When our plates arrived at our table, the french fries were mostly black in color. We thought they were burned. These fries were not burned, they were limp, oily and tasteless. We could not figure out why the french fries were so black in color -- it wasn't from the addition of cajun spices because the fries had no flavor. If these fries were some kind of new, designer potato, it didn't work for us. I got a pulled pork sandwich with coleslaw. The pork was tough, stringy and dried out. The barbeque sauce was much too spicy. I could only eat half of this sandwich because the sauce was fiery hot in an unpleasant way. The cabbage in the coleslaw was chopped in huge chunks. What little dressing there was on the cabbage was thin, watery and tasteless. My husband got fish and chips -- the fish was cold in the middle. We will never eat there again.
- Pros: The waitress was very nice and friendly.
- Cons: None of our food was appetizing.
Worst Breakfast in Seattle!
by SeattleCritic
My husband I love going out to breakfast and have tried most of the good restaurants in Seattle. When we go out to breakfast we are looking for good service and good portion sizes. I ordered the Monte Cristo breakfast sandwich. I have never had a Monte Cristo before so being that my husband use to be in the restaurant industry he explained to me what it was. When the sandwich arrived he thought they gave me the wrong thing. It was a tiny open face sandwich with a piece of ham and cheese on it. The tiny sandwich came with a piece of pineapple and melon...no potatoes, hashbrowns, nothing!
My husband got the Cornbeef Hash that took up 1/4 of his plate and 1/4 to fruit and that was it. Do not have breakfast at the Atlas- it's a joke! It is pretty hard to screw up breakfast, but they manage to do so. If you want good breakfast in the University area go to Portage Bay. Our favorite place is in Queen Anne- Queen Anne Cafe.
Escape the mall's brand-name bustle with locally-owned comfort food.

In Short
Upscale environment meets mid-priced entrees at this large, independently owned dining establishment. The bright-red booths face an inviting bar area, and funky art adorns the walls. The menu is a mix of American standards, like fried chicken and mashed potatoes, and other rotating seasonal items. Desserts include cobbler a la mode, served with a cup of Caffe Vita.
Wonderful pulled pork sandwich!

My boyfriend and I have been to Atlas several times, and we enjoy it. Our mutual favorite is Reverend Livingston's Barbeque Pork Sandwich. The service can be a bit slow at times, and the restaurant is a bit loud, but overall we like the ambiance. We had lunch there today for $35 dollars (a mocha, a beer, and 2 entrees), which is a bit spendy...but it's fun to go occasionally. I like their attempts to get sustainable food. I'm not a big fish-eater, but I am always impressed by their seasonal fish menu items.
- Pros: Awesome pulled pork sandwich
- Cons: A bit loud
Worst fries in Seattle
by cubs1fan
I agree with the reviewer from 2/28/08. I ordered a po' boy and it was terrible. The bread on mine, as well as my friends' dinners, were dried out. They had the burger and thought it was pretty bland. The topper was that the fries were sloppy (lack of a better description). It seems as though the oil was not hot enough and so the fries soaked up all the oil, making it a pretty nasty lunch. Anyway, won't go there again.
Worst burger I've had in a long time
by hilt
We had a couple of hours at UVillage, so we decided on Atlas because of its varied menu and no line at the time (5:30 pm on a Saturday - we should have known). We were seated in the bar - our table turned out to be in line with the cold draft coming from the front door. I was craving a burger - it arrived considerably smaller than the bun it was on, crusty on the outside, and not juicy at all. I had to ask for mayo (although ketchup and mustard were delivered to the table). The fries that came with it were cold. All in all, a disappointing meal. Service was very slow. The waitress was pleasant but overworked and only filled our water glasses once toward the end of our meal. The restaurant is filled with young families - I have two kids of my own but if I was looking for a quiet place with my husband I wouldn't try this place again. Burgermaster nearby would have been a better bet for the money!
- Pros: Family friendly (they have STROLLER parking)
- Cons: Mediocre food
Forgettable
by seattle_foodie
I went to this place last summer, but I just remember the food (salmon and calamari) to be lukewarm and overpriced; not that the food was bad, nothing exceptional. I also got a poorly concocted strawberry lemonade that tasted of water and syrup. The waiter rarely came around, and also had difficulty in divided the bill in two. So So for this Chow Foods' Chain restaurant.
Generally good

We've eaten here regularly for the last few years. We do have kids, and they love it here. The staff has been thoughful and helpful, especially when I've come with two kids by myself. They also do an ala carte veggie for my kids that's not on the menu. Everytime. I find the food so-so myself and at busy times it's too loud and crowded, but overall it's a good experience.
- Pros: Kid friendly, healthier than fast-food
- Cons: Loud, so-so food for adults
Our Saturday Staple!
by eljakes
I am surprised by the previous reviews.
I go to Atlas every Saturday for brunch and have done so for the last 3 years. It's loud, it's busy, there are kids everywhere, but it's always fun and delicious. As a single Mom, I appreciate how accomodating they are to children and adults alike. The servers and hosts always respectfully address my children and never make us feel unwelcome. I love their Challah french toast. The service is always upbeat and open to special requests. There is always a wait for a seat, but hey- it's Saturday brunch everywhere is busy.
My girlfriends and I will occasionally go for their excellent weekday happy hour and are convinced is one of the best in town. They never give us the attitude that many other places do when I order just happy hour items.
I eat out often and I really like Atlas.
- Pros: service, food, parking
- Cons: many unruly children, quite loud, very busy
Wasn't worth what we paid, and we paid nothing!

A friend and I were given a $50 dollar gift card to chow foods. Living closest to Atlas foods we went there. I was hoping for a salmon and my friend was looking for pasta; both items were readily available on the online sample menus.
Well, neither existed (except that they had salmon fettucini), and it was just not good. Milk is thicker than their clam chowder.
- Pros: French Fries
- Cons: Everything!!!
