What users are saying:
Old-style cool still pervades this downtown piano bar.

The Scene
Opened in 1926 atop the Camlin Hotel, this venerable establishment was once the height of sophistication (Sinatra visited back in the day). Eleven stories up, it now barely reaches the knees of downtown high-rises.
The Draw
A handsome, dark-wood, clubby place, the smoky lounge draws singles--old and young--on weekends for piano music and flirtation. In the dining room, couples in green Naugahyde chairs soak up city views. The (often noisy) kitchen produces a short menu of contemporary Northwest/Mediterranean food: filet mignon, tableside Caesar salad for two, fish of the day. Results are mixed.
delightful all around

The first time I stepped into the Cloud Room, I was delighted by the view. The food was exceptional (I was there for breakfast and had a traditional meal.) On subsequent visits I have been equally impressed. I usually have lunch there (my favorite is the wonderful veggie sandwich.) There is something for whatever mood I am in. When I do have dinner there, I am equally pleased, although the show crowd can be hectic; the Camlin is right across from the Paramount. FOr Dinner Only just make sure to leave at least an hour and show up on time and you'll be cool.
- Pros: Great food, good prices, great view
- Cons: n/a
Delightful Surprise
by SeattleGourmet
The Cloud Room Restaurant is one of downtown Seattle's hidden treasures. From the sparkling skyline view to the exquisite food, the Cloud Room at the Camlin Hotel is superb.
I started with an appetizer of artichoke and arugala dip served with pita. It was redolent with fresh herbs and cheese- and there was enough for two! I then had the lamb that was done to perfection and served with delicious roast garlic mashed potatoes. My date had the seafood ensemble- a dungeness crab cake nicely perfumed with saffron, a filet of halibut crusted with pistachios, and a filet of salmon with fresh herbs- each with it's own wonderful sauce.
The service was nicely reserved in keeping with the Old World charm of the room. The wine selection was modest yet appropriate.
I heartily recommend this fine establishment to anyone looking a romantic getaway in the city.
- Pros: Intimate Dining, Exellent Food
WAIT STAFF HAS GOD COMPLEX
by jzlotnick
I was appalled at the poor quality of service my friends and I recieved. Two days later I am still waiting for the drinks I ordered. The waitstaff is more concerned about their own needs than the customers. Someone needs to remind this restaurant they are in the SERVICE industry. Without customers, there would be no business. It is clear to me they have forgotten this and think the world revolves around the staff rather than the opposite. With all the great locations in Seattle, I highly recommend, you skip this overly smokey, has-been location.
HORRID SERVICE & MGT
by karlathar
HORRIBLE! HORRIBLE! HORRIBLE!
YOU SHOULD BE GRATEFUL FOR THE CUSTOMERS YOU HAVE RATHER THAN RUNNING THEM OUT! YOU MIGHT WANT TO LET YOUR WAITRESSES KNOW WITHOUT CUSTOMERS SHE WOULDN'T BE PAID. FOR THE MANAGER AND BOUNCER - REMEMBER THE CUSTOMER MAY ACTUALLY BE RIGHT!! I'M RECOMMENDING TO ALL MY FRIENDS THE CLOUD ROOM SHOULD NEVER BE ON THE LIST OF PLACES TO GO!!!!!!!!!
- Cons: WAITRESSES, MANAGERS, BOUNCERS
Cloud Room - a joke!?
by DaSwede
Been traveling a lot all over the world, and I must say that this is the WORST experience in my life. The personnel working in the bar has not a clue on how to do their job. They are rude and sloppy. They seem to have forgotten that they are getting paid to let the guests, that are spending money there, to have a nice experience and get good service. Their attitude seem to be that the guests are in the way of their work. To have to adjust your seating when a waitresses desides to rearrange tables (after hours of same setting), pushing and shoving guests in different directions. I wonder how they would do if they had a lot of guests??? Really the worst I have ever experienced and I would not go there again if they where the only place in the world!!!!
- Pros: The drinks
- Cons: The personnel, service, attitude
Go for the drinks, not the food..
by thedesignmercenary
Great drinks.. beautiful patio perfect for warm spring and summer nights outside in the cool breezes.. decent menu, though slow service [servers are generally fairly sweet about it though].. be prepared for quite a crowd [mostly 30somethings] on the weekends.. watch out for the pianist inside.. if you like vegas-type covers you're in for a treat, otherwise sit out side and enjoy the air.. definitely a good spot for drinks but not dinner
- Pros: great patio, good drinks
- Cons: crap music, slow service
Bad
by Brenda_Starr
Perhaps Seattle's worst-managed restarant. I agree that you are risking the worst meal in Seattle if you go here. They routinely run out of stock ingredients for recipes, (they even ran out of beer!) and they don't care or try to take care of things if they go wrong. Pop by for a beer (if they have it that night) because of the view from the lounge, but don't risk the restaurant.
- Pros: great view from bar, nice patio, convenient paramount
- Cons: runs out of ingredien, poor customer service
Great new menu!
by goddess_x
There is a new menu and a new chef. The food is better than it has been in years and they now serve the entire dinner menu in the bar. What a great place for after work drinks and apps.
- Pros: excellent food, romantic, fun piano bar
- Cons: crowded on weekends, limited parking
