What happened?! This used to be 1 of my favorite places; it is VERY heartbreaking to see how much this place has declined. The once attentive, knowledgeable staff has been replaced by warm bodies. My friends & I decided to enjoy dinner & a view at Calcutta Grill. The oblivious hostess sat our party @ a table w/a nice centerpiece of sticky mystery sauce & was trying to hand us our menus WHILE we were trying to dust off a layer of crumbs off of our seats. & what a shock! They now have a pub style menu! So now I get fish & chips w/a world class view? Where did all the romance go?! We did not see our waitress for 10-15 mins. When she finally came, we asked her about some wine & she irritatedly pointed to the most expensive wines but couldn't really give any reasons why. Maybe because she had no idea? We ordered cocktails instead, which took so long that my margarita had a layer of water on top of it; not ice. We would have asked for more lettuce to break up our good but COMPLETELY overdressed caesars, but our waitress did not even check up on us until she was dropping off our entrees. ALL 3 of our orders of scallops were overcooked to inedibility. The (med. well; not med.rare) beef tenderloin had a nice wine sauce, but the veggies tasted like they spent 1 year too long in a freezer. Again, our waitress did not come until we gave up on our meals. & the restrooms! The restrooms @ Newcastle are beautifully appointed w/marble, have completely enclosed stalls, & have all the toiletries you need. Well, this time, the garbages were overflowing onto the countertop & floor, w/TAMPON wrappers, & 2 stalls had no toilet paper. & get this! Talking on her PHONE in there the WHOLE time was the housekeeper! Where did their El Gaucho like standards go?! When we were leaving, the general manager was @ the front desk & asked us how our night went. We all looked at each other & laughed & shrugged & all he said was, “Okay, well, have a good night!” With service like that, why come back?
Pros: The view
Cons: Everything else!

The 2-Fer coupon mailed to local residents the month of October was a huge factor in our group deciding to dine there recently. While the food has never been what would be considered 5-star, it is seasonal and tasty with a nice variety of choices, especially the pastas and seafood. Happy Hour (Mon-Fri.) is a great time to relax, enjoy the fabulous view and partake in some of the many inventive cocktails (yum to the Calcutta Cosmo) or the basic beer/wine selections. An array of 1/2 price appetizers including calamari, nachos and the oh-so popular sliders is an inexpensive way to fill up fast. Casey, our waiter, was a lot of fun to banter with AND he was very attentive all evening. You can't go wrong with that combo. We have enjoyed the very expensive Sunday brunch on special occasions and lunch on the patio during the warm summer months. A very nice place to be at any time.

I had dinner with my family last night, half year had past since last time. My impression was good, but now ...not. The serve was slow, we had to wait several times. And the steak (Top sirloin was runned out. New York steak was sreved instead) tastes too bitter by burnt too much, although inside is still red. I could eat less than half. The chef was changed? This time was no good, I hope it will be better next time.

We dined at The Calcutta Grill and I had one of the best fresh swordfish dishes and my date loved the prime rib. From the restaurant you can see the entire Puget Sound area including Seattle, Bellevue, Lake Washington, Puget Sound and the Olympics. They've got a guy who plays the bag pipes each night at sunset too. Service was warm and professional. We'll be back. If you like golf, they've got the best of that too.
Pros: Food, Service, View

i have eaten a few times at the Calcutta Grill. Each time i was very pleased with not only my entree, but the desserts were fabulous! i would reccommend going to their sunday brunch. The sushi display is breathtaking!
Pros: ample parking, great food
Cons: brunch can be spendy

I went here with my parents who were visiting from out of town. The view was amazing - but we were seated at a table with a view of the fire alarm in an almost empty restaurant. The girl who seated seemed surprised when we asked for another table and had to "go check" where she could move us to. The dinner entrees - prime rib and scallops were very good. We split two desserts - the cobbler and cheesecake, and were not very impressed by either.
Pros: Amazing view!, Good food
Cons: , Unimpressive desserts

We recently dined at the Calcutta Grill on a clear Spring evening, and marveled at the quality of food as well as the amazing sunset across the skyline. The food is almost as beautiful as the view, I recommend anyone on the Eastside check this place out for at least a drink or splurge for dinner - but don't miss the sunset.
Pros: View, Food
Cons: Expensive

We've gone there many times, 90% of the time they've made us wait endlessly...but the food has always been excellent.

This destination spot has run the whole gamut in the restaurant seen. Having had several Chefs since the opening of the Calcutta grill three years ago. The food is consistantly getting better. The weekly specials are the way to go. They are always seasonal, local, and decently priced. The service could be a little more attentive however. The wine list includes plenty of options for half bottles to higher end wines for special occasions. They feature lots of northwest wines as well. The ambience is a little loud, but the view on a clear evening is well worth the drive.
Pros: view, good food, free parking
Cons: long drive, marginal service
