A great park for quiet walks in winter or noisy water play in summer.

In Short
Named after former U.S. Sen. Warren G. Magnuson, this 196-acre park was created in 1977 after the government scaled back the sprawling Sand Point Naval Air Station. On the western side of the park leading to Lake Washington's shore, dog walkers and bird watchers tread stark fields that were once airstrips, while cyclists cruise paved paths. The park also has four ball fields, six tennis courts, a boat ramp and designated swimming areas.

Everything!

One of Seattle's larger parks, there is almost nothing, you can't do. It has: dog park, sports of every kind (including indoor soccer nearby in an old hanger), boating, swimming (though the rocky beach part sucks), walking, running, bird watching, and even the somewhat famous 'Sound Garden' that the band is named after is accessible from the park. Not to forget views of the lake and Cascade Mtns. and Mt. Rainier. The old Naval Station holds events such as the 'Best of the Northwest' and is where of our famous pigs were made. Named also for our greatest Senator, and well, it truly is the best.
