bad attitudes

by chateada at Citysearch

slow service from bartenders with pissy attitudes. there is nothing more annoying than bartenders on power trips and they all seem to be on one there. not that they care, but they lost a customer tonight.

  • Pros: foos ball, carta blanca beer
  • Cons: everything else

Ruined my 21st birthday

by atherussian at Citysearch

I went here for my 21st knowing that they are a little more lax about fake id's and my friends could get in with me. I didnt expect the royal treatment but the service was TERRIBLE. The bartender was extremely rude to me, he told me if I couldn't afford to pay for my own drinks even on my birthday then I should just stay home. Which is not only completely out of line, but its just plain stupid. The drinks were awful, my friend bought me a Kamikaze that was pure vodka. The only thing you should order is beer, and the Asian bartender (I know that is not the most PC term but I didnt get his name) should be fired!

I am never returning there, and I recommend you dont go.

  • Pros: Cute atmosphere
  • Cons: Bad drinks, worse service

eww for the drinks.

by mjers at Citysearch

My first and only time at Cha Cha's was not fun. I liked the sombrero's and the funky stuff on the celing. But i had one of the worst lemondrops ever!!! maybe I was in the wrong place to get a martini but seriously i was only able to handle one sip....it was straight alcohol, i tasted no lemon.....so it was just a drop? I guess it's fun if you just like beer. oh and we were sitting right at the bar and it took the bartender about 10 minutes to notice us. awesome.

  • Pros: the ceiling.
  • Cons: drinks.

just relax and enjoy it

by aleksandr111 at Citysearch

It seems like people have a strong reaction to the Cha Cha lounge ? either they think it?s full of hipster wanna-be twenty somethings or it?s too mainstream and yuppie. Yes, there are yuppies, yes there are hipsters ? just like most of the bars on the hill. It?s a good mix of people and you can meet some really neat characters there. The new location is just fine. If you liked the old Cha Cha you?ll like the new one too. Give it a try, it might be your favorite bar around ? go with an open mind and have a Rainier.

  • Pros: Cool as ever
  • Cons: too cool for some, not cool enough for others

Cheerful people in an exotic environment

by bc173 at Citysearch

Cha Cha was the last bar I visited before taking of by plane back to Belgium (two hours later). The bar was crowded with all kinds of cheerful people. I remember getting a Tecate which is a beer I knew from Mexico. I didn't know it was an export beer so it brought back some memories. I would try out Cha Cha again if I stayed longer in Seattle. It seems a place where you can meet loads of interesting people with exciting stories in an exotic environment.

  • Pros: Exotic environment and cheerful people

hipsters unite

by binman69 at Citysearch

this is a great place to drink and smoke and if you have tatoos....strong drinks...great for people watching....but it can get too smoky...other than that..always a great place to meet people for a drink and then go over to another bar

RUINED!

by shizagism at Citysearch

This place used to be great. Quirky smokey atmosphere, visceral thrash-rock over the p/a, cheap drinks (from some of the last remaining Rainier taps left in the city), and a staff and clientele that only cared if you were there and had a drink in your hand. Plus, the kind of place that you could count on finding company any night of the week (I can remember at least a few Monday/Tuesday "whoa's-me-binge" closers with the place packed). But now, with the smoke gone, the place feels more like a frat-house than a hang-out. It used to be one of those places you could rely on not getting eyed up and down if you didn't want to--just be, not fend off someone trying to "hook up." Or listen to it. Maybe I'm just mad at the recent smoking ban (I'm not a smoker myself), but I will say this: the place has changed and not for the best. It speaks to the fact when a nearly unchanged staff in 2-3 years up and disappears in a matter of months. I'm an advocate of "getting along" but I don't think that goes as far as saying a bar has to cater to EVERYONE. If you can't deal with the smoke, go somewhere else--it's sad that a venue that was always open to the public feels like it's estranged it's loyal customer's by becoming more "public accessible." Sure, the place is still busy, the decor unchanged, Rainier taps still intact (as far as I know), but it's a far different animal. I for one, will not be frequenting anymore. The Cha Cha as I once knew it, doesn't exist. If I wanted to join a frat, I would have.....and if I wanted to see how frat guys hook up, well, there's always been Tiki Bob's.

  • Pros: always busy, the last of the Rainier taps
  • Cons: where did all the real locals go?

A hipster watering hole rife with Mexican kitsch, punk-minded patrons and stiff drinks.

by Contributor at Citysearch

In Short
The sign on the door says it all: "If you are racist, sexist, homophobic or an asshole, do not come in." Spilling over with all types of rockers and pseudo-hipster hangers-on, the indie-rock music vibrates the strings of campy red patio lights. Decor combines velvet paintings, sombreros, 1950s kitsch and booths with lacquered images of Mexican wrestlers. Skip the mediocre margaritas in favor of straightforward well drinks or ice-cold Tecate in a can.
