YES, also love the chicken liver. Waiters can be a bit aloof though. Must be the french thing. Also try the salad with hazel nuts - a perfect balance.

A friend took me here on a 'date' a couple weeks ago, and the roasted chicken was AMAZING. Probably the best chicken I've ever tasted. I've been having cravings for it ever since. We were seated promptly (it was pretty empty on a Tuesday evening) and it was nice to not have people crowding us. I will definitely be coming back here again, just for that chicken!

Pros: Chicken!

Cons: Difficult Parking

This is not a fancy spot but we have had two good meals here and we like sitting at the bar and people watching. Similarly both times we were there I saw people alone, sitting at the bar eating and looking quite comfortable. Some of the food we had was great but my fish was overdone and we had 3 good glasses of one and one bad one where it seemed as if the bartender was just trying to offload it (we asked for a recommendation). I would go back though despite these flaws.

Le Pichet is a nice place, if you could ever get any service. With the 3-4 servers there on a Friday night, seems like they should be able to get things done. The food is good, but with all of the other great French places in the city, I wouldn't bother with Le Pichet.

Pros: $4 pastis

Cons: service

While Le Pichet tries really hard to be sooo French, what they forget is that first and foremost the French are famous for their hospitality! The food is passable (although a side of fries and sausage came looking like someone had done it with last year's oil), but very little can compensate for servers forgetting that they are here to serve! - and not be imagined cultural ambassadors for an imagined France. Recommended if you want to go oomph over mediocre food while being uncomfortably seated in a narrow alley in clothes you never liked anyway.

Pros: There's plenty of options around to try instead.

Cons: See above

Le Pichet. Just the name makes me smile. I frequent this restaurant as often as possible...even though it is often crowded and noisy. The food is incredibly authentic as is the service (as in - the servers often have attitudes and are brisk just like the sterotype of French waiters). I would try to list my favorite things on the menu, but that would take up much more space then I have. If nothing else, try the chaucutrie...it is a variety of cold meats and pate...yum yum. As the tables are crammed in there and you can hear everything the tables around you are saying, I would not recommend it for "date night", but it is a great place to meet friends.

Pros: Great food!

Cons: Spotty service, space is cramped.

le pichet is a gem in the pike place market. i love to take friends there on a rainy day. the simple, french bistro fare and ambiance feels like you are in paris. the quiches, sandwiches, and brunch items are all delicious. the chocolate chaud is unbelievable!

Pros: food, atmosphere

Le Pichet is my go-to spot on a rainy Seattle afternoon when I desperately need something good for lunch that won't cost me an arm and a leg--that's when I get the baked eggs, broiled with just enough cheese and salty ham to make them delicious but not too bad for me. It also has the best quiche I've ever had, awesome french fries, a very affordable wine list and a European feel to it.

Pros: great food, lovely atmosphere

Cons: Can be noisy, tables close together

We always feel fortunate to have Le Pichet so close when we start feeling sorry for ourselves for being so far from Paris. The only thing to add is that when you go - be bold! You never know when you're going to develop an addiction to lardons or sardines with chickpeas and grapefruit. Order the strangest thing on the menu and prepare to be amazed...

Pros: Food, atmosphere

Cons: An expensive habit

I actually have heard a few friends scoff that I like this place, but for me it is like walking into a a simple classic bistro in the Marais district. Having a "French" bistro that doesn't decorate itself in overtly French pieces (like old-style ad posters) seems a bit more authentic to my experiences in Paris. I like the food very much there, and yes it is simple, as it is supposed to be for this style of bistro (as opposed to one of the baby bistros of the big name Parisian chefs that popped up a few years back). When I go into these, I expect a small seasonal menu with some simple salads, pates, mousses or terrines, a confit or two, and a well-priced wine list. Le Pichet does this well, and though I am not usually blown away by the food, the whole package takes me back across the Atlantic.

Pros: simple French cafe/bistro feel

Cons: it is what it is - which may not work for everybody
