We waited ages to be seated, and though the place was nearly empty, we were seated next to the kitchen. French onion soup was overdone with far too much beef boulion and salt; crab cakes was actually a single tepid cake with what we could swear was Kraft French dressing on it. The wine didn't show up. Crab stuffed halibut was inedible, slathered in cheese sauce; the salmon bore the weight of burnt potato hash atop it. Worst of all, my CC bank caught the waiter trying to overcharge us by double-swiping--the second time trying to charge us 30-dollars over the bill. We were shocked. Moreover, we were astounded at the prices on food items we would have sent back at a Denny's restaurant. An appalling evening we will never forget.

Pros: Nice interior.

Cons: Worst overall Seattle restaurant experience we've ever had

I've had a good meal off the menu here a couple of years ago. So I didn't think twice about making reservations for Mother's Day brunch buffet. I don't know what has happened to this restaurant, but the meal was something quite atrocious. Everything was below average, bland, uninspired -- except in cases where it was really awful. After I've tried every other nice restaurant in Seattle, I might come back here just to see if anything has improved. Not.

Pros: I didn't get sick

Cons: If I had gotten sick, they might have given my money back.

Calling Mother's Day dinner a disappointment would be an understatement. I was skeptical from the beginning when they were able to accommodate our party of 8 on short notice. Once we were seated, our server informed us that they already ran out of 4 entrees so half of us settled for meals we didn't really want (earlier customers didn't want them either obviously). There is simply no excuse for running out of food at 6:30p on Mother's Day. When the food arrived, the hash brown potato crust on the salmon was charred to a black crisp, and the steak, ordered medium, showed no sign of pink in the center. Furthermore, the bouillabaisse was completely bland and the French onion soup was overly salty and inedible. The only positive remark I can make is that our server remained very pleasant and polite while apologizing for our dissatisfaction with the food. I dine out frequently and have never been so outraged by the quality vs. cost of a meal. If it weren't for the Warwick Hotel guests (i.e. innocent tourists that don't know any better) and random once-but-never-again customers like me, I doubt this place would survive. It truly was my worst dining experience ever.

We wanted to find a good French restaurant and was recommend to the Margaux in downtown Seattle. Right from the start we liked it. They give complimentary parking and was seated with a very friendly staff. Our server was Janice who immediately got us a cocktail and then mentioned their specials and we had the prime rib which we hear is the best in Seattle. It was truely awesome and tender and juicy and the very best we have ever had, she recommended the crab cake and that too was the best we have had. We like to eat and I tell you they serve good portions not cheap portions for a French restaurant. The Chef even came out to greet us and talk with us and the Manager stopped over and greeted us also and we felt like celebrities in Hollywood with all the special attention. We went on a Friday night was not overly busy which worked for us since we were going to the movies right across the street and they let us park our car that whole time for free! I would highly recommend this restaurant and definately go back soon. Thank you to their whole wonderful staff.

Pros: Complimentary Parking

We have been here several times and the steaks are excellet. The steak frites was perfectly cooked, with rich peppercorn sauce and I especially loved the hay-stack of fries. The crab cakes are fantastic! Their homemade gourmet flavored ice creams are great as well. The cinerama is right across the street, a late movie after dinner makes for a great night.

Pros: Great Steaks, good service

We went to Brasserie Margaux for their Valentine's day dinner. For the 8:00 pm reservation, we were seated at 9:05 and had to wait another 15 minutes before anyone even came to the table! The 6 course menu was horrible, the portions were humongous, and not even remotely close to fine food. For the main course we were served a 6 oz lobster and a 6 oz steak! Also, they didn't even check with us how we wanted our steak done. Instead of having a romantic valentine's day dinner, first we were hungry and annoyed for a while, and at the end of the meal full and bloated! This is the most wasteful $200+ we have ever spent, I should have gone shoe shopping instead :(

Pros: Bar looked good, free valet parking

Cons: service, food, value for the price

We went for a pleasant meal and found the food lacking and service so-so. We did have the place to ourselves as, except for a few hotel guests, no one was there. Mushroom Saute had one or two (at most )varieties of mushrooms and very little truffle taste. Spinach salad was ok. Halibut with crabmeat was slightly deep fried rather than gently sauteed or crusted. Crab was minimal. Citrus beurre blanc was oily with no citrus taste. Seared foie gras was not special. Waitress served us a different 1/2 bottle of white wine than was listed on the menu and did not ask if this was ok. Then she immediately poured both the red and white wines without asking us if we wanted both at the same time. She wasn't rude, but she just did not have finer dining experience. Much better food and atmosphere can be found in many Seattle restaurants. Leave this place for the hotel guests too tired to venture out to another restaurant.

I went there last night and it was incredibly stressful and unpleasant. The bartenders and busboys were chatting about their personal lives with each other -- which would have been fine if they hadn't continued their conversations even as they walked around the room and so conducted their conversations by SHOUTING at each other across the whole length of the bar, or from one side of the dining room to the other as they moved about the restaurant. It wasn't one or two staff -- all the staff were doing it. And it didn't happen just once or twice: it continued as long as we were there. Brasserie Margaux apparently doesn't bother to train its staff. It is incredibly annoying to have some waitress shouting over your head at another staffperson across the dining room because she wants to continue to talk with her colleagues while she is moving about the dining room. These staff were literally standing 30 to 40 feet apart (I am not exaggerating) and yelling at each other. One of the bartenders was the worst. Listen lady, I do NOT want to hear about how you parked illegally and your car was towed. Just keep it to yourself. If you absolutely must talk about your personal life with your coworkers, at least use your indoor voice, and talk to the busboy only if he is actualy within a few feet of you, so that your incredibly inane and boring personal problems are not inflicted on every diner in the room. I do not come to a nice restaurant so I can learn about your parking issues. I come so I can share some time with my husband. I literally couldn't hear what my husband was saying to me across the table because the waitresses, busboys, and bartenders were so busy sharing their problems with each other at the top of their lungs. This behavior was just beyond rude. No one should behave like this (well, maybe at a football game, if it's appropriate in context) -- but at a "fine" restaurant? You find better atmosphere at a Denny's.

Pros: Food was adequate.

Cons: Horrible, tacky, rude, inappropriate staff.

The Margaux lounge has to be one of the best hidden bars in all of Seattle. It has a cozy warm atmosphere with its dark wood walls, candles, and dark wood bar. The bartenders, Chris and Earl are awesome- try their lemon drops or cosmo's!! I usually go their with a group of friends and the service is awesome in their lounge and at the bar. Plus, their happy hour is three hours long seven day a week!! I highly recommend this place for friends or a romantic night out. Ohh, also try the tapas menu- on happy hour, you buy two and get your third tapas free! I love this place.

Pros: bartenders, servers, lounge

Cons: doesnt face 4th
