Never going again-
by alicelee123
I'm never going to this bar again. My first time "dining" there was my last. The owner of this establishment should screen the servers much more carefully. Our server grudgingly brought us drinks, food, and water.
At the end of our night, we asked to split the check (a normal request). We handed the server four credit cards and asked it to be split four equal parts... not an uncommon request.
When we were given our cards back, the waiter said, "Next time, swing by an ATM on the way."
Bizarre... anyone who's worked as a server before knows this is unacceptable.
- Pros: ok food
- Cons: beyond rude service
Love Peoples

Generous happy hour with great cheap food. Nice BLT and the veggie burger is the best in town. I eat it and I'm a carnivore. Great kraut. Great german and local beer. Try the Kolsch and Spaten.
And Sabrina rocks!
- Pros: great rotating beers, great german pub grub
- Cons: parking is a drag
I love the People's Pub
by markdavidh
I love the People's Pub. It has great fish and chips and bratwurst. It is one of the few places you can get german style potato salad with your brat. The service is always frienldy and fast. The best part about it is that you can get food even into the wee hours.
drink the beer, skip the food

the review from 5/30/07 says it all: it MAY have been good, but not now. We went in on a Tues, early evening, looking forward to some great German food. Still looking. My pork cutlet was so dry, I had to choke it down with the beer; I finally gave up and left half of it. The red cabbage side was just that : red cabbage, no seasonings that I could taste. My husband's fish and chips were so dark brown, they looked burnt; he left most of his, too. If people reviewing this site really believe this is how German food tastes, I hope they try it somewhere else for comparison.
- Pros: good beer
- Cons: bad food
Can't beat $2.50 jager/schnapps on Sat nights.
by brb84
My friends and I discovered this hole in the wall about 6 months ago and have been regulars on the weekends ever since. $2.50 jager/schnapps on a Saturday night? Yes please. The service can be a bit flaky but they make up for it in friendly attitude and freebies. There is also a collection of board games to play, which only become more fun as the night goes on. This is a great place for a cheap drink and a laid-back atmosphere on the weekends
- Pros: Great drink specials on weekends, Friendly service
- Cons: Often run out of types of beer, parking
Great food and location

Glad to see this place recently got named one of the top ethnic restaurants in the city by Seattle Metropolitan Magazine. I was there last night after a show down the street and noticed they added some new items to the menu as well that I can't wait to try!
- Pros: beer & liquor list, authenitc german food
- Cons: parking
German fare finds a home on Ballard's most happening street.

In Short
Located on hip Ballard Avenue, this low-key neighborhood pub has a dining room in front and a bustling bar in back. The menu is populated with German comfort food, including giant Wiener schnitzel served with pommes frites and sauteed vegetables, as well as a slew of sausages. A full bar and a wide selection of import brews complement the eats--for the clueless, the menu suggest beers to best suit each item.

Perhaps this place made an effort to offer food that was meant for human consumption when it opened but those days are long past. What tries to pass for schnitzel would be more inconspicuous nailed to the bottom of a boot. The "german" potato salad was a hard pile of undercooked potatoes tossed with (are you ready for this?) MUSTARD!
Go for the beer and stay far, far away from the food. There are other german pubs in the city that at least try to offer german food.
Great People!!

Last Monday night we had my brother's 30th birthday party here. It was a very large party and they went out of their way to accomodate us. They even gave us some birthday candles when we forgot to bring our own!.....The staff there is a class act and I will forever be a loyal patron of theirs!
The People's Pub: Your Source for Fried Pickles
by gelsol
The People's Pub rules. Great atmosphere, great staff, and fried pickles! I know, you're thinking, "fried pickles?" Just try them....
If you're a Virginia Tech Hokie (like me), the PP is even more special. They get all the games and you get a food and drink discount if you're wearing some Hokie digs (only during the games).
The People's Pub also serves authentic German food and beer, so come down for a brat and a brew....I highly recommend the Spaten Optimator! Also, if you've got the late-night munchies, the hamburger is excellent and the serving of fries is enormous!
