This was an amazing final stop in a recent trip to Seattle. The sandwiches (I had the apple/brie/walnut sandwich and my partner had the turkey sandwich) were among the best deli-style sandwiches we've ever eaten. The white bean soup was perfectly seasoned. The baked goods (chocolate chip cookie, oatmeal apricot cookie, fig bar and triple chocolate tart) were also perfect. A great place, with outdoor seating. My only regret is that we didn't have time to try the main lounge next door! Next time...
Pros: Location, price, quality of food
Cons: No indoor seating

I grabbed an early morning treat here just a couple of days ago. I was overwhelmed with my options, and ended up deciding on the apple dumpling. So yummy, with a nice doughy taste and nut butter hidden inside. I will definitely be back soon to check out the chocolate mint cookies and also the pistachio topped pastries. If you have not been here, and are in the neighborhood, stop on in and grab something delicious!
Pros: selection, taste
Cons: street parking

The coconut cream pie that is. Let's start from the bottom. The crust is a wonderful compliment to the coconut, a crispy brown crust with finely chopped nuts mixed in. The pie filling is firm but silky smooth, and packed with ribbons of coconut flakes. And the top? Why mounds of whipped cream of course, with a heavy-handed sprinkling of toasted coconut flakes, and white chocolate flakes. It's the perfect cream pie. I also bought a small piece of brown sugar cheesecake, which wasn't quite as good. I'm still deciding whether it was too salty, or just innovative. I lean toward the latter, because I did like it, but it wouldn't be suitable for everyone. Just know: If you hate the sweet-salty thing (think bacon and maple syrup), get the pie, or try a cookie. I hear they're fab!
Pros: Amazing pie, nice atmosphere and staff
Cons: A bit pricey, but a worthwhile extravagance

Everyone knows that this spot is known for it's Coconut Cream Pie, and that is Out of This World--especially since you can buy it in small "bite-size" portions to enjoy it anytime. BUT. The chocolate cookies are the best in town, I think, and that's the reason I keep coming back. They're big (plate-sized) but unlike many of the larger size, they're moist and chewy with just the right ratio of chocolate chips to make them worthwhile. My god. Entirely delicious. Do yourself a favor and have one today. There are also a bunch of sandwiches and salads--very resonably-priced--that look yummy, but I haven't tried them yet.
Pros: chocolate chip cookies, coconut cream pie, everything else looks amazing
Cons: can be extremely crowded at lunchtime

The desserts are absolutely deeee-lish! The shortcake biscuits are to die for (but twice now I have bitten into a biscuit and found it semi-raw -- substitute chef, perhaps?)! The creme brulee is out of this world! But the staff is R-U-D-E. I go there almost every morning on my way to work and twice now they have been extremely rude just because I got there at 7:29 -- even though their open signs were out! The second time I waited outside until 7:30 and was ignored. Don't go there if you want a place to sit because there are only two tables and they are outside. Bakery is very small -- only room for maybe 3-4 people in line. The lunch sandwiches are decent. Similar to the prepackaged sandwiches at Starbucks. Good but not stellar. Tomato basil soup is good -- never had the bread, although it looks tasty.
Pros: DESSERTS!
Cons: Rude staff, Minimal seating

Whether you are looking for an afternoon treat or a nice bread to accompany dinner - Dahlia Bakery is one of the sweet finds of Seattle. Not only are the staff overly friendly and helpful, but the simplistic details of providing customized ribbon, greeting cards or a bag of swedish fish to embellish any purchase definitely reminds us why a visit to this Bakery is a sweet treat.

While I enjoy their desserts, etc, what makes the Dahlia Bakery stand out is their bread. Whether you call it Bauernbrot, Pan del Pueblo or Pain de Campagne, you find it everywhere in Europe and the Dahlia's is as good as it gets, in this country, anyway.
