Their bread is great, but the service leaves much to be desired. I was recently there and ordered the mushroom and red pepper quiche. There was only one piece left in the case, so when the server handed me a piece and there was still the single piece in the case, I asked again to make sure it was the vegetarian quiche. She said “of course, that’s what you asked for.” I opened the to go box and it looked like it was ham, so I asked again. She was very rude and would not check for me. I don’t eat meat. I was very disappointed that they wouldn’t correct this error.

I love macrina for one reason and one reason only. Their Herb Baguette (which sells out every day) compliments pretty much any sandwich or chesse possible. I haven't found any bread more satisfying freshly baked in Seattle. Its also available at Metro Markets.

The macrina experience is mediocre. The food is decent, but the atmosphere is nothing to boast about. The staff are not particularly friendly or customer-service oriented. It can take forever to get a coffee or lunch. The salads are good, but they never have enough salad dressing. I know a few people who share this same sentiment, and when I mentioned something to a staff person there, they did not seem to care. I was very polite, and suggested that they provide more dressing. I guess they are happy just being mediocre, and not listening to their patron's suggestions. This place is good if you happen to be in the neighborhood, but I would not reccommend going here for a special occasion especially if it is not convenient.

I wandered into Macrina on my 1st trip to Seattle last wkd. It was packed on Sat. morning but immediately got a seat at the counter. The wait staff were all friendly & patient. The eggs & smoked salmon were amazing. The chef behind the counter (calls herself just a cook) was passionate & detailed in her presentation. It tasted even better than it looked. Now when is she gonna call me -Steve

Pros: Make you feel at home, Amazing brkfst chef

Cons: Coffee mugs too big, Coffee gets cold

I ordered a Macrina cheesecake for a friend's baby shower, and oh. my. lord. The most incredible cheesecake I have ever seen/eaten (and I've eaten my fair share of cheesecake). Also picked up an unexpectedly fabulous pear muffin as a snack. Yes, this place can be crowded, but it is worth the wait.

Pros: Delicious food

BEST bakery ever - hands down. The people are friendly, the food is delicious from the Fresh Fruit Muffins to their soups and salads. And the small neighboorhood cafe really makes you feel at home. If you don't live close by - you will want to.

The treats here are fantastic. I think the service depends on when you go. I often go during the weekends and while it can be very crowded and rushed I think the energy is welcomed. I have never experienced any negative attitude although I have been known to get frustrated waiting several minutes to be served those delicious pastries with those amazing aromas wafting through the air and my stomach grumbling with impatience.

I have not had the same problem with service that some reviewers experienced. I have visited three times and the staff has always been very friendly and attentive. The food here is very good. A really cozy and homey neighborhood bakery. Though I wish there was a little more seating, it's definately worth stopping in for a snack or a cozy lunch with a friend.

Really good food, one of the best bakeries in town. The people at the cashier tho act as they're doing you a favor by selling you their fantastic food. Small crowded and busy, but that's no excuse for poor attitude.

Pros: good food

Cons: poor attitude of help
